Chapter Text
"HI, LEO!" I jumped as someone screamed into my ears. I look towards that person. Jake. Great. Just great! Absolutely perfect! (In case you still can't tell, this is me being sarcastic)
This is Jake, my normal friend. (He will claim to be my bestfriend. Don't believe him) Well, technically he's my childhood friend, but we went to different middle school and drifted apart since then. I met him again in this highschool... but I kind of forgot about him. He wasn't too pleased about that, which resulted in him deciding to annoy me every day so I would remember him forever.
Maybe? This is all just my conclusion so maybe I have some of it wrong.
I should also mention that he managed to snag a seat next to me for the purpose of fulfilling his mission to disturb me every
day.
Jake pulled out my seat, gesturing for me to sit. I send him the coldest glare that I can muster up, which probably looked like someone creepily staring at another, but he got the message and sat down without making a fuss.
I sit down, and after a while, I notice that he has been staring at me nonstop for a couple of minutes now. This was concerning, even for him.
"Do you have anything you want to say to me?" I ask him after another minute of no one else coming in. From the looks of it, the teacher is going to be absent too.
When he doesn't reply, I decide to take out one of my homework from a pile I made in my desk drawer. I got... Science! My favorite, yet worst subject yet. And coincidentally, Jake's best subject. He's also great at History.
I turn sideways to find him smiling sarcastically, his eyes drifting from my books to me. "Would you want some help with that, my short-term memory prince?" He offered, his eyes full of humor. The provocation is really not helping soften my heart to accept his help right now.
"Yes" I said, flashing a clearly fake smile at him. Jake frowned and got up like he was fed up with me and leaving. I panicked and grabbed his wrist firmly, not letting go. Since when did he have such a fragile ego?
"Politely" A word with word. Fine.
"Yes, I need your help with my Science homework, Jake." When he doesn't answer, I ask. "Satisfied yet? What else do you want?"
His head turned to me, his mouth slightly twitching, as if he's trying to suppress a smile. "What if I asked for... a kiss? Right here."
He pointed to his mouth. Ah. This was his plan. I see.
"Nevermind, then. I guess I'll just have to do my homework on my own. Without any help from my bestfriend." I made sure to emphasize the last word while loosening my grip on his wrist.
"Wait! Of course I'll help you! I am your bestfriend, after all! Right?" He immediately turned around and sat down on his chair and shifted closer to me. I laughed a bit. Jake was always a bit... It's going to sound a little rude, but for a lack of a better term, 'simple-minded'.
He leaned his head into his hands and just stared at me. I stared back at him, expecting him to do something. He stared back at me with a confused look. "Aren't you going to do your homework? Or are we just going to stare at each other all day? I mean... I wouldn't mind."
"You said you wanted to help me. So come on. Just tell me the answer." Immediately after that, Jake flicked my forehead and rubbed it right after. What the hell? Is he mentally deranged or something?
"I meant that I was going to teach you. If I just tell you the answers without you understanding, there's no way you're going to be able to score in exams." He was blowing now on the place where he flicked me. It feels kind of... nice, I guess? But still, I wanted answers, not a lecture. I pushed his face away from mine.
"Fine, fine. But if I still get low marks, you have to accept any requests I make. Deal?" He looks like he's considering my offer. "Don't worry, I promise I'll try my best. And, if I get high marks, I'll accept whatever request you make."
"Really? Any request?" He smiled in a way that unsettled me.
"Not any. Nothing weird." I clarified. I'm pretty sure his request was to kiss me, and no way in hell am I going to kiss this mess of a guy. "Oh, also, I get three requests. You only get one."
"Deal!" He agreed without hesitation. Did he even hear the last part? Whatever. It's not my fault if he didn't notice.
