The Dots (rewrite)

Summary:

Iris has a bad dream

Work Text:

It was dark like a void, there were strange spots all around. They weren’t stars, nope just weird purplish spots all around, everywhere it felt like a strange mix of quiet terror and calm all at once. It was just all around like a sort of cage.

He was walking in it. He didn't know why, or even how for that matter. Somehow there was ground in this place? Why was he here? Where is here? Did it just go on forever? Where is he going?

He felt like he should stop but at the same time he felt he shouldn't. So he just kept walking; it felt automatic, like he was going to get somewhere eventually. Was that little spot there before? He heard something.

Finally he stopped and looked around, well what he could look at, the spots definitely seemed like there were less of them before. He heard it again.

This time he turned around instantly but as far as he could tell it was just him here he called out “Hello!” ….nothing no response

He heard it again and it felt closer, but he still didn’t see anything. “Who’s there!” he was now very much on guard reading his weapon for anything that might pop out

Still no response and more dots. His eyes looked everywhere looking for something, anything other than just.. dots. Slowly turning around he saw it and reeled back slightly his eyes turned thin like a scared cat .

The Reaper.

He immediately readied his sword but the small blank eyed ghost knocked it out of his hand with one swift strike of its sythe. so he just RAN he ran as fast as he could his mind was clouded and the dots were everywhere he looked. He just kept running. The dots were rapidly getting bigger and surrounding everything.

He tripped.

He was falling, the ground was somehow gone. He looked helplessly at the reaper just staring down at him with its hollow soulless eyes as he fell further and further down as the dots continued to consume everything.

*Sploosh*

It was dark again, way darker than before. The dots were gone, the reaper was gone, but he felt so scared and he doesn't get scared. so he just floated around upside down in the darkness and it felt so cold.

“I..is?”

Until he felt warmer

“Ir..is!”
“Iris! Wake up!”

“*GASP* *pant* *pant* w-what where- Pentellow?” the purple sphere heaved heavily his hand clenched over his rapidly racing heart and his face going back to normal

His girlfriend looked very worried “Are you okay Grape? You were-”

Iris just clung to her, his face buried in her solder. It wasn't real, he told himself, he was still here, everything's fine. Tears were starting to form in his eyes. How pathetic is he? Crying over some stupid dream? What is he five? He began to quietly sob.

Meanwhile Pentellow was rubbing small circles on his back just letting him get it all out. They stayed like that for a while until she finally spoke

“Are you okay saying what’s wrong Iris?”

Iris was still crying but less so now. He lifted his head from her shoulder and wiped away the remaining tears, he looked away from her gaze. What could he possibly tell her, would she even understand?

would she hate him for what he..

They were both silent for a moment.

“I…”

“I- uh in my dream it I-I saw it.. it I.. I’m sorry I don’t have the words to even-”

He felt gentle hands touch his, he still couldn’t look at her.

“Hey It’s okay, you don’t have to” she said as she lifted a hand to wipe away his tears “the important thing is you’re okay now”

Iris took a deep breath “*exhale* okay.. yeah” he finally looked at her “thank you Lemon Pie”

She kissed his cheek “anytime my Grape Jam”

“*yawn* let's go back to sleep”

“He he okay good night”

they went back to sleep with their hands still clasped together

But at the back of his mind Iris still felt guilty
