Work Text:
Gwendolyn has been thinking long and hard about what she should do for days after finding out the truth but has yet to come to a decision.
Today was her only chance until Monday, she had to make a decision now.
Should I tell them? No, I can't. My siblings would be taken.
She slid her t-shirt over her head.
But what about me? I can't keep doing this—I can't live this life of suffering!
It was a hard decision, and no matter what choice it felt like she was doing something wrong. The warring sides in her mind were starting to give Gwen a headache.
My parents treat my siblings well, they're safe and cared for here.
She put one leg through her shorts, then the other.
But what about you, Gwendolyn? Don't you want your own set of parents who will care for you? Come now, staying will hurt nobody but yourself.
She slid her skirt up her legs and over the shorts.
No! My sisters and brothers are happy at home. Why would I ruin their perfect lives? They deserve a good family more than me.
Next was her shirt. She spent a moment fiddling with the buttons.
Please, don't make me stay. You know you shouldn't be here. These peoples are monsters towards you.
Gwen grabbed her brush and started to carefully comb through her messy hair.
But I deserve it. Mother and father say I'm a horrible child, I deserve to be punished like this.
She unfolded her socks from each other and pulled them over her feet.
No you don't! You were five, Gwendolyn. Five when they started this. You deserved nothing but love at that age, not to be screamed at and told you're a mistake!
She slid her feet into her shoes.
So… so I should go, shouldn't I?
Yes. You deserve a better life than this.
Gwendolyn let out a heavy sigh as she finished tying her laces.
"I'm getting out of here."
