Chapter Text
You Died!
TheMostMayo fell out of the world.
Avery slammed his fists on his keyboard, nearly breaking the screen.
"NO! GOD DAMNIT!" He cursed.
He knew for a fact that without him there, Derek, who was his friend and ultimate savior, would fuse with The King, thus killing them both due to Derek's fragile, unclean mind.
Derek was dead. That was simply a fact of nature for poor Avery. In his perspective, he had failed to save Derek from a fate that didn't belong to the knight. His knight. His savior.
"Derek, I'm so sorry..." Avery muttered, feeling a pressure behind his eyes develop. Derek was dead. Derek was dead and it was all his fault.
If only he hadn't fallen for D3rlord's trick. If only he had been more adamant about staying. If only he was able to save the one who saved him from countless dangers.
I'm so stupid and weak, he thought, not even capable enough to save someone I care about. Fuck, I'm so sorry, D3rlord.
Suddenly, he felt wetness pooling around his eyes, undeniably tears. Unable to control it, he let go of his wits, sobbing hard into his hands. What was once only just anger at himself for failing mixed into a strong feeling if grief.
Just why was he grieving a man he'd never met?...

Soon after writing his final goodbye, Derek lay unconscious at his computer desk. He had succeeded in saving everyone, especially Avery, from The King.
After fusing with The King, his head was in unimaginable pain. The pain caused in his head from infinite knowledge seemed to be doubled upon impact. He truly felt as if he was going to die from the severe head pain, instead of the logical cause of fusing with an eldritch god.
But something strange happened while he was unconscious. Instead of what was left of his mind being killed by the impact of The King's power, his mind seemed to recover itself before it was too late to save it. Miraculously, he wasn't fully braindead, but he was out cold, cold enough for any normal bystander to believe he was seconds away from death, which he was.
But he wasn't dead yet.
And that was the miraculous part.
