Work Text:
"Where do you plan to go next?"
Shennong gathers his things and looks up, his brow furrowed as in deep in thought. Then, he nods at himself.
"I just decided. I reckon I'll bunk at your place for now!"
Yi blinks. Huh?
"My place? You mean at the Four Seasons Pavilion?"
What? So he's known where it is this whole time? Did he leave Shuanshuan there? He wants to stay there too without even consulting him? What???
"...What whim made you think you can just waltz in without my permission?"
Shennong lifts his clay jar over his shoulder. "There's still so much to learn about this world of demons," Yi holds back from correcting him, "but it's so damn dangerous. I need somewhere safe I can return to, and I've just got a good feeling about your place."
A good feeling. Great. But there's a safer place to go that is not Yi's house. In the middle of guard-filled, trap-ridden, crumbling and desolate New Kunlun. Their pen– the village.
"Then take Shuanshuan back to-"
"Don't worry, I won't be a freeloader." Shennong reassures, like that can be the only reason Yi is protesting. "In exchange, I'll continue to provide you with my medicinal brews."
Shennong stands a little straighter. A man offering a deal. "I can make a pot of my brew with every two items of poison you provide."
Yi cannot believe the confidence, or perhaps boldness, of what he's hearing. "You've already thought out your terms...?" He narrows his eyes. He's being swayed too easily. "I still haven't agreed to anything yet, by the way."
"I think getting access to my special brew is a pretty good deal, though. Let's leave it at that. I've got work to do."
Awesome. Another person in this house and he doesn't even get a say on this matter. Shennong starts walking west and Yi drags a hand down his face. Whatever. Goumang shouldn't be too far, and he has work to do as well.
