Scott didn't want to marry Pearl, his best friend, and she didn't want to marry him either. Crap, she even had a girlfriend. But their parents had already arranged everything and he couldn’t argue with his mother, and as the prince of Rivendell, he really didn't have much of a choice.
The wedding was in less than a week and most of the kingdom would be attending. Pearl and Scott already decided that the marriage wouldn't mean anything between them and that they could still date anyone else they wanted, so Pearl could still be with her girlfriend.
While Scott didn't have a boyfriend, he always wanted one, but nobody seemed quite good enough. Until one day, when he and Pearl were getting to choose their wedding flowers, he saw in the flower shop a really cute guy.
The guy was pretty tall, had ruffled blonde hair and chocolate brown eyes. He also had this adorable look on and was currently working on some other customer's order while humming. And his voice, oh don't even get me started on his voice. His voice was like the one of an angel with this really sweet undertone.
Before Scott could even notice he was zoned out, Pearl was already shaking him out of it.
“Ohhhhhh, does somebody have a crush~” she teased and Scott couldn't help but blush.
“No, I don’t even know that guy, why would I?” He bit back.
“Gee, no need to get so defensive, I was just teasing you, you know? But I actually know him and he might be your type. Cute, sweet, caring, all the good stuff. I might even try to score you a date with him if you'll want?”
At this point Scott's face was red as a tomato and he was frantically nodding. Sure, he didn’t know this guy, but he trusted Pearl and her judgement, and she said he was his type. And he couldn’t deny that the guy looked absolutely gorgeous.
When they eventually got to the end of the line and the guy looked up and into his eyes his world felt like it stopped. He looked even better up close and Scott could see all his pretty freckles and it felt like he could drown in those eyes… But before he could zone out even more, he quickly shook himself out of it and just politely smiled up at him.
The boy smiled back and Scott felt butterflies erupt in his stomach. Then the blonde turned to Pearl, and when he recognized her, he beamed and immediately went to hug her. She hugged back and after a little while they both pushed back.
“So what can I do for you today, Pearl? Are you here for the flowers you ordered?” He asked while already getting the flowers ready.
“Yes, that. But there is actually one more thing.” Pearl said with too much joy for it to be innocent.
“And what would that be?” the boy curiously asked.
“Well, you see this handsome man right next to me?” Pearl gestured towards Scott and he felt himself flush once again. “He actually thinks you're quite pretty and would love to go out with you someday.”
The boy's face was immediately overtook by a really strong blush and he fumbled with his words. “I…I mean yeah, sure, I do have some time tomorrow.”
And so it was settled. Scott had an actual date tomorrow. He couldn’t believe it! So when they got out of the shop Scott immediately hugged Pearl and couldn't stop thanking her.
And the whole night he dreamed of that handsome face and how he couldn’t wait to actually and properly meet him.
