Work Text:
He was restless in his arms.
Takumi twitched every few seconds, his face showing dread and alarm. It wasn’t quite unlike how Yugamu remembered sleeping himself when he was younger after all of the training he had gone through for assassination missions.
That didn’t compare to seeing Takumi’s face as one of their friends died.
Yugamu leaned his head down to Takumi’s ear. “Takumi…”
Takumi made a soft groaning noise and turned over on his stomach, face in Yugamu’s lap.
“You are such a heavy sleeper,” Yugamu huffed, and he wondered if he should just stab him awake for once—that was a terrible idea… he’d put it on the back-burner.
He reached his hand under Takumi’s shirt, nails digging into his back but not deep enough to cause him any pain. Perhaps physical closeness would be enough to stop him from having nightmares.
Yugamu had his own arrays of ways to stop nightmares, but he couldn’t exactly get Takumi to use them. There was the possibility that he could come up with a way to help Takumi without waking him up, so that was what he would choose to do.
His hands rubbed against Takumi’s back—up and down and kneading his tense muscles.
“Damn,” he chuckled softly, his fingers stopping to rest on the back of Takumi’s neck, “you got a free massage from me. How unfair of you.”
His requests to massage (or torture, really) were more so jokes, but Yugamu had been trained to massage bodies for missions that required him to have that job. He had a lot of random certifications for different jobs from the needs of his contracts.
And now a skill that was once used for killing was now being used on someone he had no intent to kill… in the near future, at least.
As he thought back on his job—his life, practically—he noticed that Takumi had stilled on him, breathing slowed and relaxed. He was laying on his side, head and palms resting on Yugamu’s lap.
“Good boy,” Yugamu whispered, pressing his thumb against Takumi’s bottom lip. “You did in a minute what took me years…”
After so many sleepless nights throughout his entire life, he was proud; he was helping someone get through their new life—one of killing and nightmares and despair.
And, perhaps, that despair would end sometime soon.
To make up for what he couldn’t do for his younger self, Yugamu would make it his mission to keep Takumi safe.
