Chapter Text
the day was as interesting as it could be, well with Lan Qiren out sick (read: tired of WWX) and Lan Xichen teaching the class.
Lan Xichen, the angel he was, brought the class outside under the guise of ‘hands-on-learning’ but really, he wanted to push Lan Zhan and Wei Ying together.
In the front of the class Lan Wangji sat ever so diligently, listening intently to his Xiongzhang speak. Wei Ying, who was supposed to be seated behind him but by some miracle (he suspects Xiongzhang) had ended up next to him, did everything in his power to bother Lan Zhan.
”Neh Lan Zhan!” Wei Ying said not discreetly “Why do you ignore me??? Ah is it because you’re thinking of a good enough reply? Ah I’m flattered!” He dramatically cupped his face and batted his eyelashes at Lan Zhan
“Wei-Gongzi…” Lan Xichen sighed, he did expect this after all
for a moment Lan Zhan thought he was saved, but no, his Xiongzhang continued with “how about you and Wangji spend some time in the library after class? There you can talk”
‘Xiongzhang!!’ Lan Zhan’s face practically screamed, if the slightly widened eyes and flushed ears were anything to go by.
suddenly someone in the back screamed, the sound echoing through the open space.
Lan Xichen looked up alarmed and looked even more alarmed at what he saw. A swirling, purple-black mass of… energy? It wasn’t resentful energy, but it wasn’t pure either. It was more like a permeating presence.
“Get back!” He ran, because yes safety matters more here, quickly to the back and motioned for the guest disciples to herd back. “It’s not Resentful energy, but it isn’t Spiritual either…” he furrowed his eyebrows and drew Shuoye slightly out of it’s sheath.
”Xiongzhang..” At an instant, Lan Zhan was next to his brother as well. Lan Xichen held out a hand to motion for him to step back as well “Wangji, this could be dangerous. Please stay back..”
There were more footsteps approaching behind him, and for a moment Lan Xichen wondered if he was going insane to speak in another language because what part of ‘get back’ in a startled tone, do these guest disciples not understand? Worse, it’s Lan Xichen of all people saying it!
”Zewu-Jun… If I may, I might know what this is” the guest disciple, who Lan Xichen can distinguish as Jiang Cheng spoke. “I have an idea of what it is, but I’ll need to touch it to make sure.”
“A-Cheng!” Yanli said sternly, but worried “Have you no wish for life? Zewu-Jun of all people sounded startled, sit down.”
“A-Jie, if it is what I think it is, I’m fine.” Jiang Cheng turned back to Lan Xichen “So, Zewu-Jun, can I.. examine that?” He gestured to the swirling purpleish mas
Lan Xichen relaxed a bit, and sighs for the millionth time that minute. He would usually say no in this situation, but Jiang Cheng is Jiang Cheng and he’s not ashamed to admit he has a booming crash on the younger. So he nods and agrees. “You may, but I’ll have to be directly behind you to ensure your safety.”
Jiang Cheng walks up wordlessly and holds up a palm towards the mass. He recites what seems to be an incantation in a foreign language and his palm glows gold and the energy from the swirling mass seems to seperate from itself and a thin line moving to Jiang Cheng’s palm. “Just as I thought…” they hear Jiang Cheng mutter. Then Jiang Cheng lowers his palm.
“It’s relatively harmless… Actually we might need medics for this-“
“Ahh Jiang Cheng what was that!? It was sooo cool!” I’m sure you guessed it, Wei Wuxian exclaimed this with pride in his eyes. His shidi was so cool! Ah, what was that spell? Was it even a spell? Cool!
“If you would let me finish!” Jiang Cheng snapped back, Wei Wuxian just laughed. “Anyways, this thing seems to have a lock of sorts. I want to unlock it, no one is stopping me.” He crossed his arms and scanned the room, nobody objected. They were too scared of the swirling mass to object to any other way.
“No, absolutely not” Well, there’s one person. “Jiang Wanyin, how would we know that once it unlocks, it’s still harmless?”
“Cuz I’ve done this before, Zewu-Jun, duhh-“
And before he could finish his sentence, the swirling mass swirled faster and expanded. Jiang Cheng looked relatively unfazed, startled but only a bit. The swirling mass spun, then suddenly there was a large rectangle above it. The words on it were foreign.
Ανταποκρινόμενοι στο: το μέλλον it read.
The swirling mass enveloped Jiang Cheng fully, and then he disappeared.
someone screamed, and someone passed out (that was Huaisang).
the words flickered for a moment and then settled into the familiar language everyone there is familiar with.
“Reacting to: The future”
“Ok, WHAT!?”
