The smooth surface of the mask lays heavy in your hands. a beautiful Kitsune mask, recently finished by Hanano.
You had been taking borrowing them when Hanano wasn’t looking. You didn’t mean to keep them but you just couldn’t find an opportunity to return them to her but that would change tonight, you would sneak in and return the masks back without Hanano even knowing!
You gather the four masks you had taken and prepared to return them to hanano’s room before she returned to the shared apartment after doing whatever it is she does.
The apartment was unusually quiet because your other roommates had left but that didn’t matter as you padded your way to hanano’s bedroom.
Opening the door with a creak, reveals a clean and bare room other than the art pack next to a desk, a mask lays on the desk unfinished.
You place the four masks down on top of the comforter, each one staring back silently at you.
Her work was beautiful, each mask crafted beautifully and patiently, each a different texture and material.
You don’t even notice Hanano behind you staring silently until her monotone voice broke the silence “uh… y/n what are you doing?”
You jump slightly and turn around hiding (very poorly) the masks behind you “Oh Okazaki when did you get home?” The surname slipping out instinctively (a telltale sign you were hiding something.)
