Work Text:

As you walked through the front door of your apartment, having just gotten off your long and stressful work shift at the local 24 hour McDonald’s, you are immediately greeted by the sound of Bill screaming at his computer angrily while playing video games.

“Fuck! Will you posers learn how to play the god damn game?!” You hear Bill yell into his headset, did he seriously have to scream all day and night? You just sighed and shut the front door behind you before trudging off into your room, your eyelids feeling heavy with exhaustion.

As you changed into some pajamas, you hear a loud smash and the sound of Bill throwing a nerd-rage fueled tantrum from a room away. God, you wished he would just grow up and make your life easier by moving out and getting a job instead of being an unemployed loser.

You rolled your eyes and started walking over to Bill’s room, standing in the doorway and staring at his trashed room. His room was a pigsty to say the least, dirty clothes and trash littered his bedroom floor and it smelt strongly of BO and sweat.

“What the hell is your problem? Do you want us to get another noise complaint?!” You asked, sounding fed up and annoyed.

“Mind your business, you bitter witch!” Bill snapped, his face flushed red with anger and his lips twisted into a scowl. You scoffed at him and slammed his bedroom door shut before you started cleaning up the apartment by picking up trash, sweeping, mopping, and washing the dishes. You honestly didn’t feel like arguing with him about this again, you genuinely couldn’t stand him and his attitude towards you and at least half the time you were very tempted to strangle him.

After you finished cleaning, you went back to your room and promptly fell asleep in your twin-sized bed, snoring softly as you slept through the rest of the night. Bill, on the other hand, barely slept, aggressively tossing and turning in bed while grumbling irritably to himself and scrolling on his cracked phone.

Bill sighed, getting out of bed with a quiet grunt. He walked out of his room, plopping down onto the couch and grabbing the remote before turning on the tv and playing Batman Returns (1992) on DVD with this tired and irritated expression on his face as the opening credits played on the screen. He sat back lazily against the back of the couch as he watched the movie, but his mind was elsewhere, thinking about you, thinking about how pretty you looked when you yelled at him and about how he imagined you cosplaying his favorite female characters before snapping himself out of that thought, he absolutely should not be thinking about his roommate like that..! A bright red flush creeping across his cheeks for an entirely different reason now.

"God, I hate her so much.." Bill murmured to himself, knowing damn well that was a lie considering how fast his heart was racing in his chest.

By dawn, you were already awake and dressed in your work uniform, groggily brushing your hair and putting it into a bun in the bathroom. You really didn't want to go to work today but you knew you had to in order for you to pay the rent and utilities for this month. As you grabbed you purse and keys to leave, you took a deep breath and left for work. You walked to your beat up 2003 Toyota Corolla that was parked by the curb of the apartment complex, praying that it would start. As you got in, you started the car and thankfully it started without too much trouble and you drove off to work.

You walked into work, clocked in, and started your shift by taking inventory. After taking inventory, you checked the register and machines and started taking customer's orders at the front register. You honestly had to refrain from rolling your eyes at the more insufferable customers that ordered at your register, especially this one regular that came in every morning with a shitty mood and ordered a bunch of food and complained when it took longer than they wanted. You already couldn't wait until your shift ended, it was almost unbearably loud in the dining area and it was giving you a headache. The headache only worsened as little kids flooded the playplace and screamed like they were being murdered as they played energetically.
