I only know how to dance with you

Summary:

Mavuika has a beautiful morning view of Xilonen and thinks about how wonderful life is now that she can have her without fear and with a bright future ahead.

Notes:

I mean, guys, it’s my favorite ship, and I’ll keep writing about them. I make an effort not to mischaracterize them, even though it’s a fanfic, so I really hope you enjoy it. It’s just something short and sweet that was on my mind. And English isn’t my first language.

Work Text:

Xilonen moved around the kitchen, her hips swaying to the rhythm of the music in a totally seductive way, and she was singing too. Samba suited Xilonen perfectly. She was not unaware of the intense gaze from Mavuika's red irises. She deliberately moved while making their breakfast, dancing and singing because the Archon was hypnotized.

Definitely one of the morning views Mavuika loved the most. The war in Natlan was over, and now mornings were calmer, even with all the work and rebuilding. Natlan still needed adjustments; there was much to be done and overseen by Mavuika, and even by Xilonen.

But Xilonen went to the Stadium of the Sacred Flame whenever her workday ended. Straight to Mavuika's house, which was too big not to be shared. She brought Nepecha along, and the three of them had dinner together. Xilonen helped the little girl get ready and go to bed early.

Sometimes, when neither of them was overtaken by excessive tiredness, Mavuika managed to steal a kiss, with luck, two. Even three. And the kisses turned into a subtle and tacit persuasion for Xilonen to succumb to Mavuika's warm and excited touches. Like what happened last night.

These days, they slept little and woke up in a good mood. Xilonen turned on the music and began to sing in her native language. Moments before Nepecha woke up, Mavuika was graced with this sight. Xilonen's dance, the seductive movement of her hips — she had memorized every curve.

Hoje a gente assume que se ama, para que adiar ser feliz? (Today we assume that we love each other, why postpone being happy?) Xilonen sings, her green eyes locking onto Mavuika’s teasingly. And that draws a sweet, loving smile from Mavuika's lips.

"Don't burn our breakfast," warned Mavuika, straightening her posture, trying not to look affected.

Nepecha bursts into the kitchen, and Xilonen is in a good mood. She sees the sleepy child yawning and rubbing her little eyes, and pulls her to where she was. Nepecha, who saw Xilonen as her greatest role model, perked up and smiled excitedly.

Mavuika didn't think it could get any better — until the moment Nepecha tried to keep up with the rhythm and Xilonen’s experienced swaying. Xilonen gracefully taught Nepecha. That warmed Mavuika more than the blessing of the Sacred Flame.

She watched and imagined the perfect scene, the perfect life. The life that Xilonen allowed the not-so-graceful Mavuika to invade, to the point of helping her raise Nepecha. That they would argue and disagree when the child started making her own decisions, and then they would reach an agreement. When they helped Nepecha choose a saurian as a companion, maybe two.

Her house had space.

She knew she was just overthinking, fantasizing about things Xilonen might not be on the same wavelength about, but…

Mavuika — who always sacrificed herself for others and never regretted it, who had already called for death more than once when overcome by loneliness — now has a desire for life. Because life was more beautiful now.

Life pulsed in Mavuika's heart, now that she knew Natlan would see the dawn. That Xilonen's future was not condemned to an endless war.

Mavuika was grateful to be alive to watch Xilonen dance with an adorable child in her kitchen.
