Work Text:
Zedaph looked across the regal but somewhat flashy casino floor. There were several active tables, but none of which needed anything in particular from him today. Which would be boring if it weren’t for the fact that today Bek, and Eloise both had shifts in the main floor. Clown had passed through to check on something, today which had been a surprise to all of them, due to the fact he was usually too busy to ever be at the casino. On a normal day it would be enough to make Zed mildly curious. Today it was hilarious.
Zed had become very accustomed to Bek and Eloise’s shenanigans after Bek was hired as the new security guard and he quickly realized, though it seemed they were attempting to hide it, that they were absolutely in a relationship. It only took a few check ups on separate completely harmless groups of players for it to be evident. Clown being here meant Bek and Eloise were sure to be extra focused on being professional. Giving Zed the opportunity to make things a tab more interesting.
Zed walked up to Elosie’s table watching for any particular excuse of a misplay he could blame.
“Zed?”
He looked at the table, scanning it as seriously as he could attempt. “I thought I saw something… you're fine.”
He walked away from the table returning to scanning the general area, or at least thats what it was supposed to look like. Bek was watching him, she had to observe the other half of the room at the moment. Zed wandered over to Bek.
“Eloise is doing really well today.”
Bek grinned as he passed before quickly forcing her face back into what Zed liked to call. “Scary and intimidating yamon face.”
To be fair, Eloise also called it that, but Zed was happy he coined it. He continued, scanning the area for any misplays or other such customer issues. Eloise really was doing a good job all things considered. And the other dealers he supposed but today she was his target for mischief. Not to mention her table shift was almost up. Fantastic.
Eloise stood up separating from her table.
“Miss Eloise, I have some news for you, very grievous indeed. I kept noticing Miss. Yamon looking over at you today, and when I went over there and mentioned you she even broke face. Is there something I should be aware of? Mr. Pierce is here so if it truly is dire I’m sure I could go talk with him.
Her face went deep red.
“Oh, Um, she.. I really need to be going on my break now. It’s all perfectly fine Zedaph.”
Zed giggled letting her run to the back room quicker than he normally would allow, or rather quicker than he was supposed to allow.
On to the next target of mischief. Bekyamon.
“I spoke to Miss. Eloise about how you kept looking at her. I offered if you two needed a break that I surely could talk to Mr. Pierce about it, but she ran off to the break room. I wonder if everything is alright.”
Bek stared at him. “Mr. Pierce is here?”
Zed nodded a grin steadily growing on his face. “I could go talk to him about it if–”
Bek’s cheeks went scarlet, as her eyes widened.
“You know what, I should just do it.”
“ZED.” Bek panic whispered at him. “You wouldn't. We're fine, it's not that big of a deal.”
“Oh no? Alright then.” Zed shrugged, continuing with his observation of the room.
Several hours passed and work was ending for the day. Mr. Pierce still hadn’t been spotted again since that afternoon, likely exiting through a back door to go do other important things. Zed pulled off his work uniform accessories, putting them safely into his bag as two women entered the room.
“Zedaph, this is an intervention.” Zed turned to see a sternly entering Bek, followed by a similarly though she was better at acting, stern Eloise.
“What was that all about?” Elosie crossed her arms stepping in front of Bek though to the side slightly.
“What was what?” Zed asked as innocently as he could possibly muster. He doubted it was all that good though.
Bek started this time. “Talking to Eloise about me looking at her! Especially since I definitely wasn’t looking at her that much–
“It wouldn’t have been that big of a problem–”
“But then you came back and told me you were going to tell Mr. Pierce himself! To give us a break! MR. PIERCE.” Bek’s face had fully flushed red for a second time.
Zeds smile was betraying him. “Seems like I really should have gone and told Mr. Pierce.”
“You!” Bek huffed, crossing her arms.
Eloise laughed, or rather coughed… in the most dignified manner, and Zed could imagine her saying.
“Is there an issue in here madams?”
Bek, Zed, and Eloise spun behind them was Mr. Pierce himself, looking at them with an amused look on his face.
“Is this man here bothering you?”
They all stared at him, Bek's mouth dropping to comical lows.
Eloise recovered first, or at least the closest you could call it to recovering. “Sir, Mr. Pierce we didn’t.. We.. Uh see– You weren’t there sir.”
Clown raised his brow.
Bek quickly followed up Eloise’s botched attempt, “Sorry for the trouble sir, we didn’t mean to disturb you sir.” she finished awkwardly saluting with her whole arm.
“Zedaph? Anything to say for yourself.”
Oh dear. He knew his name…That was new.
Zed coughed, trying to stop his hands from shaking like a madman. “Sorry sir, I was teasing them, we were just clocking out.”
Clown nodded slowly. “I see… Well next time maybe you all could pay a little more attention. To your surroundings.”
They all nodded in unison. Watching as Mr. Pierce exited the room.
“What the heck just happened.” Zed asked,
“Did I really just say that to Mr. Peirce.” Eloise whispered.
“I think we summoned him.” Bek giggled.
Zed laughed softly. “Summoned by the power of flirting.”
“WE WERE NOT FLIRTING.” Bek Whisper shouted at Zed.
“We were absolutely flirting.”
“Oh. I supposed we were flirting then.”
Tears slipped down Zed's face as he tried to hold back his laughter, before quickly leading the two women out of the casino and toward their cars. Maybe he shouldn’t have caused problems when Mr. Pierce was here.
