Chapter 1: Allies or enimes?

Chapter Text

----------------------------- Grian’s pov -------------------------------

“Griaaan!” Gem groaned, very clearly annoyed, “I get that you and Joel aren't on the bestest of terms but c'mon! They were our only allies!” she scolded. Pearl stood next to her, arms crossed and a rather annoyed look on her usually smart face. Grian sat on the little make-shift bench, he really had a problem with keeping allies, he had hoped it was different this season but nope. “I said I was sorry… I just- dunno they just really didn't like me and vice versa.” Grian muttered as his wings flared in annoyance.

Gem sighed “I know… but next time it's you that finds us some allies that we can actually keep!” she blurted. Pearl and Gem then left, leaving Grian to try and find out who their new allies were gonna be. Admittedly, he was probably the one who wanted actual allies the most. Pearl and gem were always wandering around together, always leaving Grian alone and a lot of the times he found himself getting rather lonely. But now he was assigned the task to find new allies so at least there was something he could spend his time on.

He quickly emptied his inventory from junk and went out. He wandered around for a bit, humming and every once in a while he would pick some flowers. A lot of time had passed and it was slowly turning night, he ended up stopping in a forest to get some food.

He sat down on a fallen log and pulled out his notebook. He then began to write down all the servers' teams: Gluten guys, lost gen and then hesitated but wrote down: Cabin-core.

He looked at the last team and blushed a bit as he had grown rather fond of one of the people from the team; Scar. After a lot of seasons of this mess by Scars side he still couldn't get over the man with the charming smirk.

But then he heard some rustling which was rather loud in the otherwise silent forest. Grian quickly drew his sword, assuming it was a zombie or something, but instead of hearing the usual zombie growling he heard a silent breathing and footsteps… It was another player.

"Wh-who's there?!” he barked and when he got no answer he began walking towards the sound. He stopped in front of the rather large vine-bush looking thing and pulled the leaves aside. He quickly pointed his sword towards the person's chest, who gave out something that sounded like a startled squeak as the blade was raised towards him.

Grains eyes widened and he blushed a bit as he noticed who the man standing in front of him was. “Scar? gosh- You scared me!” Grian breathed and lowered his sword quickly. “Hi Grian! yeah sorry ‘bout that…” The man chuckled.

“say what are you doing all the way out here?” Scar questioned, he was wearing his usual grin “your quiet far from home.” he added. “oh yeah i was just getting kinda bored and i needed some silence to think… anyway-!" Grian explained but got cut off by a sudden pain in his arm, the pain may have been caused by the literal arrow sitting in his arm. A skeleton had crept up on them and shot Grian which made them both realise it had already turned night.

Scar, surprisingly fast, jumped into action and killed the skeleton who had shot said arrow. “G! Are you okay? I didn't see that skeleton!” Scar asked with alarm. “I-im fine… or as fine as you can get when there's an arrow in your arm…!” Grian said slightly sarcastically even though right now really wasn't the time for sarcasm, “i- the cabin is closer than the lighthouse… you need to get inside and out of this forest for the night.” Scar said, leaving no room for argument as he grabbed Grians wrist.

The walk to the cabin was short as scar had said, but it was also silent and luckily for Grian’s sanity, it wasn't awkward.

Scar opened the door to the cabin and walked inside with Grian following close behind, Grian looked around for a spot to place himself. “Have a seat! I’ll get the bandages.” Scar urged “hm? Oh uhm… where?” Grian asked as he had already looked around and there weren't really any chairs "wherever you fit!” Scar said, rummaging through a chest.

Grian decided to sit himself on top of a crafting bench, leaning up against a wall and waited for scar. Scar luckily didn't take long to find the bandages and walked over to Grian, he then gave the bandages to Grian but Grian usually had pearl help him with this kind of stuff so he kinda just sat there and looked at it “could you-” “need some help?" Scar interrupted not even noticing that Grian had begun to talk “yeah… uhm… Pearl usually does the bandaging at home!” Grian replied.

