Work Text:

Time seemed to stand still as her brain struggled to keep up with what her eyes and ears were telling her.

Every second that passed her seemed to last an eternity as she found herself descending further and further down the rabbit hole that she claimed as her own mind.

A voice calls her name next to her, but she can’t remember exactly who it was as she continues to process the information that was layed out before her.

Aunt Ophelia, Grandma Frump..Balthazar..Enid..and Tyler Galpin circled her mind like a record player on repeat as the prophecy taunted her with it’s echoes.

“Wednesday..” The voices whispered around her.

“Wednesday this is all your fault.” The voices danced in her mind.

"Wednesday must die!"

She felt her breathing erratic as she struggled to grasp the totality of the situation.

Confusion rattled her mind along with the disbelief that her own family would lie to her, keep such a earth shattering secret from her.

Her fingers grazed over the prophecy in hand as she found herself thrusted into the furthest depths of her mind, black tears oozing down her cheeks as she could physically feel herself falling, but somehow she knew someone would catch her.

That person always did.

“Wednesday.” Was the first thing she heard as she found herself in a clearing of a forgotten forest.

“What is it now.” She asked a mixture of confusion and dread lacing her voice as she turned to face the person speaking it was no surprise to her that it was her.

Aunt Ophelia.

“We finally meet.” She says matter of factly.

“I know what happened..where is grandmother keeping you?” She cuts straight to the chase because if the prophecy was right, time was definitely not on her side.

A small laugh escapes Ophelia’s lips as she shakes her head, “I see you’re a lot like me, hasty and impatient, Morticia must be beside herself.”

“I seek answers, not deflections.” Wednesday replies.

“Ms. Wednesday the youngest raven in our bloodline, and a Addams at that, a very dangerous combination for those that seek power and knowledge.” She says as she steps closer to her.

“Is the prophecy true?” She asks her voice too shaky for her liking, but it was something she had to know.

“You read it didn’t you?”

She had indeed, sneaking into Balthazar’s library and sifting through numerous books until she stumbed upon the secret passage that lead her to the answers she so desperately seeked.

She nodded.

“Then you know the history between Balthazar and my mother.” She said her voice drifting off.

“I do..”

Ophelia sighed, sitting down on a boulder next to a weeping willow.

“My mother, your grandmother was a optimist, a dreamer, just like Rosaline Rotwood had said..she was a lot like Morticia..ignorant to her own powers, only seeking love for fufillment…but this existed long before she met our father.” She said earnestly.

“Balthazar.” Wednesday said.

“Balthazar was the biggest and greatest mistake of her life, they met early in college, their romance was very much like a flame, hot, fast, and wild..Hester thought it a perfect match until one day somone approached her and told her who Balthazar really was..who his family really was..a wealthy family is what that claimed to be, but they weren’t just that, they were hydes and the agenda couldn’t be clearer.”

“Hydes and ravens as you now know have a long standing history, that traces all the way back to-”

“Goody Addams.” Wednesday finished.

“Correct.”

“Goody Addams contained magic that superceded what most people thought possible, so when her second in command one day suffered a fatal injury and nothing could be done, the outcast society was stunned when he appeared the next day, wound free, and perfectly normal, it turns out she had created a miracle potion, that seemed to cure fatal injuries only-”

“Something went extremely wrong.” Wednesday finished again.

“Correct again, You see Goody had used a ton of different ingredients to concoct that life saving potion, and everything seemed normal..until she noticed her second in command had suddenly developed a serious bond with her, one that didn’t exist to the level it had before, he seemed willing to do whatever she commanded..it was only when Goody was attacked one day where she saw the full scope of what she had done..because the next thing she knew, her dear friend had shifted into some monster tearing apart anyone who dared come near her.”

“A hyde..” Wednesday whispered.

“A hyde.” Ophelia nodded.

