Chapter Text
The morning sun filtered softly through the window curtains, flashes of light uncomfortably penetrating White Lily's eyes.
"Ugh..."
She forced herself to sit up, slowly rubbing the sleepiness from her eyes.
Her gaze slowly swept across the room, seeing no sign of her roommate, Pure Vanilla.
"Where are you now...?"
White Lily put her feet on the ground and began searching for Pure Vanilla in the apartment. It didn't take long, as the aroma of breakfast could be smelled from the kitchen.
White Lily followed the scent and found Pure Vanilla making breakfast.
"Good morning" Pure Vanilla said with his usual smile. "Did you sleep well?"
White Lily yawned. "I think so, it was a bit cold last night."
White Lily went straight to the table in the middle of the kitchen, sitting down and resting her head on the rough wood, her sleepiness quite apparent on her face.
Pure Vanilla approaches her and places a tray of eggs and bacon on the table, along side with coffee. "Here, try to eat a little more today."
"Thank you," White Lily replies, already starting to put food on her own plate.
"I'm surprised you woke up so early today, normally I'm the one who has to wake you up," Pure Vanilla remarks.
"It's just that my shift is in the morning today, I can't be late again."
"Then you'd better start eating, otherwise you'll look like a zombie going to work," Pure Vanilla smiles and sits next to White Lily.
White Lily begins to eat her plate, her mind not very focused on what Pure Vanilla was saying, her messy hair falling over her eyes as she chewed her food.
.
White Lily begins to comb her hair, arranging it in her usual braid, complementing it with her lily hair clip. The result isn't the best, but it's better than going with her hair all messed up.
She gets up and starts packing her things for work; her shift today is the morning, so she shouldn't linger too long, considering the shop gets quite busy on this day of the week.
White Lily works at a flower shop, the pay isn't amazing, but it's enough to help with the rent and groceries. Pure Vanilla always offers to pay for everything they need, but White Lily always refuses and insists on helping, perhaps out of guilt or a sense of indebtedness towards her friend.
As she was about to leave through the door, White Lily said hurriedly, "I'm going now, Van! Want anything from the bakery next to the flower shop?"
"No need, maybe another day," Pure Vanilla replied.
White Lily sighed and quickly set off for work. She grabbed her helmet and got on her motorcycle, if she was lucky, the traffic wouldn't be too heavy today.
.
It end up happening, she got stuck in traffic for a while.
Arriving exhausted at the store, White Lily is immediately greeted by Silverbell, her coworker.
"You did it!" he says, relieved.
White Lily puts her bag aside and positions herself behind the cash register. "Thank you for waiting for me."
Silverbell smiles as he adjusts some misplaced flowers. "I was starting to think you weren't coming."
"Sorry I'm late, I got stuck in traffic."
"No problem, it's just that I didn't want to be alone here in the store and have to deal with the customers by myself," the boy says as he heads towards the back of the store.
White Lily just gives a low laugh and diverts her attention from Silverbell, surveying the store while she still has time to relax.
Suddenly, the bell on the store's entrance door rings, someone passing by quickly.
White Lily immediately straightens her posture, putting on her best friendly smile. "Good morning, welcome to our store, what would you like?" She says, looking at the person in front of her:
The customer was a beautiful woman with long, curly pink hair, she appeared to be only a few years older than White Lily. Her eyes sparkled, and while her long eyelashes covered her rosy eyes, a gentle smile quickly appeared on her face.
"Hello, I would like a bouquet of roses, the largest you have, please," she said, her voice so calm it could lull anyone into a deep sleep, never wanting to wake up.
White Lily was truly taken back by the young woman in front of her. She had never been one to admire the beauty of strangers before, but this woman, this woman was definitely different from everyone she had ever seen in her life.
White Lily stood still for a second, processing the information in her head, until a confused look from the mysterious woman brought her back to reality.
"O-oh, but of course! What kinds of roses would you like? We have red, pink, yellow..." She mentions other colors, embarrassed.
The woman thinks for a moment, and then replies. "I would like a bouquet of red and pink roses, if possible, of course."
White Lily simply nods and begins preparing her order, trying to ignore whatever had happened a minute ago in her mind.
.
With the bouquet already prepared, White Lily handed it to her. "Here you go, are you happy with it?"
The woman gave a sweet smile and nodded. "Yes, this bouquet is perfect for my dear."
'dear' huh...? Of course she would be buying this for a special someone, probably a partner, what was White Lily expecting? White Lily didn't even know why this had made her feel so disappointed out of nowhere, weird.
"I understand," she replied. "Your 'dear' must be very lucky to have someone like you." White Lily said, immediately regretted saying that phrase. What was she thinking? Did that sound too abrupt?
The other woman just gave a light laugh. "I'm the lucky one to have her."
"I could imagine, by the way, what would your name be?" White Lily asked without much purpose, it was just a way to prolong the conversation, of course.
"My name is Eternal Sugar, and what would your name be, darling?" She extends her hand for a handshake.
White Lily nervously accepts, as she's never been a big fan of abrupt physical touch, but smiles gently at Eternal Sugar. "My name is White Lily, it's a pleasure."
Eternal Sugar returns the smile, releasing White Lily's hand after the handshake. "What a lovely name! The pleasure is all mine. I think we'll see each other more often, since this probably won't be my last visit to this shop."
"Well, feel free to come whenever you want."
"I certainly will, see you later!" Eternal Sugar starts to turn to leave the shop, but before she opens the door, White Lily's voice makes her turn her head.
"B-by the way, could I know the name of the person you're giving these flowers to?" White Lily asks nervously. It was a somewhat strange question, yes, but her curiosity was stronger.
Eternal Sugar didn't seem to mind, as her voice showed excitement at having the opportunity to mention the person.
"But of course! My beloved's name is Hollyberry!" a dreamy look spread across her face.
White Lily immediately froze, shocked by the woman's words, but before she could ask anything more, the door closed and Eternal Sugar was gone.
"Oh my..."
That was something she hadn't expected to know.