------------------------------  Scar’s POV ------------------------------

Of course he was in this situation… Grian sitting on a crafting bench in the cabin, just those two chatting while Scar was wrapping bandages on Grians arm.. And of course that peace had to be broken by Etho walking in, Etho clearly hadn't noticed Grian yet, “hey scar, Gem says that Grain hasn't come home yet.. i thought you might wanna know since-...” Etho paused and looked between him and Grian “Oh hi Grian! I’ll tell Gem that you're here… she was worried that she might have given you a hard time.” Etho said and proceeded to write something on his communicator and then of course Scott and Bdubs also burst through the door.

Could he have one moment of peace in this cabin? Upon entering Scott gave Scar a look and smirked and mouthed “just kiss already” when he saw the position him and Grian were in, Scar also noticed the position they were in; Grian was sitting on the crafting bench and Scar was standing in between his legs, while Scar was leaning in and finished bandaging his arm. He quickly backed away and blushed ever so slightly.

“Yeah I should probably get going! You know since Gem was looking for me.. thanks for the help Scar. ” Grian rushed and jumped off the crafting bench and Scar could've sworn he saw a subtle pink shade on the man's face but it was probably just the lack of sleep catching up to him.

“Oh- r-right!" “Yeah g-get home safe!” Scar sputtert, his voice tinted with disappointment as he watched Grian leave.A few seconds after the door closed he breathed out a breath he didn't even notice he was holding.

Scott snickered as he saw the amount of blush on scars face, Etho also joined in with a chuckle as Bdubs nudged him. Scar rolled his eyes “oh shush.” he mumbled and lightly elbowed Bdubs away.

Scar looked at the crafting bench where Grian had just sat and there Scott was standing with a notebook in his hands, his brows furrowed as he frowned “Hey Scar… you might wanna keep your distance to Grian…” “What? Why?!" Scar asked “Well uhm… all the teams are here on this page except themselves and their current allies, and our team has a red circle around it” Scars eyes widened and he took the notebook from Scott and well the man was telling the truth there the other three teams were with their team circled.

Was Scott implying that his team was next on the villies little kill list? “I-i.. no!" “Grian he-he wouldn't…” Scar took a moment to think… would Grian really do such a thing.

Scar closed the notebook and took his shoes on “im going to go give this back. Next time try not snooping” Scar hissed and smacked the door behind him rushing outside. The sun was slowly rising which meant Scar would have the whole walk in daylight.

After some hours of walking the lighthouse came into view, Scar manoeuvred around the pressure plates and knocked on the door. A couple of seconds passed and Grian opened the door not really noticing it was him as he was talking to Pearl from the other side of the room.

“Yeah yea-” Grian paused as his eyes fell on Scar “S-scar… wh-hat brings you here?” he asked. “oh uhm.. you-you forgot your notebook!” Scar blurted and passed him his notebook.

Grian grabbed the notebook and as his hands wrapped around the notebook his and Scar's fingers brushed and even at the lightest amount of contact Scar blushed. Stars… get a grip…

After standing in silence for a bit Gem joined Grian in the doorway “oh hi Scar! You can come in, you know, we don't bite!” Gem chuckled and stepped aside “Eh-? Oh no I should probably start heading… home…” Scar looked at the sky and it had turned night. The walk home would not be fun at this time “uhm… do you happen to have a spare bedroom?” Scar asked nervously “well we all share one room but we have a spare bed!” Gem answered happily as Scar entered the light house.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fuck. Scar regretted agreeing to this. What gem didn't mention was the fact that Gem and Pearl were sleeping on one side of the room and of course Scar had to sleep almost RIGHT next to Grian… Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Scar made sure to turn away from Grian the whole night just to make sure Grian didn't see his flushed face.

