Visions

Summary:

During a bad storm, Jun finds Tatsuya fighting off a prophetic vision and has to help him through it.

Notes:

This is probably really rough, but I’ve had this vague urge to explore some small ideas I’ve had for persona 2’s crew (namely Tatsuya tbh) and I’ve been trying for an entire day to get SOMETHING out to share the idea. I think it’s really cool, but the wombo combo of how long it’s been since I played p2 and the vagueness of my ideas today have been beating my ass. So, I hope this is a fun and interesting read, but I also hope you can forgive it being a lil wonky <3.

Work Text:

The brief flash of lightning illuminated the living room while the wind rattled the trees and howled outside. The low rumble of thunder and steady drum of the rain combining with it all to turn what had been a peaceful night into a chaotic cacophany.

Jun Kurosu found it soothing to listen to, in an odd way, while he distributed a handful of fat, white pillar candles around the livingroom. The rhythm of the heavy rain against the windows was far better than a silence that let his thoughts fester. Though, the frantic way the flames danced ruined the soft, romantic atmosphere.

Once the living room was illuminated, the ravenette went to the coat closet by the front door and softly knocked.
“Tacchi? Are you okay in there?” He asked. An unsteady,
“Yeah…” confirming the brunette’s hiding spot in the same breath that it put the florist on edge.

Tatsuya Suou had never liked intense storms like the one that had struck that night, but Jun knew how the man’s voice grew stiff and overly calm when he was scared. The voice from the closet wasn’t stiff and forced, it was distant. Almost sleepy. It was a subtle difference, but it was a critical one.
“I’m going to bring you a candle, Tacchi.” He said before he turned back to the living room despite the weak groan of complaint from his boyfriend. He returned shortly with a candle in hand and opened the door to find his boyfriend squished into the left back corner with a throw blanket wrapped around himself so that he could hide from the wildly flickering light.

Jun didn’t unwrap him right away. He closed the door and sat beside him with the candle in front of them and thunder rolling outside. The silence eventually broken when Tatsuya spoke again,
“Please put away the candle, junbug…”
“No. If you’re having a vision, you need to let it out. Refusing to give the warning won’t stop the events from passing, honeysuckle.” the ravenette explained again before he reached over to tug the blanket away and keep the disshevelled brunette from curling up into a ball. “I’ll be right here with you, Tacchi, you’ll be fine.”

The pale man felt awful when he saw the state that his boyfriend was in. He was so out of it that he barely reacted when the building shook slightly from the thunder. His chocolate-brown eyes flicked around the coat closet the same way the candle light did. Though, they never settled on anything for long. Tatsuya didn’t even look at Jun when he pulled the blanket further away and tried to get him to look down at the candle.
“I...don’t like this.” He muttered in a gruff voice that the ravenette only heard when he was half awake in the morning.
“It’ll get better once you stop fighting it, honeysuckle. Just look at the candle and relax.” He encouraged. And with a bit more soft nudges and assurances, the brunette’s glazed-over eyes finally settled onto the candle’s flame.

Tatsuya stilled almost as soon as he let himself watch the fire dance with an unblinking stare. A few heartbeats passing before the tanned brunette finally began to speak in a steadier, more authoritative voice.
“The kingdom will fall at the hand of the jesters when the sky fills with blood. The same hands that will snatch the gilded cup from the hands of the king will tear down the palace walls with smiles on their faces.” before the candle snuffed itself out and Jun had to catch his boyfriend before he slumped forward and face down on the closet’s hardwood floor.

After a brief moment, Tatsuya pushed himself off of Jun and began slapping his hand around the closet floor until he found his blanket and could wrap it around himself once more. With a groan, the brunette collapsed into Jun’s lap. Seemingly too tired to care anymore about the continued drum of rain outside.
“See? Don’t you feel better now?” the ravenette asked as he ran his fingers through his boyfriend’s messy hair. Only getting a groan from the man before he let him sleep off his inevitable anxiety-and-stress-induced headache. Jun spent the time memorizing the prophecy and enjoying the muffled storm that had ebbed.
