Work Text:
Years and Years go by
And I always wonder why
Humanity has the heart
To split itself apart.
Artemis pulls her bow back
Safe from the derange attack
Looks Luna in her eye
And aims for the sky.
Orion swings around Gaia
Catching the gaze of every nebula
Making history with its distance
Teaching everyone of a peaceful coexistence.
Burning through space
Hitting every ace
Our brave poets
Flying on rockets.
As they see the far side
They can’t help but be mesmerized
At the beauty of our moon
They can’t help but to swoon.
With all its old and new
Many and a few
Craters of prosperity
Like Carroll and Integrity.
With tears of joy
They hope the future does not destroy
Its beauty and its grace
All over its face.
As the poets fly around
They are no longer Moon bound
But on a journey home
Where their stories can roam.
Bringing hope for all humanity
From Earth’s elegant rarity
Of what could hopefully be
Another step towards prosperity.
Peace and kindness they say
As time slips away
Their journey comes to an end
Around the fruitful bend.
As they swing back through space
They make it back towards home base
Swinging by the station
Saying hello to friends from every nation.
The fireball caresses them so tight
With a light oh so bright
Through the fire and the hearth
Safe to Mother Earth.
Bringing Moon Joy and hope
Helping people learn and cope.
On a planet filled with green and blue
Thank you Artemis II.
