"So you aren't leaving?" Avery was asked once again by Derek, trying him one more time before the inevitable time where the king enters Avery's mind. He was genuinely concerned for Avery and would go as far as to sacrifice himself just for his wellbeing. Derek had knew that by the time he saw the king, he was already done for. Thus, him being the only vessel that results in the king being taken down.
Avery's palms were sweating, his legs trembling. Despite all that, he decided to go once and for all just to try and save Derek and take down the King in Yellow. After some thought, he forced down the lump in his throat then a reply escaped him. Just being a "No." filled with nervousness mixed with all the willingness just to take down this golden entity for forever.
Derek had paused for a moment, thinking how they were going to defeat the king, then a question was asked by Derek, he had mentally agreed to let Avery assist him in this time of crisis and fear. It's a life or death situation where the well-being of the entire world depends on just some two Minecraft players. He paused and thought of a plan to try and save Avery, but it's not gonna be glad on Avery's part. He had locked eyes with Avery for seemingly the final time before he asked "Avery, what's in your inventory?"
The question had entered Avery's mind, checking his inventory to see some moss blocks, honey blocks, netherrack, and other useless blocks. As he closed his inventory, he had little to no time to react from the act of Derek attempting to push him off the platform. But since he already closed his inventory, he had time to dodge his fist and move out of the way.
Dumbfounded is what you would describe Derek after he failed to push Avery off the platform, he paused for a moment to look at Avery who almost fell for his trick. "I see how it is. Fine, you're staying with me, now what's in your inventory?" his voice being more stern and strict than the tone from when he tried to trick Avery.
Avery was bent over and was breathing heavily, shook by the attempt of trying to kill him and push him into the void. "I may be gullible, but heck, I react quick." the voice escaped from his mouth while desperately breathing for air. "I have those crafting tables you placed down, some netherrack, slime blocks, and honey blocks" he had said while checking his inventory.
Derek had paused when Avery mentioned slime blocks, a thought had struck him like a little light bulb activated above his head. "Avery, give me the slime block and stand back." he had said with a hint of unease in his voice. Upon saying that, the slime block was dropped from Avery's inventory and entered Derek's.
He walked to the center of the platform and began to face the king head-on. Laughter was heard from the giant eye in front of Derek, clearly being mocked by what ever he might do with the slime block. Then out of nowhere, the words feared by the king had escaped from Derek's breath. Avery was at the far back of the platform, not knowing what Derek was saying but praying to God it will end well. "I STAND AND GIVE MY EYES TO YOU. ONE BY ONE. SHADOWED SHORE FAR UNDONE. WAKE ME. AS ONE." Derek had pasted into his keyboard.
The king had paused, a devastated voice had followed afterwards, pleading for Derek to undo the chant because as soon as Derek tries to merge with the king, the golden creature will cease to exist as in must enter a clean mind, Derek's mind however is corrupted from the moment he saw the king. The king pleaded and begged for Derek to undo the spell. The king knew that Derek knew how to undo the spell but just refused to. After the eyes and the king himself were compressed into a solid ball of light, it had entered Derek' mind at lightning speeds but was ultimately sent zooming into the sky as Derek placed the slime block in front of him just before the king had entered his mind.
A few moments had passed, Avery was left stunned as the golden ball of light zoomed away into the unknown. "oh my gosh, derek are you alright?" the man had asked, mentally pleading that the curse was undone the moment the ball of gold flew away. Just then, the two avatars began suffocating in what seemed like... dirt? As soon as the death screen showed up, both parties had clicked the respawn button and had met up in world spawn.
"Avery..." Derek had typed in the chat. "My head doesn't hurt anymore when I look away from the screen, I think the curse is gone." the text on the bottom left screen had showed up. Avery took a massive sigh of relief at his desk, pleased to find out that the king's traces in this world and in Derek have finally shown absence.
Avery had eagerly typed in the chatbox, relieved and overjoyed to see and experience that the better had come. "That's awesome man! I'm so happy he's gone!" the text box in the bottom right part of their respective screens had showed up once again. The two stood in silence for a moment, awkwardly waiting for the other to say something until the chat box revealed itself saying "So I guess this is our goodbye?"
Derek had thought for a moment, then replied with "It doesn't have to be, What's your Discord so i can add you as a friend?" Derek had asked Avery whilst crouching up and down, punching the grass blocks around him. Avery had given his discord username in the chat box while Derek had given his back. The two then closed Minecraft and started talking in the app, bonding over their experience while fireworks roared in the distance. It wasn't their ideal New Year's but it was surely one to remember.
