Work Text:

You were so relaxed.

Hot water running down your body, bubbles of soap going down the drain. You stayed like this for a minute or two, enjoying the warmth before having to dry yourself. You bent down, turning the shower head toward your feet, fingers rubbing between your toes to make sure no dirt or soap remained before straightening yourself and turning off the water.

Still inside the bathtub, you grabbed the smaller towel resting nearby and started drying your hair before throwing it aside. And as you did so, you finally noticed it.

A spider. Big. Thick long legs and fat brown body staying still on the floor, near the shower carpet. You didn’t care about the daddy long legs spiders in the corner of the flat, you barely see them. But that was not a daddy long leg.

You quickly stepped out of the bathtub, hoping the spider wouldn’t move and grabbed the fly swatter. You were about to crush it with all your strength when a horrible thought crossed your mind. What if it was the kind to release all her babies when in danger ? You’d be flooded with baby spiders while you’re butt ass naked.

Nope.

You swiftly got back inside the bathtub to put a safe distance between you and the spider and grabbed your phone, taking a photo of it before sending it to your floor neighbor who happened to be the “friendly neighborhood Spiderman”.

He was strange and awkward at first. Putting good distance between everyone. But you were persistent, and in need of a friend of your age. You found out he was Spiderman because you’re good at recognizing people’s butts. And also his voice. You tried to confront him about it but he always denied it until recently. He was feeling low, more than usual, and showed you pictures and videos of two people as he told you about them. Why he isn’t talking to them anymore and why he tried to keep his distance with you.

You then both kept a safe distance between you two. You’d just stay neighbors, slightly friends, slightly more, slightly nothing. You never talked about his Spiderman activities, the less you knew, the safer you were, it was the deal. So neither of you could get hurt.

But right now you needed someone to come quickly, and he was right on the other side of the corridor.

[Name]> “help.”

[Name]> “911”

[Name]> “are u good w spiders or is it just for show”

[Name]> “I would kill it but I fear she has babies ready to colonize my bathroom and kill me for revenge”

You stared at your phone as you waited for a reply, too preoccupied by the eight legged creature to think about drying yourself, so you stood still, slightly bent down, water slowly dripping down. And after a couple minutes you received a reply.

[Perer]> “The door is locked.”

[Name]> “Break it. Idc.”

[Peter]> “What ?”

[Peter]> “I’m not gonna break your door.”

[Peter]> “Is your bathroom window open ?”

[Name]> “?”

[Name]> “Yes ?”

[Name]> “R u coming through the window ?”

To this, Peter didn’t reply.

So you waited, constantly eyeing the unmoving spider. You briefly had time to wonder why before some noise outside caught your attention. It was him.

“Can I break your mosquito net ?” Peter asked, fully dressed as Spiderman. Good thing your window was toward a dark alley or else people could’ve seen him.

“Yeah.” You replied, briefly looking at him before focusing back on the spider. Within seconds Peter was inside, following your eyes to know where the intruder was. Maybe he should take his mask off to show his calm face, maybe that’ll reassure you.

“Oh, it’s a cute one.”

You looked at him with furrowed brows. Cute ? This ? Peter sensed your stare, looking back at you before suddenly covering his eyes.

“Dude ! You’re naked !”

Nevermind, he was glad his mask was on or you would’ve seen his skin turn as red as his costume, from one ear to the other.

Quickly you placed your hands before your dick, straightening up by reflex.

“Sorry. I was… showering.”

Peter moved awkwardly to the side, grabbing the larger towel and handed it to you to cover yourself properly. He tried not to stare in between his fingers, looking everywhere but at you until your naked form was now hidden.

He cleared his throat, trying to focus back on the problem at hand : the spider.

You stood there as you watched him crouch down, hands slowly approaching the spider, gently pushing it into his palm before standing back up.

“I’m gonna, uh, put it outside.”

“Okay.” You replied quietly, looking at his hand with barely hidden disgust. It’s not today that you’re gonna get rid of your arachnophobia.

Peter looked at you one last time, slightly unsure, before turning toward the window and climbing out carefully to not accidentally crush the spider and then he disappeared. After a few seconds you stepped outside the bathtub and looked out the window.

“Spider successfully extracted !” He yelled, giving you two thumbs up.

“Pizza at my place tonight ?” You asked, loud enough for him to hear.

Peter really wanted to say yes. He knew he needed a friend, someone to talk to, to vent, to laugh, but he feared what would happen if he let you in more than you already are. He doesn’t want to repeat his past mistakes. While Spiderman exists, Peter Parker can’t have what he wants. He knows that.

“Sorry, can’t !”

“It’s just a pizza !” You argued.

“Maybe one day !” He replied, jumping as a web flew to a nearby building, and launched himself in the air to swing away.
