Ever since he met her, things had been different. Different in a heartwarming kind of way but also in an unusual kind of way. She had a face he recognised but couldn't quite remember. He focused on her features from where he stood in his garden. She was tall, probably due to her large feathers which grew up from her head, extending her height. The tips of her gloves were black with ash from the burning flame she had used to light a candle with earlier. She had a crimson gem attached to her forehead which showed his reflection every time he was close enough to her. Her ears twitched at the slightest shuffle of his feet. She turned to face him and she smiled, warm and bright.
He blinked and there she was again, smiling still. She closed her eyes and her smile began to fade away. So did she. The image of her fading away flashed in his brain, as if a past life had come to haunt him. He blinked once more and she was gone. Only golden flakes, they slowly, ever so slowly, dissappear into the sky and nothing remained but soot from fire on the ground, and the ghost of her heels in the ash.

"Do you think we're soulmates in every universe?" he asked softly, gazing up at the stars.
She giggled and laid her hand ontop of his, her thumb stroking his lightly.
"I sure do hope so. Nothing can come between us, Silver. Not even death"
"But death is something you can't escape" he frowned, his tone less lively than usual.
She sighed and laid down beside him. He was right. Death is a curse no one wished existed. Something impossible to outrun.
"Well, this is why we make the most of what we have now. We can't spend everyday wondering when it'll be time to leave this life and start a new one. Death is only the beginning, not the end." She said, her voice as beautiful as ever, soft and soothing.
She was always so wise, he thought. He always liked that about her. A shooting star zoomed across the sky. He wished it could be like this forever.

He felt grass on his back and warm hands on his shoulders. He slowly opened his eyes and an angel came into view.
"Oh, thank gaia!" She gasped, concern in her voice. "I thought I might need to get Tails up here to shock you awake!"
He smirked.
"Worried about lil' old me, huh, Blaze?" He waggled his eyebrows and laughed when she shoved him back down into his apple patch.
"You idiot, this is serious!" She sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose with her thumb and fore-finger.
"I thought you had died!"
He continued to laugh until he felt something hot at his feet. He yelped and squirmed so that he was on his front. He pushed himself upward and turned his head to face her again. He was met with a smirk from her this time. He chuckled and then she yelped too. An apple had flew into her shoulder at a great speed all on it's own. What a coincidence. They went back and forth like this for a while, apples and flames flying across the garden. They laughed like school children. He wished, again, that it could be like this forever.
Thet both got overtired eventually, and both collapsed into the soil. They smirked at eachother and giggled. She was beautiful, he thought. Her whiskers tickled his cheek and her nose booped against his gently. The firm coldness of her gem rested against his chin as she moved her head down to rest it in the fluff of his chest. He wrapped his arms around her and sighed contently.
Well, that answers that question. Perhaps they were soulmates in every universe.
