The morning sun blares through the lace curtains making Squiddo squirm in her bed. Covering her face with their blanket, she groans as their loyal right hand man, 4civt (More like best friend and baby sitter but Squiddo wont admit it.).
"Rise and shine! You can't stay in bed forever, it's already 8 am, you have a party to host!" His voice is bright and chirpy as he opens the curtains wider.
"Uuummghh... I don't want to though! It's nice and warm here! The party can wait!" Squiddo yelps and 4c unsuccessfully tries to drag her blanket off them. "Wait nooo!"
4c giggles at the sight of his best friend as a pile on the ground, their hair messy, their blanket tossed aside and curling into a ball to preserve the last of the heat her bed provides.
"Stop being so dramatic, you need to get up Squiddo." 4c tsks as Squiddo attempts to throw their round pillow at him.
"Fine. But get out!" Squiddo huffs.
It's my 18th birthday, and my party is gonna be huge! Like, so SO huge. Best of all I get to see one of my friends! Ashswag! Well... they weren't friendddss... but they knew each other! And their kingdoms are close! Even though I don't think he likes me that much…
Squiddo lightly pushes 4c out of their room, claiming that they needed to get changed, but in reality she just flops onto their bed and sits there for a couple more minutes until she finally grabs their glasses and starts to get ready. Once she is ready they examine themselves in the mirror. They had a nice light pink dress on with orange lacing and gold lining around the rim of the dress, her sleeves - which are small, round and puffy as if they are fluffy clouds - and their waist.
"Squiddo?" 4c knocks "Are you ready? Your parents are waiting for you.
"Yes, yes. I'm coming, don't worry." Squiddo opens the door to see 4cvit more tidy than he usually is, even for her birthday. He was wearing black short pants with white socks up to his knees, kinda tacky but that's just royal fashion. Squiddo raises an eyebrow but 4c just waves them off and rolls his eyes. "What?!"
"Oh, Squiddo." 4c giggles and struts down the hallway startling Squiddo.
"Wait for me!" Squiddo rushes to catch up to him, and almost trips on their dress.
4civt and Squiddo walk down the hallway that leads to a small lounge with 3 small chairs each of them are a violet, red color. Squiddo never really liked them because they were uncomfortable, but it doesn't really matter because she never had to sit in them often.
Her parents are sitting across from her and gestures to them to sit on one of the chairs. Squiddo looks at 4civt for an explanation but he just dips his head, agreeing with their parents for them to sit down.
“Child, we have something to announce.” Squiddo's mother says calmly, yet she makes Squiddo start to freak out.
“Of course mother! What would you like to say?” Squiddo sits down immediately, her voice is way more calm than what she feels.
“Well… me and your father have decided that it's time for you to get married.” Here's mother says, and just like that Squiddos world just flips upside-down.
“Oh! That's just lovely.” Squiddo forces a smile
Were royal supposed to get married at 18? Yes… they were. I learnt about this.
“Who's my fiance?” Squiddo tries to make her voice strong but fails and wavers.
“Ashwag of the Glitch kingdom.” Their father responds carefully. “Your marriage will be announced today at your party.”
“Oh. That's nice. Thank you Father, thank you Mother.” Squiddo dips their head
“Dismissed.” Her Mother states simply.
Squiddo bows her head before returning to her room, 4c close behind them. After shutting their door, Squiddo falls onto her bed and covers her face with her pillow.
“4C! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO :(????!!!!” Squiddo uses their special power (aka saying emoji cons irl) “I don’t wanna get married:(!!!”
4c represses a laugh and puts on a sympathetic face “Your parents have been planing this for ages… I don't know how you haven't noticed. Our kingdoms have been allied for so long.”
“I thought we were just allies!!!!!! I dont wanna get married!!!! I have so much left to live for!”
“And you can live it in peace… with a husband.”
“NOOO!!!” Squiddo yelps and buries her face deeper into her bed and pillows as if they can stand to hear the word ‘H-U-S-B-A-N-D.’
“It can't be that bad, you already know Lord Ashwag, plus you will be heavily guarded with the invisible mafia that Lord Ashwag has at his disposal.” 4c tries to comfort Squiddo but to no avail.
“... Can I invite Kab over…?” Squiddo asks 4c.
“Of course you can, as long as you're not disturbing her.” 4civt says and gets up to write a letter to Princess Kaboodle to invite her over.

“Lord Squiddo? Princess Kaboodle is here to see you.” One of Squiddo's maids knock on their door before opening it and letting Kaboodle in Squiddo's room.
“Thank you.” Squiddo dismisses the small woman then shuts the door after letting Kab in.
“Hi Squiddo! Happy birthday! But… Why did you send me a letter? Is everything okay?” Kab asks, the concern on her face was loosely and poorly masked as she leans against Squiddo's light magenta walls.