“Goody had accidentally created a monster of servitude, permanently linking her and any of her ancestors and their ancestors together for eternity.” Ophelia continued. “So for generations hydes and ravens have been linked, no matter where they are in the world, those bonds remain, then came Balthazar’s family, born and bread in wealth..very formidable in outcast society and normie society, their wealth controls various political outcomes and shifts in this world, as does the Addams bloodline, and Many other powerful families..except the Addams family are known decendants of Goody Addams..”

“What does this have to do with Balthazar and Grandma, she’s a Frump not an Addams.”

“True..but mother is a raven, and that much the Balthazar family knew, which is why they were thrilled when their eldest son decided to date her, they thought they could finally achieve what they had been brewing up for generations.”

“And what was that.” Wednesday asked even though she felt she knew.

“The liberation of hydes from ravens, you see their family had been paying scientist, spellcasters and anyone else who could find a way to break the link betweens hydes and ravens, and they finally thought they had achieved it..all they needed was-”

“A raven..Grandma.”

“Exactly, Mother learned of their plot and immediately fled heartbroken of the outcome, until she ran into..”

“Grandpa Frump.”

“Mhm..Balthazar however didn’t seem to know fully of his families plans and was left heartbroken over Hester’s quick departure, until his family informed him of their plot..and now-”

“He’s decided to carry on their legacy in breaking the curse.”

“Which is why it’s not safe for anyone right now, Balthazar will stop at nothing until he succeeds..”

”But why does he need me, My powers are already waning, I’ve upset a lot of people in my bloodline and they’ve taken my ability away from me, I’m barely a raven anymore.”

“True, but it’s not you power he needs, just your blood, a young ravens blood..from the Addams bloodline, the very bloodline that binded them would shatter the curse, which is why-”

“Wednesday Addams must die.” Wednesday voice shook.

“Now you get it.” Ophelia sighs stepping directly up to her. “Wednesday you’re running out of time.”

“There has to be another way to fix this.” She says desperately.

“If there is, you better find it, quickly, because if this binding between hydes and ravens are broken in the fashion that this spell is requiring, there is absolutely no telling how this might affect every hyde and every living raven on this planet, not to mention the revolution that Balthazar’s family is planning to claim independence from every outcast and normie out here, he seeks freedom and unlimited power.”

Wednesday releases a breath she didn’t know she was holding in.

“There might be a way..but it’s going to require something you most likely do no want to do.” She says knowingly.

“And what is that?” She asks confusion lighting her face.

“You need to talk to Tyler Galpin.”

“Uhg you sound just like Weems, talking to Tyler is not going to fix the current problem at hand.” She dismisses, she was tired of everyone telling her what to do, and more importantly how she feels, whatever happened in the past between her and Tyler had no place in what’s happening now, at least that’s what she’s convinced herself.

“He’s a hyde.”

“And?”

“Oh..you haven’t gotten that far.” Ophelia realizes.

A since of dread immediately fills her stomach.

“What do you mean?” Wednesday immediately bites, how many more secrets was she supposed to get today?

“As you know..Tyler’s Mother and Uncle were both Nights..and it just so happens Balthazar is also a Night.”

The realization hit her immediately.

“You don’t mean..”

“Balthazar is Tyler’s grandfather, Balthazar Night.” She reveals watching her niece grow even paler, which she didn’t quite know it was possible to reach that shade of color.

“Why are you telling me this.” She hisses.

“Because, Goody’s second in command was a descendant of the Night family as well..and if there is any other way to break the link between Ravens and Hydes, Addams and Nights, then I’m afraid it would be through the two of you, Wednesday Addams and Tyler Galpin you two are the key that will either make or break whatever happens next.”

Wednesday grits her teeth.

“And how exactly will we do that?” She snaps.

“That’s up to you to figure out.” Ophelia shrugs. “But you better hurry.” Was her final words as she found herself snapped back into reality and in the arms of the very last person she wanted to see right now.

Tyler Galpin.

“Wednesday, what happened, what did you see?” He asks immediately helping her up.

She shakes her head in disbelief, “No..No No No.”

