The story of zawiyo

Summary:

Kim Dokja, a normal salary worker, after a meeting with his best friend (Han Sooyoung).

He mysteriously woke up in a different world.

A world he was just reading about.

A fantasy world with mesmerising sights to behold.
The only problem in this land has got to be the dragons….

And not only did this existence have to be ruined by sky tyrants,
He transmigrated into an extras’ body!

Destined to die like cannon fodder.

Not like he was going to let this happen.

He had to find the protagonist and hug his thighs.
Become indispensable in order to survive.

Will Kim Dokja survive this perilous journey with the protagonist and his crew?
Or will he die a useless death?

Notes:

Hii, this is my first work that i tried to post a while ago but it was kinda trash so i edited it a bit and changed some of the storyline.
This is inspired by the fantasy AU of joongdok by @ovobbbie so when it gets to their meeting arc please go and see their art ^^
I will try to post when possible but do have health problems so cant promise anything.

Enjoy!

Chapter Text

‘HOW DARE YOU’ Han sooyoung leaped upwards snatching her laptop away

Kim Dokja covered his ears leaning away from her
‘It's just a bit cliched don't you think? Like there's no heroic sacrifices!
Can someone die in the end?’

‘No. So what's it cliched? Most readers love cliches.’ She strolled across the room putting the laptop, still eyeing Kim Dokja.

He rolled his eyes ‘Well I’m not among them’

Han Sooyoung chuckled sitting down next to the man ‘You never know what could happen in the future….So hows work’

‘Changing the subject, well don't whine to me about the reviews going down.’ he said leaning against the plush.
‘Works the same as usual: boring.’

You know that's not what I was asking about.’ She glared at him with anticipation.

Kim Dokja groaned
‘I’m not going to be your love informant’

Another thing about Han Sooyoung is that she fell in love with Kim Dokja's work colleague Yoo Sangha when tagging along to his team's dinner (not like she works there).
And now is helplessly nosy about Sangha and her life.

Han Sooyoung shifts in her seat. ‘I'll make some coffee.’ she spat

She stands and marches into the kitchen, obviously pissed.

Kim Dokja sighs with exhaustion

His eyes drooped, threatening to close.

Maybe just closing my eyes for a bit wont hurt.

He thinks as he’s laying his head against the arm of the sofa.

Little did he know that this would be a terrible mistake. Forever changing his life..

Gradually opening his eyes in a drunk haze, Kim Dokja glances around the spacious room ,where the warm glow of the morning sun wavered in the stark curtains.
Tattered books of old lay on the oak wood flooring. Pages a yellow hue and curling with age and use. Scribbles of diagrams and unknown words of which he had never seen before.

Herbs and spices floated around the room making his nose sting but also making him feel calm. However his mind was still spinning.
He lay in a sturdy bed with vines carved into its frame and he was covered in a weighty plain duvet.

Finally the room was finished with a desk looking out of the window. It had an iron ink gall, parchment paper and a goose feather.

After scouting out his surroundings, Kim Dokja shakily rose from the soft bed and was about to wander across the unfamiliar room when a specific book caught his eye.

A book which was worn and looked as if it was about to fall apart but was carelessly lying on the floor.

However, that was not what caught the reader's eye.

It was a title that was ever so familiar.

‘The tale of Zawiyo’.

A blushed orange sun, a fiery torch, was slowly sinking - lulling into a deep sleep, casting long shadows of gold over the tallest of mountains to the smallest blade of grass. The birds grow silent as the midnight parade draws near.
Across the fields and valleys, the golden glow lingers for a moment longer, brushing treetops and rooftops with a final kiss of warmth.
Then, the sun slipped beyond the edge of the world, leaving behind a dimming sky where the first shy stars began to awaken.

But such peace rarely lasts.

Soon the hushed land would be broken by the looming wings of terror.
Colossal reptiles blessed with the strange mutation of flight, able soar above the clouds and see every corner of the continent. Hoarding of endless treasures within spacious abodes, only mortals could dream of claiming.

One would think that such sacrosanct beings would protect the powerless, or at least pity those foolish enough to think the world of themselves.

Well, you are sorely mistaken my friend.
For all those blessings, they are equally cursed.

Bound to the moon and victims of the sun, they suffer such a cruel fate: a slow, painful descent into madness - until friend and foe become indistinguishable and so they only exist to cast trepidation among all living beings.Their cursed lives devoted solely to wreaking havoc over land and sea.

Creatures of delirium.

Tyrants of the sky.

Harbingers of ruin.

Dragons.

Why am I in this place? Is this a dream?

Zawiyo……. Wasn't that the name of the world where Han Sooyoung's webnovel took place.

Well I’m fucked.