“Kab I don’t know what to do!” Squiddo gets up and hugs Kaboodle, and lets out a low groan. “I'm getting married!”
Kaboodle pushes off the wall, and hugs Squiddo back, the concern, and confusion now visible on her face. “Woah! Congratulations!? Aren't you happy?”
“No! Of course not! I'm the opposite of happy! I don't want to get married :(!” Squiddo hugs Kab tighter, as if they were trying to squeeze all Kab's organs out of her.
“Ow. Ow! Squiddo!!! Too tight!” Kab gasps for air and pushes away Squiddo but just a tiny bit.
“Sorry…” Squiddo murmurs loosening her hug but still clinging onto Kaboodle for dear life.
“Why aren't you happy about it?” Kab eventually asks.
“I have so much to live for! I don't want a husband! It's gonna be a nightmare! And… and!” Squiddo buries themselves in Kaboodles sleeve.
“And..?” Kab presses
“My fiance is… Ashwag.” Squiddo whispers softly.
“Ashwag?! Of the Glitch kingdom?! Thats crazy!-” Kab gasps, her jaw drops, and Squiddo buries herself even more in Kaboodles clothes. “Sorry… sorry.”
“I don't wanna get married…” Squiddo repeats, this time quieter.
“Squiddo… you'll be safe in his kingdom. You live your life peacefully.” Kab comforts stroking Squiddos hair “Plus you already know Ashwag!”
“You're just saying what 4cvit said…” Squiddo murmurs, breaking away from Kab and falls onto their bed. “My stupid marriage is going to be announced on my birthday today…”
“Oh right! Your birthday is going to be fun, right? You can try to take your mind off your marriage!” Kaboodle sits down beside Squiddo.
"I guess you're right... But I still don't like what's happening today..." Squiddo huffs
"Lets just take your mind off it okay? Lets go prepare for your party!!!"
Squiddo smiles and gets up from their bed. "Okay.”

Squiddo looks outside and sees 4 people, they can't make out who it is, but two of them are hand in hand and mingling while the others are murmuring and teasing the two behind them. The taller person's face seems to be growing redder due to the teasing.
“People are already arriving, it's only 3 o'clock… right? WHAT?! IT’S ALREADY… uh hold on… 4:47PM?!!!! WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN!!!!” Squiddo whips around and shakes Kaboodle's shoulders and dashes out the doorway, picking up her dress and rushing out the “I NEED TO GREET THE GUESTS!”
“Squiddo!” Kab reaches out, but misses
"Goodness Squiddo!" 4c moves barely out of the way as Squiddo runs past.
"4c! Who are the guests???" Squiddo spins around skidding to a halt.
"Lets see... uh..." 4c looks down at his notepad that Squiddo had just noticed. "Prince Pangi, Lord Jumper Who, Lord Vitalasy and... Prince Zam."
"JUMPER! ZAM!" Squiddo jumps and races down the hallway just as Kaboodle catches up to them.
"No, Squiddo!!!" Kab reaches out and misses again then sighs as she sees Squiddo leave quickly. "Why are they so fast..."
Squiddo gets to the door just as the guest walks into their front garden.
"SQUIDDO!" Squiddo jumps at the sound of her mothers strong voice. "Your hair!"
Squiddo looks in the reflection of her tinted pink window to see that her hair was sticking up 'slightly' and went all frizzy.
"Oh. Oops." Squiddo flattens their hair then opens the door to greet their guests, ignoring a scoff from her mother, clearly unimpressed. "Hello! Welcome to my birthday!"
Squuddo greets each person in turn, Prince Zam being last.
"Squiddo how have you been!" Jumper curties in return, in turn the rest of the group bows as well.
"Oh, just wonderful! (That's a massive lie, jumper please forgive them.) "I'm so glad you could make it!"
Of course, I wouldn't miss this for the world!" Jumper smiles warmly as Squiddo invites her inside.
"Vitalasy." Squido bows her head in respect. "Happy for you to join us in this day of celebration."
"My plesure." Vi returns the welcoming gesture.
Squiddo nearly cringes, she never likes formal greetings, they were like the clothing sense, tacky. After talking to Pangi, Squiddo could finally talk to Prince Zam!
"Zam! How have you been?" Squiddo steps inside, Zam following behind them.
"Just fine, thank you! And you? Zam curties, lifting her light blue dress up to her knees before dropping it back down to its normal length.
"Excited!-" Squiddo says before stopping at the sight of something glimmering on Zam's left hand.
"Zam..." Squiddo gasps as Zam holds up his hand shyly.
"Pangi proposed!" Zam says in a high pitch, squeaky tone.
"WHAT? Squiddo slaps their hands over their mout. "Ohmygosh! Tatssocuteawww!!! Yougysaregonnabethecutestcoupleeverahh!!!”
