Work Text:

Role model, that is what Takigawa Chris Yu was to Miyuki Kazuya. At least that’s what Miyuki thought. However, as days passed it was clear that what he felt for the third year was more than just someone he looked up to.

Miyuki gleamed as the third-year catcher caught a rather difficult pitch.
“Nice pitch, Sawamura”, Chris states before getting up from his position to throw the ball back at the pitcher.

“OSHI”, Sawamura shouts cheerfully at the praise before catching the ball. This causes Chris to chuckle. Miyuki would have smiled if it weren’t for the fact that he wasn’t the cause of Chris smiling.

Miyuki frowns before he snorts and rolls his eyes. “Your pitch may have strength but you have zero control, Sawamura. Isn’t that right, Chris-senpai?”

Chris sighs. “Well that might be true but it’s better to also acknowledge his strength as well. Don’t you think so, Miyuki?” he states with a smile.

Miyuki was rather flustered by the smile directed at him that he became speechless, his cheeks even started to flush pink.

Sawamura eyes widen before he starts to laugh. “Miyuki are you blushing?”

Miyuki’s cheeks continue to redden.

“What’s wrong Miyuki? Are you feeling sick?” Chris asks in concern.

“He’s blushing!” Sawamura teases

“Is he now? Well, that’s rather charming”, Chris says with a light chuckle.

Sawamura’s mouth drops at the statement.  "Miyuki? Charming? You’re kidding right?“

Chris chuckles lightly. "Sawamura, don’t be rude. Miyuki can be charming in his own way.”

Miyuki felt his face continue to heat up even more. So he looks down to hide his face.

Sawamura rolls his eyes before he sighs  and looks back at the third-year catcher. “Chris-senpai, are we going to continue with practice or what?”

“Of course, Sawamura”, Chris says before bending back down in position.

Miyuki looks over. His heart continues to race in his chest. He knew then that this admiration he had for the third year catcher wasn’t just admiration. He had undoubtedly developed a crush on Takigawa Chris Yuu.

More and more days continue to pass by and it was getting harder for Miyuki to deny his feelings for the third year. He couldn’t but be attracted to him. He wanted to the catcher to acknowledge him, to smile only at him, to laugh at his jokes and ultimately to be forever his. It was getting to the point where his crush for the third year started to distract him from practice. More often than not, Miyuki would be caught just gazing at Chris which would cause him to mess up and miss plays or misinterpret calls. He knew that he had to do something about this crush of  his because he couldn’t afford to be distracted any longer.

Miyuki knew what he had to do. He had to be bold and just confess to him. What was eating him up from the inside was the fact that he had to keep it all a secret. He had figured if the third year just knew he could get rejected and just move on with his life. He knew that’s what he should do but that didn’t mean he was going to. As blunt as he is when it comes to telling the team what they need to work on, he wasn’t as honest when it came to his own feelings. So instead Miyuki decides to try and endure it until Chris graduates.

However, the difficulty of keeping his feelings hidden for another two months really was too much for him. Especially since the idiot pitcher kept clinging onto the third year like a puppy. Miyuki knew he couldn’t just hide his feelings any longer.

One day Chris had asked Miyuki to help him in the equipment shed. Miyuki knew he wasn’t going to waste this opportunity of being alone with him.

“Miyuki we need to talk”, Chris starts to say as he puts the basket of baseballs down. “What’s with you? Your performance has been tremendously lacking. Even the coaches are getting worried. Is something the matter?”

Miyuki’s eyes widen, rather surprised by the sudden concern. He sighs as he closes his eyes. Miyuki then looks back at the third year. “I like you”.

“I like you too, Miyuki but that’s not the point here. The point is that y-”

Miyuki grabs Chris’s arms and holds them down as he stares intensely into his eyes.
“No. Chris. You don’t get it. I like-like you as in I really… like you.”

Chris’s eyes widen in shock. He couldn’t believe his ears.

Miyuki lets go of his arms, steps back and avert his gaze as his cheeks start to flush red in embarrassment.  "I…I’ll go now.“

However, before he got away Chris grabs his arm. "Wait. I haven’t given you a proper response.”

Miyuki doesn’t look at him. “You don’t need to. I already know the answer.”

Chris pulls the second year catcher into his chest and embraces him. “No, you don’t. I like you too, Miyuki. And not in the "kouhai-senpai” way you think it is"he states. He smiles down at him. “Why else would I ask only you to help me today?”

“Because everyone else is an idiot and not capable of doing something like this” Miyuki states bluntly.

Chris chuckles. “That may be true but there is another reason,” he says with a smile as he looks over at Miyuki. “I wanted to one, ask why you have been struggling during practice and two, tell you how I feel.”

Miyuki felt his cheeks heat up while his heart race in his chest. He didn’t even dare turn around to look at the third year. However, Chris caught on and swiftly turns him to face him.

Before Miyuki could even react, lips were suddenly placed on his own. His eyes quickly shut as he grabs the third year’s face and pulls him deeper into the kiss. Chris had shoved him against the door as he continues to kiss him fervently. If there were more ruckuses than usual coming from the equipment shed that day no one said anything about it.

Miyuki was in love with someone whom luckily for him, loved him back and that’s all that matters.
