Work Text:

Wally couldn't remember when he first entered the neighborhood of Home. In fact, he couldn't really recall anything from before Home. That he could easily think that he just always been here. But he knew that wasn't the case.
Home, his friend, but also the owner of the neighborhood Home. Has a very unique power. One he doesn't really understand. The ability to package memories into a new part of the body, manifesting into a flower growing from the body. Keeping the memory away from their mind.
And the first thing he can remember, is Home pulling off the only flower he had at the time. The best way he could describe the feeling, was his hair being yanked out. But luckily the actual pain part didn't last long.
The moments after as it turned into a soft ache instead though, was very confusing. He felt so dazed, as everything around him was blurry. And his mind felt like it was underwater with how all his thoughts were washed away.
Until Home wrapped three, of their four arms, around him. And his vision cleared just enough to be able to see it.
"O-oh. Hello. Who are you?"
The other tilted their head slightly. Before gently taking one of his arms, and writes a name on it with it's finger.
'Home.'
Home? What a odd name. Well, he couldn't help but think so anyway. But then again, he wasn't sure what his name even was.
"Who am I?" He now questions.
Home answers with writing another name on his arm.
'Wally.'
"Wally?" He couldn't help but repeat in confusion. "Where am I?" He tries to look around them, but he could only barely make out what he think are brightly colored trees.
Home is just written on his arm again, causing even more confusion. Is it saying this is his home? It made sense he suppose, why else would he be here? And even as the other pulls him closer. The gentleness of it was clear, it felt like it was holding him like he was precious. He can only assume they must know each other.
"Do we know each other? I can't remember you." Right after he said it, he realized that that might be upsetting. But luckily Home didn't seem to be. Only writing a few more words on his arm.
'I know. It's okay. Yes we know each other.'
"Do you know why I can't remember anything?"
They don't reply right away to that. Looking, uncertain. Whether or not it was because it didn't know, or because they weren't sure if it wanted to tell him, he couldn't say.
But in the beat of silence. Home moves the one arm that wasn't holding him, up to their face, to their fireplace. Pulling his attention up to the soft blue flower that was within their hold. It was very pretty. And they leave it there right by said fireplace.
'Yes.' Home finally answers. Pulling his attention back to them. Just as it continued. 'You had a lot of bad memories. So I hid them away within this flower.'
He tilted his head slightly. Before trying to take the flower to look at it closer. How can something so small hold all his memory?
But Home instantly stops him, taking his hand within their own. Before placing a gentle kiss to his palm. As they write another sentence.
'You'll be okay. I'll protect you any way I can.'
He just stared at the other. As he wasn't sure what to think about that. Was his memories really that bad?
But with the way they pulled him into a soft embrace, he didn't feel like it mattered. As he just rests his head on it's shoulder. Really enjoying the warmth and tenderness.
"Okay."
Home stood then, bringing him along with them in its hold.
Still, he couldn't stop wondering what those old memories were.
But it was so easy to get settled here with Home being so sweet to him. Although realizing Home could control the actual house, along with their puppet body, was a bit shocking.
-
Home knew what they had done wasn't right. But even with knowing this, they refuse to give Wally his memories from before meeting them back.
While it was true that Wally had a lot of really bad memories. He had just enough good ones that it shouldn't have hidden all of them.
But Home been so horribly lonely for far too long now. And if he had no memory of his old home, he wouldn't want to leave them and go back there. So it'll keep those memories locked away along with all the bad ones. No matter how guilty it felt.
No one ever came into this forest. And based on Wally's memory. He was only here because he got lost. It had no idea when another would ever come by again. So they needed him to stay. They will make this place perfect for him to make sure he doesn't leave.
So as another ability it has, is being able to form any furniture or items. It immediately forms things they know Wally will like based on the memories they have technically stolen. Such as all kinds of art supplies. A record player. Bottles of bubbles. And the most cozy and comfortable blankets and pillows.
Unfortunately it has no food within the house at the moment. But as Wally loved apples, and there's a orchard near by. They could go picking them tomorrow. Hopefully water will be okay until they can get those, along with more other types of food too. No better how much he likes apples, he'll still need other food to live.
Although they wasn't fully sure how to get those... But maybe they both could go into a town for them. They just needed to avoid Wally's hometown, in case anyone recognize him.
With just losing all his memories, it would be good to rest a while, even with Wally not truly sleeping himself like most do. So they lay him on the newly formed bed, with all the cozy blankets. Before writing the word 'Rest' on his arm.
Wally stares at them for a beat, before looking at the bed. "Are you going to rest too?"
Its eyes widened in surprise. Although maybe they shouldn't be, as within his memory, he did seem to enjoy resting around others, even if not fully cuddling. So it writes another sentence. 'If you want me to.'
He tilted his head slightly. "Do you want to?"
Warmth fills them at this. 'Yes. Are you okay with it?'
He brightens, even if just barely. "Yes." He now grabs their dress, trying to pull them closer, causing them to chuckle.
Its very glad they made the bed far bigger then Wally, so it can still easily hold them both. Wrapping all four arms around him, and rests its head on his. They're filled with fondness as he melts into the embrace.
Laying here together they knew this was the start of a better life for them both.
