Notes:

I plan to focus on the main pairing and their genderswap versions only. Their personalities will not swap however, I continue to stick to detco's canon universe. The genderswap universe only applies to Heiji and Kazuha's generation. (The same goes for Shinichi, Ran and the others)

E.G: CANON UNIVERSE -> THEIR ORIGINAL GENDERS
NON-CANON UNIVERSE -> THEIR GENDERSWAP (Female Heiji, Male Kazuha, Female Shinichi/Conan etc.) [Few names are mentioned in this fic but I MIGHT mention them again in the next chapters based on the storyline.]

Edogawa Agatha -> Female name adaptation from Edogawa Conan's name, also inspired by the author "Agatha Christie"
Genderswap names mentioned, Ooka Hanata (Ooka Momiji) [CHAPTER 1]

Chapter 1: Unbelieveable Experience

Chapter Text

Somewhere in a different universe, two pairs of familiar figures can be seen walking on a sidewalk together after visiting Osaka Castle as a reward for solving the recent case led by the female detective. The “couple” barely had enough time to think what would happen next as they felt an invisible force, although they were surrounded by crowds of people in the central city of Osaka, they still felt something was wrong even in their world. This doesn’t make sense after all, right? They have never felt this kind of ‘power’ in their whole life.

Something about this doesn’t feel right.

Before they could react, their vision was surrounded by heavy-thick fog in circles. The crowd watches the fog begin to spread rapidly around the couple and reach other people, they watch as the teenagers disappear from their view. This intense moment made people jump into assumptions, that they had been kidnapped by an unknown individual, or perhaps a group. As nearby police officers arrived at the scene quickly, they were too late.

The abducted teenagers disappeared instantly, nowhere to be found by people around them. Some of the crowd began to run away from the alleged “kidnapping” attempt while some stayed watching the thick fog dissipate quickly; yet this is too weird for the “couple” to vanish into thin air.

The group of police swarmed the area and guided their citizens to a safe place away from the specific sidewalk. Once everyone was gone, one of the present police officers along with his partner walked over to the spot where the teenagers disappeared, only one belonging stood out the most on the ground. A purple-pink charm, Omamori.

None of the officers could figure out the conclusion yet, they should report this as a piece of evidence regarding the teenagers. They should also get witness statements from the people nearby, they knew that this kind of story would go viral in a matter of seconds before the police could handle it. One officer proceeds to call one of his mates to collect the possible evidence left on the ground, maybe the police chief might know about this evidence. Thus, the problem ensues in their world but might cause trouble in the main universe.

The teenagers fall from the sky as they prepare to embrace their deaths, but Kazuya won’t give up quickly as he begins to hold and protect his love of his life securely. Kazuya noticed something on the ground where he could make something else but a.. grass? He then braced himself and protected his girl from the oncoming danger ahead of them, he also held his crush’s head then closed their eyes together as they felt the impact on the ground. Surprisingly, they did not feel a single pain in their bodies when they hit the ground hard.

Kazuya realises that they hadn’t died yet after falling from the sky, he sat up slowly and looked at his surroundings while holding his girlfriend’s head firmly. He couldn’t comprehend how this happened even by looking at his childhood friend’s body, no injuries can be found on them as if something, or perhaps an unseen force they had felt before in their world protected them. It couldn’t be some sort of superpower or myths that existed in the modern day world, or maybe it does still exist; just hidden from plain sight.

Kazuya snapped out from his thoughts as he began to shake his childhood friend’s body slowly but panicking, he was relieved to see her waking up, slowly gaining consciousness as she also began to examine her surroundings left and right but back to Kazuya again. Heika then asked him, “Kazuya..? Where are we? Why are we not gravely injured..?” Kazuya responded, “No idea, Heika, this place overall looks the same in our world” Before Heika could respond, she could feel the stares from the people around them despite only fewer of them attending this specific park.

She swiftly got up from the ground, cleaning out dust on her clothes while Kazuya did the same. She then proceeded to argue to Kazuya that they somehow appeared in a place that they knew of but of course they couldn’t understand what they experienced, Kazuya argues back that any argument isn’t going to solve anything else. Kazuya guessed that this was going to be a long day for them.

Those crowds of people among them were shocked to see those teenagers who fell from the sky then landing on the ground without a single injury on their body, which was weird because they should’ve died on impact; but they didn’t. Somehow these people couldn’t bother to think that they got up normally then proceeded to bicker like a young couple.

They finally had the courage to step away from the teenagers as they began to make assumptions on their own just like what the people in the other world did when they disappeared into thin air.

Amongst those crowds who basically witnessed it were Mouri Kogoro, Edogawa Conan and Ai Haibara. They had witnessed the teenagers falling from the sky and somehow landing on the grass or the ground safely without injuries? They couldn’t believe their eyes even the uncle himself, this time he got common sense. Kogoro complained a little, “There’s no way they survived this fall, they should've died!”

