Work Text:
The family was sitting around the table having dinner when Freddie looked up. “How did you start going out?”
George and Hermione looked at each other before he sighed. “Well, son, it was a rough time for us when we decided to leave England to find Hermione’s parents.”
Freddie’s head tilted like he was listening. “Oh?”
“Yes, it was shortly after the war ended, and I was drowning in my sorrows because I lost Fred, my twin.”
“Oh…” His eyes widened as he saw his Mum nod in agreement. “It was that bad?”
“Yes, son, it was, but I knew if I could just get him away from here for a bit, it would help him immensely.” Hermione smiled at George.
“It wasn’t like we were even thinking about seeing each other. It just naturally happened.” George grabbed her hand, squeezing it. “She helped me through so much, and I help her on occasion as well, but her nightmares were different.”
“Oh, Merlin.” Freddie sat up straight. “I’m glad that you two had each other to help.” He smiled as he looked at his empty plate. “Can Richie and I go play a game?”
“Yes, you may.” Hermione dipped her head as they rushed out of the kitchen.
George and Hermione sat there, talking softly about their memories.
