The rain hammered against the windshield as Segasaki Mizuki’s car sliced through the night, tires skimming wet asphalt. His jaw was clenched, eyes sharp and unyielding. The news had come like a knife through his chest—Yoh, his omega, had been taken. Kidnapped by the man his own family forced him to be engaged to: a much older, ruthless figure who had never cared for Yoh, only control.
Mizuki’s heart pounded with fierce desperation. Yoh was everything to him—fragile, delicate, and so achingly feminine in a way that made Mizuki want to protect him with every breath. He wasn’t going to lose him.
The warehouse sat like a black scar in the city’s underbelly. Mizuki stormed inside, every sense on high alert. His eyes caught the pale shape crumpled against the cold concrete floor. Yoh.
“Yoh!” Mizuki dropped to his knees, hands trembling as he lifted Yoh into his arms. Yoh’s skin was cold, his breathing shallow.
“I’m here,” Mizuki whispered fiercely. “I won’t let anything happen to you.”
Yoh’s eyelids flickered but didn’t open. Mizuki’s breath caught in his throat. He pressed a kiss to Yoh’s forehead, then pulled out his phone with a trembling hand.
The ride to the hospital was a blur of rain-slicked streets and pounding adrenaline. Mizuki never let go of Yoh, never let his gaze waver.
At the emergency room, the sterile scent hit Mizuki like a wave. He barely noticed it as the doctor approached, exhaustion etched in every line of his face.
“He will survive,” the doctor said quietly. Then, his voice faltered, “But... I’m sorry. We weren’t able to save the baby.”
Mizuki’s world tilted.
“The baby?” His voice was rough, disbelief and confusion mixing in the air.
Yoh’s eyes fluttered open, wide and searching. “Baby?” His voice was a fragile whisper. “I didn’t know... I didn’t know I was pregnant.”
Shock and grief wove together in Mizuki’s chest. Neither of them had known. The tiny life they’d carried—lost without warning.
Mizuki’s fingers trembled as he brushed a stray lock of Yoh’s hair away. “You didn’t have to carry this alone,” he said softly, voice thick. “I’m here now. And I’ll protect you. Always.”
Tears welled in Yoh’s eyes, his fragile body trembling. “Why... why didn’t I know?”
“Sometimes the body hides things,” Mizuki murmured. “But we have each other now. That’s what matters.”
Yoh’s hand reached up, fingers curling weakly around Mizuki’s wrist. “I’m scared.”
Mizuki tightened his hold, determination burning in his eyes. “I’ll keep you safe. And I swear, I’ll make them pay. The man who did this—he won’t get away.”
Silence settled over them, heavy but filled with unspoken promises. In the quiet hospital room, Mizuki vowed to be more than just a protector. He would be Yoh’s strength, his shield, his family.
And for the baby they never knew, he would carry the weight of their love and loss, turning grief into a fierce, burning fire of vengeance.
