Work Text:
It was a nice summer night in Juban, as Shinobu, Mitsuri, Minako, and Makoto were getting ready for bed by playing a high-stakes truth or dare.
“Truth or dare, Mitsuri!!” As Minako asked, poking her fingers at Mitsuri.
“I guess… Truth.” She replied.
“Alright. Who do you have a crush on?!” Minako asked, in a sort of forcing manner.
All the girls seriously wondered why Minako has such a liking for these kinds of things. All of this swooning over a boyfriend, hoping one would fall into her arms (or she would fall into one), was the kind of talk Minako would muster all the time, so no wonder she asked a question like this. “Yeah, Mitsuri! Speak up!"said Makoto, also sort of forcingly. Shinobu giggled, knowing that if Mitsturi didn’t answer quickly enough, she would be forced to hand over her favorite nail polish.
That’s why this was a high-stakes truth or dare.
You bet your belongings against it. Mitsuri was blushing like crazy, trying not to scream as she sweated buckets. Looking at the hopeful eyes of the other three girls finally made her crack.
“I um… I really like…” Stammered Mitsuri. The other girls could hardly contain their excitement.
“Obanai!!” Mitsuri blurted out, and then mashed her face into her sleeping bag. The other girls started bombarding Mitsuri with more questions, like, “Oh my gosh, does he know?” and “Did you kiss him yet?” This sort of stuff. Then through the chaos, Shinobu stood up and shouted.
“SILENCE! You’re stressing her out! Are you okay, Mitsuri?” Said Shinobu, trying to silence Makoto and Minako before Mitsuri dies of a panic attack.
Mitsuri nodded as she sat back up again. “Instead of bombarding her like this, we should help her confess and become a thing with her lover!” Shinobu requested. Minako jumped up, grabbing some makeup from Mako’s vanity table.
“You should glam up! Every boy likes a beautiful, attractive (maybe sexy, but you definitely are that) girl!”
The girls winced at that sentence. Then Makoto said, “You should bake him some desserts, get a bouquet, and confess in the middle of the park!”
“I don’t know anything about love, but I do know that when people are aroused, their adrenaline gets a rush!” Said Shinobu.
"Well, we have no choice then.” Said Minako, snatching Mitsuri’s phone. Mitsuri screamed at Minako to give it back, but Minako was busy typing something in. “Sent!” Screamed Minako, as Mitsuri snatched her phone back.
“I got you a date with him! Next week Saturday at lunch at the Crown Cafe. He seems excited! Eeee!!” Shrieked Minako.
Seeing how terrified and how close Mitsuri was about to cry, Minako decided that she should stop being so dramatic. Besides, not everyone had such an intense passion for romance. “Instead of just doing things against her consent, we should help Mitsuri with her love life. We can start by picking out a dress for the date and teach her how to text and have a casual conversation with Iguro-san. That’s a good start!” Said Makoto, trying to smooth out the situation. All the girls nodded in unison.
“Then tomorrow, first thing, we will go clothes shopping. And, download AR Runway on your phone to compare outfits and get the best fashion advice!” Said Minako, shoving her phone app in Mitsuri’s face. It was decided. Clothes shopping tomorrow, first thing in the morning.
Tomorrow morning...
The next morning, the girls gathered at the Juban Shopping Center to look for clothes. This was a favorite hangout spot of Minako’s, as it included trendy shops and colorful clothing, plus amazing deals, and the cherry on top? Cute and sexy guys at every corner Minako could swoon at.
The girls first went into a dress store, where they gazed at all kinds of colorful dresses with all these different vibes. In the end, they picked a one strap summer dress with beautiful pink flowers all around the dress. Minako also pointed out one that shows cleavage, as that’s what boys love most and sexy girls like Mitsuri look best in those. She also added that one strap dresses show elegance in a secretly seductive way. The girls only listened to one of her advice. You could guess which.
They left the store and pulled Minako out of a trance as she stared at a cute boy.
The rest of the day went on, as the girls were getting makeup and particularly talking about blush and lipstick, as the right shade can bring out immense beauty but the wrong one can spell immense disaster, Minako was staring at something far away. Mako assumed it was another hot guy, so she pulled her away. But Shinobu assumed it was someone else they knew, so she paid especially close attention.
The girls then left the makeup store, having bought everything they needed.
“Now all we have to go to is a shoe store to pick out a delightful pair of sandals, high heels, or platforms. I’ve put in your outfit data on AR Runway, and they recommend 1-inch platformers.” Chirped Mako, as the girls were headed down the street. They always trusted Mako with advice, especially with cooking and sometimes fashion, as whatever outfit her app chose never was wrong or unstylish in any way. She could become a model with just a phone app.
“Guys. GUYS! Listen up! I saw-” Said Minako before she was cut off by Mitsuri’s delightful squeal at the sight of a lovely bubble-gum pink platform sandal. So they all went to check it out, leaving Minako with an unfinished thought, which she hated.
Especially if it was about boys.
Again inside the store, Minako was caught staring at something as the other three girls were all roused up over a 50% summer sale for all items. After Mitsuri tried on the shoe, liked it, bought it, then fought over the cashier about getting scammed, the girls were on their way again, now with a perfect wardrobe for Mitsuri for her Saturday date. All that’s left was to grab some lunch and teach Mitsuri on date etiquette so she can be as “Polite, elegant, and seductive at the same time!” Claimed Minako.
But when they were about to leave the shopping center, a familiar man in a black-and-white shirt wearing a mask walked by, and Minako frantically poked Mitsuri to turn around. Mitsuri turned around and saw Obanai about to leave the shopping center after buying something in a little green bag. Mitsuri knew this was her chance to practice talking to him before the actual date, and the girls urged her to. She knew that without the girls’ support, she couldn’t do it by herself, so she figured it’s now or never. The other girls must’ve thought the same, because they urged Mitsuri to go talk to him.
Before she could walk over, Obanai was talking to another salesclerk about a small piece of clothing that looked sort of striped. So the girls had to wait. At the time, Mitsuri started second-guessing herself. “What if I trip over myself? What if I mess up? What if I get too embarrassed? What if he thinks I’m clingy and weird?” Squealed Mitsuri as she covered her face with her hands. Her face was turning a bright tomato red, and the girls were struggling so hard to not laugh. Then the salesclerk finished talking to Obanai.
“I have to go up now!” Said Mitsuri, gathering all her courage.
The girls did a mini-applause and encouraged her to go forth. When Mitsuri was walking towards Obanai, he suddenly turned around, and then….