Conan and Haibara agreed with the uncle’s words who finally came to a conclusion of his own logic without Conan’s help. But Conan couldn’t help the fact that he was looking at the teenagers’ looks and their personality, they acted like his rival, Hattori Heiji and his childhood friend, Toyama Kazuha.

Upon trying to examine the teenagers’ looks, Conan saw how they turned their face to another direction and was surprised to see that they looked like..? Heiji and Kazuha?! Conan looked at Haibara to see if she saw the same thing and she finally can recognise the teenagers’ appearance, the same clothes and accesories that Heiji and Kazuha usually wear based on their fashion styles. Heiji’s white cap and Kazuha’s yellow bow are both worn by the exact teenagers.

Conan could see the dark skinned girl who looked like Heiji wore the same cap as the Heiji he knew in this world as well the boy beside her wore a yellow beanie while Kazuha he knew wore a yellow bow on her ponytail. This seems too much of a coincidence as he watches them begin to walk away from the park, Kogoro doesn’t think much about them already since he pretty much told them off that they needed to go back to the agency to watch his favorite show, horse race probably.

Conan and Haibara gave him a side eye but couldn’t do anything about it. Conan watches as Kogoro and Haibara walk away without a problem while he takes a glance back at the teenagers’ and catches the boy glancing back at him too.

Conan must’ve sensed that he too, also sensed that both of the teenagers were being watched by a child. Conan had a lot on his mind surely but he quickly catches up to Haibara and the uncle, he needs to tell all about this to Heiji.

On the other hand, Kazuya, who had been secretly watching the little boy act like a certain detective, got himself concerned and suspicious. Heika, who was also paying attention to the boy as they argued, also noticed the little boy’s glares on them as he examined their appearance. Kazuya and Heika walked together once they reached outside the park and continued on the sidewalk. Kazuya asked his question without looking at Heika, “You saw that boy who was staring at us, right?” Heika could only glance at him for a small second before looking forward and responded with her Kansai accent, “Ye’ I saw, come to think of it, dat boy looked a lot like Agatha in our world?” Kazuya stopped in his tracks as well as Heika herself, he turned to look at her before asking another question, “What do ya’ mean, Heika..?”

Heika walked forward without hesitation, leaving Kazuya behind but he managed to catch up onto her. He grabbed her arm to make her respond, to which she did, “Edogawa Agatha, she acts da’ same way as dat boy does, right? Her thinking posture on her chin does da’ same way as dat’ boy, isn’t that.. A little too suspicious, Kazuya?” Kazuya thought for a bit and came to the conclusion that he had the same thoughts as Heika.

Kazuya watches as she continues to suspect the boy based on her theory, “Come ta’ think of it, this place really is Osaka, it’s just that something I could sense is a little different from our world, it seems that fate had chosen us to another universe.” Kazuya stared at Heika dumbfoundedly, who couldn’t believe what she had said in one sentence. Then again, Kazuya had no answer as he continued to listen to her, “Something about fallin’ from the sky and landing without injuries is suspicious, yes, but this is a problem that we hafta to figure it out by ourselves.”

Though this cannot be proven without evidence, Kazuya asked one final question, “So, are ya’ going to use your usual detective skills? It seems that ya’ are capable of doing dat’” Heika could only look at Kazuya and smile at him. It seems that Kazuya got her point that she’ll think about it, Heika felt that Kazuya can read her thoughts but never says much about it. Heika clenched her fist when she felt something on her right hand, she gently opened her hand as she saw a piece of paper. Kazuya stared at the crumpled paper as he watches Heika opened the paper, it read,

You have been tasked to find a specific item before going back to your own universe, it can be found in temples or shrines all over Japan. I’m sure you can figure this out all on your own, Detective of the West and my ‘peaceful’ one.

GOOD LUCK!

Kazuya could only stare at the paper itself while Heika did the same, she noticed her famous title being mentioned and Kazuya’s specific nickname given by Ooka Hanata, a boy she and Kazuya knew. Kazuya immediately thought of his name that appeared in his mind first, fuming his anger in his brain as Heika stared at him disapprovingly. However, Kazuya’s thoughts were disrupted by a slap on his back by Heika whereas he looked at her in complete disbelief as he felt the amount of stares around them, Kazuya just nodded and smiled at her. Heika continued to walk forward as she heard Kazuya following up behind her, she smiled lightly as she finally felt his presence beside her once again.

Kazuya doesn’t notice anything weird but Heika did, she felt a pair of eyes watching them as they both read the crumpled paper silently. She might have figured out that the pair of eyes watching them was behind the paper but that would’ve been impossible. Since the first thought that appeared on her mind was that boy they saw earlier, it couldn’t have been him.

So, who in the world would have done such a thing? It’s like they had been approved to solve these weird cases on their own together. Mostly Heika would’ve solved difficult cases alongside Agatha easily but this was different than any other cases. Maybe all she and Kazuya had to do is to solve cases on her own but will she be able to get to that conclusion? Maybe yes, or maybe not.

