Vilicus slowly sat up from his bed, squinting in the dark. He rubbed his eyes and tried to adjust, staring at the clock. Dammit, it was one in the morning. He got out of bed, muttering to himself and dragging himself away, his dragon tail following behind across the ground. He exited his bedroom and headed down the stairs, since somebody was knocking on his door and had woken him up. He turned the front doorknob, lightly swinging it open and ready to get bitchy at whoever thought they could waste his energy at this time. He blinked a couple times, trying to see if his eyes were betraying him.
"Oh--Nuclearbyte," He glanced at his figure, observing everything about him. He noticed he was hugging himself and shaking, soaking wet from the rain pouring down. Vilicus stopped breathing for a moment before quickly stepping side, watching Nuclearbyte head inside.
"Jesus Christ-" Vilicus said and turned on the lamp nearby, staring at the shorter man. It was much better to see him in the light. He was shivering so bad, his lip busted with blood drying, a couple bruises on his face, a couple finger marks as well.
"...You did it again, didn't you." Vilicus said almost bitter, but not at Nuclearbyte. No, never him. He placed his hand on Nuclearbyte's back and led him over to the couch, not caring if he got the couch wet. Nuclearbyte gently sat down, avoiding gaze as if he was guilty of that question.
"You went over there. You had another fight. Speak to me?" Vilicus then slowly got down on one knee, gazing at Nuclearbyte's face and pleading him lightly.
"...Please." He finished. Nuclearbyte looked at Vilicus finally, his silver eyes focusing on him.
"...He called me over because he was really upset... and I said something, really stupid... and we began fighting... and he brought up your name to my face..." He trailed off, his words coming in slow. Vilicus blinked at that, processing before glaring lightly, letting out the softest growl.
"You need to stop going over there, dammit... nothing you said would have--caused this," Vilicus reached out to Nuclearbyte, gently placing a warm hand over his cheek, caressing it.
"...You're the sweetest person I now." He then grew a bit confused when Nuclearbyte let out a short, bitter laugh.
"Yeah... only to you." Nuclearbyte responded.
"...Only to me. And if he wants to bring up my name... he can say it to my face." He gently warned, then stood up from the ground. "Head to the bathroom, I'll get you some dry clothes to change into..." Vilicus said, watching Nuclearbyte nod and slowly get up, walking off without looking at him.
He seemed so... distant tonight. Vilicus let out a small sigh, walking off upstairs to fetch him clothing. He looked into his own drawers and closet, picking out one of his own hoodies and a pair of pajamas for pants, for comfort. He then went back down the stairs, heading into the small bathroom and setting the folded clothing onto the kitchen sink.
"Come back when you're done." He stated and walked back out. He crossed his arms, unable to stop thinking about the whole situation. He paced a little bit, the entire time until Nuclearbyte came out, sitting back down on the couch. Vilicus stared at him when he looked more relaxed, like the scent of his hoodie and knowing it was his soothed him. Vilicus always had a certain cologne, maybe Nuclearbyte was a bite homesick for this. Vilicus then grabbed the throw blanket from the couch, wrapping it around him to keep him warm. He placed his hands on Nuclearbyte's shoulders, pressing a soft kiss to his head, pausing when he didn't react that much.
"...Look at me." He said quieter to get his attention, then peppering his face in soft kisses when Nuclearbyte responded and lifted his head up a bit. Nuclearbyte gently wrapped his arms around Vilicus, gripping the back of his shirt as he smothered him in kisses. Vilicus's dragon tail wagged a bit, seeming to be homesick as well for him.
"I love you..." He said quietly, awaiting a response, hoping for one.
"I love you, too..." Nuclearbyte responded back softly, then returned all his kisses with one to his lips. Vilicus hummed at that, affectionately kissing him back with all his care. The minutes ticked by on the clock, and eventually Vilicus pulled back a bit.
"...Are you hungry...?" He asked softly, gazing right into Nuclearbyte's silver eyes with his own emerald ones.
"...Not really..." He responded softly. Vilicus paused for a moment, thinking about all the food he had.
"...I'll make you a drink then, something you'd really like..." He promised gently and stood back up, walking off to head to the kitchen. Nuclearbyte watched him go a bit curiously, part of him wanting to follow.
When Vilicus was in the kitchen, he was mixing milk and a packet of a hot chocolate mix together, focusing and putting effort into it. He then began heating it up. He waited until it was about done, then glanced down when he felt Nuclearbyte nuzzling against him and gripping onto him with one hand. Vilicus glanced over at the couch.
"...I would have been right back..." Vilicus started pouring it into a mug.
"...So silly..." He added on, wrapping an arm around him and leading him back to the couch. Nuclearbyte sat down, and Vilicus handed him the mug. He then took a seat by him, he couldn't resist but to pull Nuclearbyte so close, almost on his lap. His green wings surrounded Nuclearbyte like a shield protecting him, wrapping his arms around him and holding him so close. Almost like he could fade away.