He looks at her confused and with worry, “Wednesday?”

“Why is it always you!?” She snaps her voice cracking.

“What-”

“How do you always find your way in the middle of every single disaster that crosses my path!” She continues in complete disbelief at the odds.

“Me? You’re the one who attracts chaos wherever YOU go!” He snaps back.

She searches for a rebuttal but one escapes her as her mind races a mile a minute, this was too much, this was WAY too much. The fate of her entire family, every raven and hyde, and society as a whole was solely depending on her to save them, and now in order to do so, she had to rely on Tyler Galpin to fix it?

A laugh escapes her, followed by another.

“I was trying to help you!” Tyler defends.

“Help me? You’re the one who broke me in the first place!” She yells her voice carrying through the cobblestoned room.

He pauses confusion plastering his face, “What are you talking about!?”

“You’re the reason my powers aren’t working! You’re the reason Enid turned into a alpha-”

“You’re equally as guilty! Have you ever once thought that if you didn’t try to do everything on you’re own maybe you wouldn’t be in this situation to begin with!?”

“I wouldn’t have to if people would just stop lying to me!” Wednesday cried her voice breaking.

A silence fills the room immediately as Wednesday shakes her head her breathing heavy, her tears mixing in with her black ones, as frustrations consumes her.

“All everyone ever does is lie to me.” She says quietly and shaky. “So I have to do everything on my own, but it’s fine the path of a raven is supposed to be a lonely one, and I don’t need anyone.” She says mostly to herself in reassurance.

She looks at Tyler who is looking back at her, with a look that makes her want to vomit.

“Stop looking at me like that, I want no pity from you.”

“It’s not pity, I just understand you.” He says softly stepping a bit closer to her.

She scoffs, “Oh not this again, I’ve had enough of the two black hearted souls speech, I’m nauseous enough already, thank you.” She choked wiping her tears quickly and roughly.

Tyler sighs, “That’s not what I meant, I’m saying I thought the same way as you, that I don’t need anyone, and that I was fine by myself, but if this past couple of months have taught me anything, is that I’m not..The hyde camp..” He pauses thinking about Daisy and Atticus and everything they had been taught by Balthazar and how they have been brainwashed by his ideologies, but also how much they care about everyone in the hyde community as well.

“The hyde camp taught me that i’m not alone in this feeling, the feeling of being an outcast, the feeling of being thought of as a monster, there are people out there that can relate, and I want to save them, just like I wanted to help you save Enid.” He says.

“And i’m just supposed to believe you?” She finds herself whisper her browns furrowed in skepticism and continued disbelief.

“You freed me at the tower for a reason didn’t you?” Tyler asked suddenly catching her off guard. “Why?” He asked again, the same words he had uttered when it happened.

“I told you I missed.”

“You never miss Wednesday.” He corrected. “Rather it’s throwing knives or insults..you never miss.”

“Then why do you think I freed you?” She retorts.

“Because you wanted to believe I could change.” He says simply and humbly, “And I'm trying Wednesday.” He says taking another step closer as his hand finds her black tear stained cheek and caresses it softly.

“But in order to help you, you’re going to have to trust me and actually  let me help you.” He says finally.

“Trusting people hasn’t gotten me or you very far in the past.” She argues lightly.

“No..but those people were strangers to us, we’re no longer strangers to each other, are we?” He questions softly.

“No, I suppose not.” She says crossing her arms as he removes his hand from her cheek shooting her a soft smile.

“Then let’s figure this out together.” He says.

Wednesday nods her brain still reeling but more calm than before, knowing that whatever lies ahead, the two of them would have to figure it out together before it was too late.

Notes:

Hey guys, so this was a little one shot on how I picture Wednesday’s story line will go in Season 3, I tried to tackle what I think the plot will be while also including Wednesday's crash out, and how Tyler plays into the equation. Anyway I hope you like it, and I’m curious to what you’re theories are as to what we’ll see in Season 3.