In the middle of the night Scar woke up to some rummaging behind him and as he turned around he saw Grian sitting up trying to reach his wings to preen them but his short arms simply couldn't reach his large wings.

As Grian turned around to face the now awake man and saw Scar staring at him (Scar quickly averting his eyes) “Oh shit did i wake you up?” Grian asked worriedly “No no not at all… do you like- need some help preening?” And to Scar's surprise Grian started blushing like crazy.

------------------------------ Grian’s pov -------------------------------

God he hoped it was dark enough for scar not to see the blush on his face. Did he seriously just ask to help preen his wings… does he even know what preening another person's wings means?

“Uh… i-i dunno… do you like know what it means to preen another person's wings…?” Grian asked and tried to simmer down his blushing. “No? Does it mean anything…?” Scar asked and wore a worried expression “No no! just- forget it. Sure i-it would be nice to get my wings preened! And it's not like you haven't done it befo-…” Grian rushed which earned him a confused look from Scar. Right watcher memory…

Grian didn't really want to explain what the preening bit meant… would he live with the consequences later? Yes. Was Scar probably going to find out what it meant? Also yes. But he didn't really have the energy to care.

Grian turned around, turning his back to Scar. He trusted Scar with preening as he had done it in 3rd life so he knew he had the ability to.

And there they sat in the darkness with scar quietly humming a melody made up in his head while preening Grian wings, and honestly it was relaxing…

Grian didn't remember when he started to drift off, he wasn't asleep but wasn't all awake either. At some point his body was too tired to sit up straight, his back now leaning up against something rather solid and Scars humming stopped “Gri? Oh… he’s asleep!” Scar hummed.

He felt large arms wrap around his waist and a weight on top of his head. His face flushed as he realized what was going on but instead of reacting he went into a deep slumber against his will.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the morning when Grian woke up he felt a weight on his waist and as he looked down he saw a rather large hand, and then the previous night hit him like a train. His face immediately flushed.

He turned his head and saw Scar behind him, he looked so peaceful but then his eyes wandered down a slight bit and he noticed something that he hadn't seen in the darkness yesterday… Scar was shirtless and he was spooning him. Shit

Grians face turned impossibly more red.

He carefully moved Scar’s hand from his waist and sat up as Scar muttered “Steh…” Steh? Grian took a moment to think as the pieces clicked, Scar was saying “Stay” Scar was asking Grian to stay

Grian chose his sanity over his lust and stood up but of course sleepy Scar chimed with "Don't go…” Fack. Grian turned around and laid back down, he was slightly surprised how little it took but even more surprised when Scar immediately wrapped his arms around him pulling him closer.

Grian wanted to scream but decided to just lay still and wait until Scar had awoken.

It didn't take long for Scar to start to stir and as Grian could hear him grumbling he pretended to be asleep to make it less awkward.

Scars arms were pulled away from his waist and by the sounds behind him he could piece together that scar had stood up and was now getting dressed, he only got up when he could hear Scar saying good morning to Gem and Pearl.

Grian sat up on the bed and got his blushing face together and pulled his red sweater over his head and crawled down to join the three others. Gem was the first to spot him and lit up “Hi Grian! How'd ya sleep?”.

“I slept fine!" Grian smiled and glanced at Scar who was for some reason blushing

“Hey Pearl could you-” “I'm still not preening your wings!”Pearl cut Grian off “No? Scar preened my wings last night-" Grian paused. The words had just slipped and Gem, who was drinking some water, had choked on it upon hearing the words that had just slipped from Grians mouth.

“Uhm… well it looks like it's light out, I-i should get going!” Scar said and put his shoes on “Bye Grian! Oh and bye pearl and gem.” Scar waved goodbye and exited.

Pearl and gem now turned to Grian “Grian are you guys…” Grian cut Pearl off “No. He-he doesn't know what it means…”

God he hated the look they gave him “Oh… are you-” “im fine.” Grian also took his shoes on “I’ll be back late, I need some air.”