Meanwhile, on the train where Kogoro sat across from the pair, Conan and Ai. Conan was still thinking that the alleged doppelgänger between both teenagers sums up the suspicions of their characteristic and their personalities. Conan knew that Heiji and Kazuha don't have siblings since they both are an only child so why do those teenagers suddenly appear outta nowhere who fall from the sky and not have injuries at all.

Haibara saw how confusing that incident was and asked Conan about it,  “Kudo-kun, something about them feels off and I can sense that they’re not from our world.” Conan snapped out from his thoughts and looked into her direction, she stated that her assumptions might be correct that they are from another universe considering the witnesses around her said the pair had appeared into thin air, falling from the sky as a thick fog surrounds them.

It seems that what the witnesses saw and her eyes did state that the thick fog had protected them from the danger, that they were supposed to be dead. After all, there was no blood on the ground, they basically stood up and argued like nothing happened. Conan whispered to Ai’s ear, “Oi oi, does this mean they’re from another universe? Those people are counterparts of Heiji and Kazuha?”

Ai received his questions well enough and nodded, assuming her theory is right. Conan could only stare at the girl but went back to think his thoughts again while looking at the theory; they in fact did not know that Kogoro had pretended to sleep in order to listen few words from the kids’ conversation about the teenagers they had seen before but chose not to think about it since he waited a good timing to bring it up with the Osakan teenagers in this world.

Once they finally arrived back at Tokyo, the station was crowded like always, the trio walked until they finally saw familiar figures; Ayumi, Genta, Mitsuhiko, Ran, Kazuha and Heiji. Conan thought to himself as he began walking at them, “Hattori?”

Ayumi then saw Conan and Ai walking towards them alongside Ran’s father, as she waved and cheered them to come over to the group, “Ai-chan! Conan-kun! Over here!” Ai waved at Ayumi where she ran to give her a hug then gave the kids a bunch of gifts from Osaka while they were having a good time there, although they didn’t mention the incident that happened in the park. Ran and Kazuha walked over to Kogoro as he began to foolishly explain that he almost lost the kids while exploring the park, this of course made Ran angry but won’t yell at him in public since a lot of people might think a father-daughter relationship doesn’t get along with each other. Rather than yelling at her father, Ran and Kazuha gave a small scolding alongside an advice that he will never forget, Kogoro would keep that advice in mind.

Nevertheless, Conan approached Heiji without hesitation where he gestured the Osakan teenager to get close in order for him to whisper, “Oi Hattori, we saw this incident back in Osaka Castle Park, pretty weird experience. But once I do have time, I’ll explain it in detail.” Heiji closed off the distance between the boy and nodded as the boy gave an ‘okay’ gesture on his hand.

“Conan-kun? Here’s your shared gift Ai-chan gave us, she wanted to give this to you so you could get the same ones as us as well!” Ayumi exclaimed happily when she went over to Conan’s side, he accepted the gift politely and looked over to Ai who smiled at him gracefully. Conan knew that this might be a teasing way to make Conan and Ayumi seem like more than friends, even seeing the obvious snickers coming from Kogoro, Heiji, Genta and Mitsuhiko as well as the smiles and laughs from the teenage girls. Conan gave them an annoyed look but still, he couldn’t do anything about it to stop this moment.

Oh, he wishes to get back to his original body soon so that he could act mature like his actual age and not be with a group of kids he’s stuck with.

Back at the Osaka’s Prefectural Police Headquarters, in the canon universe, officers can be seen talking together gather in a huge group in the cafeteria, where they shared exchange glances to two familiar teenagers that has wide connections with the Superintendent and the chief of Criminal Investigators, they saw the similarity as the teenagers passed by the station in an unfazed manner yet the longer they stare at the pair, the longer they feel the threatening glare coming from the boy. This moment gave them a fright tension where they had to force themselves to look away.

Kazuya couldn’t stand the amount of stares people had been giving them ever since the park incident, the sidewalk and now the police station. Heika notices his change of behavior as well but doesn’t bother to stop him since it’s reasonable for him to act that way, although if Heika’s suspicions are correct that they ended up in another universe, it would be more complicated once she realises there would be no other people to help them.

What the officers didn’t know was that the Superintendent and his friend can be seen behind the wall, paying attention to their conversation. Ginshiro was the one that broke off the silence, “An alleged doppelgänger of our children, huh? What a weird encounter.” Heizo glanced at his friend briefly before paying attention to the officers again while thinking, “Hm, does Heiji know about this incident? Better ask him when he comes around”

Heizo had no choice but to call Heiji in his office where he told off Ginshiro to go over to the officers’ group to give out their statements about the doppelgängers and find answers. Ginshiro nodded at his friend’s order and went over to investigate the topic; these officers had seen them outside the police station. Heizo watches as his friend began to speak to their officers while he looked back and walked to this office to call his son, maybe knowing the fact that his son might have valuable information regarding this strange “case” that they had to find.
