Akai was in the middle of making lunch, that he would leave for Shinichi to reheat after he came back from school, when Shinichi walked into the kitchen.
"You are here early," he said, noting that Shinichi came home about two hours earlier than he was supposed to on a Tuesday.
"Our English teacher simply didn't show up, I thought you might know more about Jodie-sensi's whereabouts."
Interesting. Akai was not aware of any mission she had, but one could never know what could come up and ever since their break up, they weren't close. "I don't."
"Our school doesn't either. No one even knew that she would be gone. The director was quite shocked that she just didn't show up, without any kind of notice."
That was worrying. Jodie was a person who took her job seriously, even if it was just cosplaying as an English teacher. "Likely that something much more important came along and she decided that leaving such a horrible impression on the school stuff was worth it." Either that or she didn't have any time to contact anyone. Maybe both. "So your English teacher didn't show up for two classes today and they dismissed you just like that?"
"Of course they didn't."
"Of course you'd be the one to skip class. You look too prim and proper in that school uniform, one would never know."
Shinichi hummed in agreement. "I won't say that my premonitions are correct, but I do have a bad one regarding this and I'd rather act on it than watch." The Black Organisation was supposed to be gone, he had his body back, but there was a reason both Akai and Jodie-sensei were still in Japan, still living undercover. "She's always been a punctual woman and I've written to her, the image hasn't even been received."
"I'll contact Black." Shinichi having a bad feeling was never a sign that should be ignored. He had a good intuition regarding that stuff.
