Chapter Text
Just another commoner, that’s what you are.
You don’t play a big role in this world,
the world doesn’t need you for it to survive.
Walking down an alleyway on a rainy day, going home to the family that probably forgot you even exist, you wonder why you don’t run away instead— disappear without a trace. At school, you’re just known as “that one,” nobody really cares about you, no one ever will.
But maybe that’ll change.. You hope.
A notification from your phone, oh. Just your mum asking to get a list of groceries, haha… what were you expecting? Whatever, it’s fine, just a quick run to the supermarket. What did she ask for again? Oh, right.
“Eggs, bread, milk, broccoli, frozen food..” You whisper to yourself, it shouldn't take too long. You go to the supermarket to get the items, filling up your basket to the brim. Once you’ve picked up everything you need, you decide to get some of your favorite chocolates.
Fortunately, there’s one last bar available, God is on your side today. You reach out to grab the chocolate bar, when you feel your hand brush against someone else’s. You turn to your head to see who it could be, and come face-to-face with a boy around your age, maybe a year older? Who knows.
He seems pretty wealthy, decked in designer, but not trying to be too flashy. Who could’ve guessed that rich kids also like cheap chocolates? “Oh, I’m so sorry.. Do you- do you want it?” You ask him. He doesn’t respond, just shakes his head and gestures for you to take it, which is surprising. You thanked him, and left promptly. Dear God, you could feel his eyes on his back, should that make you feel disturbed?
As soon as you get home, you put the groceries down on the dining table, “I’ll sort it out later,” you tell yourself. Of course, nobody’s there to welcome you back home. Your parents are probably at your younger brother’s baseball tournament.. Again.
You sat down on the couch, opening your phone and unwrapping the chocolate bar wrapper. You open instagram, and the first video you see is a rant about rich families and how they’re corrupting our world. Well, you do agree… But in this society? Speaking out about certain topics like this will get you killed. You continue doomscrolling, ‘til you eventually got tired, falling asleep on the couch.
Hours pass, it’s nearing midnight now, this is the best you’ve ever slept so far this week, maybe the piles of school homework is starting to make you go insane. You could’ve slept ‘til the sun rises, if it weren’t for the sound of your door bell ringing that brought you back to the real world. You groan, seriously? Who’s even looking for you at the dead of night?? You sit down and stretch, before walking to the door and unlocking it. When you opened the door, you saw.. No one but a letter on your front porch. Well.. maybe it’s addressed to your parents.
You pick it up, examine it and see that it was in fact, for you. Wow. Today’s just full of surprises, isn’t it? When you go back inside your house, you get a sense of familiarity.. Of someone’s stare piercing your skin, just like the boy at the supermarket. But maybe that’s just your imagination, yea? Paranoia isn’t a good look on you anyway.

The following day, at school, isn’t really anything special. You watch people eat with their friends, talk about the latest movies and trends, just.. Socializing in general. It makes you feel kind of upset, why won’t someone talk to you— really talk to you— for once? It feels kind of sick and twisted, but you wish that boy from the supermarket would’ve talked to you more.. Maybe even gave you his name.
You still had the anonymously sent letter in your bag, unopened. Well, now is a good time to read the letter. It’s group discussion right now anyway, and it would be a miracle for someone to even WANT to discuss the topic with you.
You opened up the envelope and took out the letter, reading it carefully… It was sent by a person named ‘Felipe,’ whoever that could be. The only Felipe you knew was your old maths teacher that despised you. The contents of the letter was.. Interesting, to say the least.
“I couldn’t help but notice how beautiful you were, cariño, and how delicate your voice is. It’s remarkably addicting. It’s a shame no one even takes the time to even notice you, or listen to you speak.”
Best regards,
Felipe E.C.
Whoever this Felipe guy is, he’s kinda bad at addressing letters.. Or was this on purpose? You’ll never know. Like, who even writes a letter with only 3 sentences and no opening or closing message?? And.. Did he sign the letter with blood? Eugh.
From that point on, your life would change… drastically.
