Vexation: Campaign

Summary:

Harry is forced to play a VRRPG with a random group.

Chapter Text

Harry frowned at the earpiece that was in his mail. He knew what it was. It was the new VR device. It went behind your ear and allowed you to play the newest and greatest VRRPG Vexation. Dudley loved his. It transferred your consciousness into the game while you slept. It also allowed you to see game screens in the real world that let you do everything in your everyday life. Banking, making calls, texts, going online, and even helping with work. Harry stared at it for a while. He ran fingers through his messy black hair, making it even messier.

He shrugged and decided, why not. He put it behind his right ear. He activated it and was soon seeing a screen in front of him. He was shocked to see that it was linked to the magical world. He quickly got into his Gringotts Banking system and began getting his accounts under his control. He'd heard Ron, Hermione, and Ginny on the train home from school talking about getting extra money from his vault for what had happened this year. They had thought that he was asleep. He moved all of his vaults into the oldest vault that he had access to and got the strongest protection. He found out that he could claim two lordships. The Potter and Black Lordships. He did so. He did the same with the Black vaults, making sure that no one, but him, could access them. Two rings appeared to him, and he put them on his right ring finger. He found out Dumbledore was using his Wizengamot seats. He locked them down and had the goblin send notice to the Wizengamot. He then locked down all of his properties, including Grimmauld Place. He was now the only one who could enter them. He then made sure to make it so that if anyone, but him, tried to withdraw money from his vault would be punished by the law.

With that done, he used the inventory screen to store all of his belongings. He had a prompt to recall everything that belonged to him, no matter where in the world it was. He did, and everything appeared in the screen. Everything except what was in his vaults.

After that, he began creating his character. He only got as far as male with pale, pale skin, the most luminous green eyes, and black hair tied back in a pencil ponytail. He was suddenly in the game. He was dressed in sparkling black short shorts, a sparkling black crop top, black sparkling biker boots, black sparkling wrist-length biker gloves, and on his back were large and black, resembling flames with a pale spiky greyish inner layer and pieces to further give off the resemblance, thin silver veins, and a black ombre near the tip.

He was hovering off the ground in front of four people.

"Harry?" Dudley asked as he walked to him. Dudley looked just like himself and had an axe on his back. "You're a fairy?"

"I didn't choose it." Harry huffed. "I also didn't choose this outfit."

"Potter." Severus Snape walked over. He was carrying a staff.

"Snape." he nodded. "My cousin Dudley."

"Petunia Spawn." Snape nodded at Dudley.

"This is my teacher, Professor Severus Snape." Harry informed, motioning to Snape.

"Potter." Another man walked over with a bow and quiver of arrows on his back.

"SNAPE!" Harry cried and flew to half hide behind Snape. "He's trying to kill me!"

"This is Rabastan Lestrange." Severus motioned to the man.

"I know who he is!" Harry cried. "He just tried to kill me a few months ago!"

"I did." Rabastan agreed.

"HARRY!"

Harry grunted as he was suddenly grabbed in a hug from behind. It was Sirius. There was a giant two-handed sword on Sirius' back.

"SIRIUS!" Harry cheered back, turned around, and hugged him back. "Big D, this is my Godfather, Sirius Black. Don't worry, he's fine."

Dudley nodded weakly.

You are in campaign mode.

"I didn't log in to Campaign mode." Dudley frowned. "I was going to do some shopping today in the main game to prepare for tomorrow night."

"I didn't log in at all." Harry huffed. "And what class is this?"

"It's the new Fairy class." Dudley explained eagerly. "They are supposed to be the most powerful in the game, but it takes a bit to get to high power. You're purely magical. Naturally. I mean, I'm figuring that it's different from your magic, but you should be able to be comfortable using it."

"Our Fairies do not look like this." Rabastan spoke, staring at Harry. "What am I?"

"You're an Archer. Er....Professor Snape is our Healer, probably a Priest class. I'm a Fighter, and Mr. Black is a Soldier class." Dudley answered. "This is a perfectly balanced team! We lucked out!"

You have arrived outside of a vast, verdant forest. It is your mission to get to the village of Wayshire.

"Ugh." Harry sighed. "Well, let's go. Dudley, explain all of this to the adults."

Dudley was off talking all about the game and the mechanics of it.

They were about halfway to the treeline when he stopped. Everyone else stopped.

"Perception check." Harry stated.

Roll for Perception check.

Dice appeared in front of them. They each picked it up and rolled it.

"Nat 1." Dudley said.

The others frowned at him.

"5." Snape added.

"10." Sirius hummed.

"15." Rabastan said in a rumbling yet soft voice.

"Nat 20." Harry smirked.

Luche and Head of the Serpent have passed the Perception check. Everyone else failed.

Harry and Rabastan saw a purpleish aura around the forest.

"What the....?" Rabastan wondered.

"What do you see?" Sirius asked eagerly.

"A purpleish aura around the forest." Harry explained.

Perception-1(5)

1% chance to pass Perception throw

Lady's Favor-1

+1 to all Rolls

Harry wondered about Lady's Favor.

"Huh. I've got 5 points in my Perception level." he mumbled.

"You're going to spam Perception checks aren't you?" Dudley whined.

"Believe it or not, I'm really good at seeing what others miss." Harry smirked. "Now, my character is named Luche. I didn't name me, but Head of the Serpent has to be Lestrange because that's what his name literally means."

"I'm Big D." Dudley shrugged.

"Casablanca." Snape spoke up.

"And I'm Dog Star." Sirius smirked. "If it's not broken, don't fix it."

They continued toward the forest. Harry was hovering after them, not wanting to walk. They entered the forest, and about a foot inside, Harry stopped again, making everyone else stop.

"Perception check." he stated.

Dudley sighed. They all rolled.

"19." Dudley smirked.

"3." Sirius and Snape chorused.

"18." Rabastan answered, looking at Harry.

"18 plus the +1 from Lady's Favor is 19." Harry smirked again.

Big D, Head of the Serpent, and Luche have passed the Perception Check.

The three of them saw a tree glowing nearby. They walked over to it with Sirius and Severus following.

"This tree is glowing." Dudley told the two of them. "There's writing on it. I can't read it."

"I can't read it, but I know Ancient Runes when I see them." Harry said.

"I can read it." Rabastan spoke, moving closer. This put him closer to Harry. Harry's wings were almost touching his back. "It says, 'A gift of nature to the worthy. One who weilds a pure force.' "

"Snape. It means you." Harry said, turning to him.

"You're the fairy." Severus said, walking up closer to the tree.

"Yeah, but you're the healer. Your power is pure." Harry reasoned. "Just touch the tree with your staff."

Severus frowned, but did as told.

Wisdom check for Casablanca.

Severus frowned but rolled.

"Cool, a Nat 20." Dudley cheered when he saw the roll.

Wisdom Check passed.

Casablanca has gained Breath of the Forest.

"A healing spell." Severus hummed.
