Chapter Text
She had been walking for so long, the soles of her feet had become calloused and torn. She was tired, yes but she had to keep going. If they knew she had escaped they would be following her. She couldn’t take that chance, not in her condition. She was still injured. They got her quite good, a blow to the side and a few burns.
Russels of the leaves and the cute little bird sounds usually helped to relax her, but not anymore. It serves nothing but to disorient her. The only sensation she enjoys is the soft breeze coming through the trees.
“Oh come on Sokka, lay off”
What was that? Was she discovered? Had they already gotten to her? This forest should span off uninhabited for hundreds on miles.
She freezes in place. Oh god, what is she supposed to do.
Her pulse gets faster and faster, she can hear screaming in her head.
“Someone’s there!”
Hide, she has to hide. She takes off running in the other direction, and wisps herself into a tree.
“Never-mind, must have been a bird or something” “we should probably go check it out anyway”
She can see them below her, emerging from the forest bushel. A weird looking boy dressed in blue, and A boy in red. Spirits above, the red. She was right, fire nation. Right under her. One wrong move and she *crack* a branch falls off and lands right beside them. Before she could even process it, they were making direct eye contact.
She blanks, took no time to think before she was flying through the trees, the boys following behind her.
Her vision blurry and barely focused on what lay ahead of her. Her mind blank, other than one thought looping around “escape”.
She jumps through the branches like a lemur, using the air itself to steady herself. But the exhaustion has its effect, she doesn’t notice the branch directly in front of her until it slammed into her, mid-torso. She tries to grasp at something —anything—above her.
But it was of no use, she fell through the trees and landed right at their feet. She tried to get up, tried to run again, right before collapsing again. Injured, of course she is. A fall from that hight, who wouldn’t be. “NO” her hands clasp fiercely at the soil beneath her. “GET AWAY FROM ME” her good leg attempting to push her away from them.
They were talking. But she was to scared, to focused on getting away to hear anything coming from them.
The soldiers hand reaches towards her. He’s going to kill her, too tired to defend herself, she’s going to die, she knows it.
But... why hasn’t It happened yet?
“Are you alright?”
What?
Others come through. Two girls and… is that a nomad?.
What in the hog monkey is going on, Water, earth, Fire… Air.
“Hey girl, I asked if you where okay”
“Get-get away from me” is she crying right now? No she can’t be, there’s not time for emotions right now. That’s a soldier, two feet in front of her right now.
The water girl runs towards her, “your hurt” and kneels down beside her and tries to grab onto her leg.
"DON'T TOUCH ME" she tries to push herself back up one more time without success. she was really stuck here, completely at their mercy.
