Clearly, Jonathan's presence had an influence on Ardeth. Ardeth began to allow himself to be silly. He first noticed this when he saw Jonathan, Evelyn, and O'Connell escaping from the ruins of Hamunaptra.
Bay was relieved that the trio had escaped alive and defeated Imhotep, but his focus turned to the Englishman, and a plan emerged. Stealthily, Ardeth guided his camel to stand near Jonathan without anyone noticing. The man didn't understand why he was doing this, but he couldn't stop thinking about Jonathan's likely reaction. Then, at the opportune moment, he placed his hand on the Englishman's shoulder.
Not only Jonathan but his sister let out a huge scream, and O'Connell looked like he was about to have a heart attack as he pulled the woman close to him. Ardeth stifled a laugh that was about to escape his lips and pretended nothing had happened.
Then other silly situations continued to arise. Ardeth laughed so hard his head hurt while his boyfriend recounted all the messes he had already caused. Before Jonathan, Ardeth's family complained that he, the youngest of three siblings, was too serious. That Ardeth needed to relax more, to enjoy the happiness that life offers.
And Ardeth finally found someone he felt comfortable being silly with. Even during the trip to Ahm Shere, when Ardeth, Jonathan and the O'Connells were preoccupied with saving Alex and the world, Jonathan didn't leave his side and they comforted each other.
Rick and Evelyn were shaken by the kidnapping of their 8-year-old son, Evelyn's dreams, and the possibility that Rick was a Medjay destined to face the Scorpion King. Ardeth tried to reassure them, but he himself felt his anxiety exploding. Many things could go wrong. But Jonathan held his hand and began telling him random stories.
Jonathan was also worried about his family; his baby sister was having strange visions that even caused her to fall from the dirigible. His heart raced violently when he saw her fall and Rick jump to catch her. Jonathan and Ardeth ran as fast as they could to save them.
Fortunately, everyone was safe, but the scare was too great. Then he looked at Ardeth and tried to start a conversation to pull them both out of their shock. Silly and tender moments between the two were essential to endure the situation. Jonathan promised himself that, when his family got out of this chaos with Imhotep and the Scorpion King, he, his family and Ardeth would go on vacation somewhere.
So, after Ahm Shere, Ardeth took his boyfriend's family to rest at the Medjai camp. Jonathan had explained that Evelyn was killed by Ancksunamun, but Alex brought her back, and Rick was almost taken to the underworld, but Evy saved him. They all deserved rest. Ardeth saw Alex running and playing with the other children, Evelyn and Rick kissing and talking near their tent.
And Jonathan, of course, was his greatest companion. The laughter that Jonathan caused Ardeth to experience was so loud that Ardeth's mother appeared out of nowhere, amazed. "That's it, you're going to marry this man!" And she left while Ardeth exclaimed in shock, "Mother!" and Jonathan felt his cheeks flush.