"Thank you.." Nuclearbyte said, drinking from the mug.
"Mhmm..." Vilicus gently hid his face a bit against Nuclearbyte's soft, black hair, sitting in a comfortable silence for a moment. He then glanced when he heard a phone buzzing, realizing it was Nuclearbyte's.
"..H-Hey-" Nuclearbyte said when Vilicus slid the phone out of his own pocket and stared at the text notifications. He gave such a long stare, before he turned off the phone and slid it into his own pocket. He took it away from Nuclearbyte completely.
"Give me back my phone-" He tried to slid it back out. Vilicus gently gripping his wrist, looking down at him.
"Focus on me tonight... you don't need to see what he's saying. Be present here, okay? You can have it tomorrow.." He assured him, seeing the light frustration on Nuclearbyte's face.
"Yeah, but... it's-..." He glanced up at Vilicus.
"You can have it tomorrow... I need to see you..." Vilicus muttered and gently grabbed Nuclearbyte's face, brushing his thumb across his busted lip.
"You're a mess..." He said, watching Nuclearbyte sigh and give up.
"..You're staying here tonight," Vilicus continued. It caused Nuclearbyte to give a bit or a surprised yet relieved look, and took another sip from his hot chocolate.
"This is one of the only times I get the see you because you're always busy keeping up with him... and you return back to me like this..." Vilicus said
"...You really are a mess," He now held Nuclearbyte's face with both his hands, gazing into his silver eyes.
"...You're gorgeous, way too gorgeous to look like this..." He then leaned forward to kiss every single bruise.
"I'm fine, really..." Nuclearbyte assured gently.
"You came here crying... don't act like I don't know when you cry, even when the rain poured." Vilicus stated, causing Nuclearbyte to fall silent.
"I know when you're hurt. I've heard your every remark and insult when we fight, I've heard your every laugh and seen your smile when you hear my stupid jokes--I know when you hold it back trying to be strong like nothing's wrong between you two anymore." Vilicus stated, holding him tighter when Nuclearbyte looked like he was about to argue back against that.
"You're my darling..." He continued on, gazing at the wall as he felt Nuclearbyte's heart beat against him.
"..I'm sorry I don't drop by more often, okay... I'm fine, but... I'm.. kinda scared," Nuclearbyte finally responded, gently gripping onto him.
"Of him finding out and hurting you again.,," He finished. Vilicus swayed his dragon tail a bit at that fiercely. He grew even more protective
"...You don't have to take all that blame for me. If he has something to say, he can say it to my motherfucking face, like I've said," He then pulled away from Nuclearbyte a bit, taking his hand in his and kissing the back of it. He then trailed kisses slowly up his arm, across his shoulder and to his neck, peppering it in kisses and placing a hand on his hip.
"Next time I see him, I'll make him be sorry for ever laying a finger on you." He then pressed a kiss to his cheek, then the other.
"...It's not his fault..." Nuclearbyte responded softly, which Vilicus disagreed completely with that
"If he has the power to do this to you, then it is." He then pressed a kiss to the tip of his nose, making Nuclearbyte quiet down a bit.
"God, Nuclearbyte... you drive me crazy... I wish you would just... come stay with me... safely... can you do that for me...?" He pulled him fully onto his lap, wrapping his arms around his waist, never breaking eye contact with him.
"..Yes, I think I can..." Nuclearbyte said and placed a hand on Vilicus's arm gently, gently rubbing his nose against his before hiding his face against his shoulder.
"Good..." Vilicus rocked him a bit, really hoping that was true as he gently wrapped his dragon tail around Nuclearbyte's leg.
But it wasn't promised. When Vilicus woke up, he expected Nuclearbyte to be by his side. Hell, he was even ready to offer some breakfast if he wanted it. He was ready to spoil him. Until he blinked and he wasn't there, only a letter. He gently grabbed it and went over it, reading it. He gently gripped the sides of the paper--he left. He would return, surely. And Vilicus was determined to make him move on and stay in his arms finally where he belonged. And it ached. It ached that he was chosen over Vilicus, but Vilicus when it came to Nuclearbyte was patient, not matter how frustrating.
He gently folded the letter. He wasn't so sure what to do with himself now--but last night still lingered through his mind. Last night was real, and he remembered every 'I love you' and every kiss Nuclearbyte returned. Addicting. He was an addiction. One thing Vilicus couldn't forget was the way Nuclearbyte gazed at him when he held his face, like he belonged to him.
"...Fuck--Fuck-!!!" Vilicus hid his face on his hands, taking in a deep breath before letting out a long, shaky breath. He decided to just slowly rip the letter in half. He then gently brought out his phone, desperately seeing if Nuclearbyte even left any messages. There was none. He gazed at the screen for a brief moment.
God, he was so fucking homesick for him. He would get to him one day. He would never let go of him or let him ever run back to him.
