Chapter Text
“Hey, what gives! That’s not Miss Sonia!” Kazuichi whined into his cellphone from the corner of the men’s restroom he was leaning against. All manners of germs and crap probably crawling onto his rental tux. From the other side of the phone laughter and snickering could be heard.
“Well, stupid bubblegum head. We technically never said it was Nevermind!” Hiyoko responded in between mischievous giggles.
“Hey, no! No-“
“Yes, yes!” Ibuki cut in over Hiyoko’s shoulder. “We never said it was the pretty princess. Unfortunately she is in another castle, yo!”
“Yeah, we never said it was Nevermind! That’s two against one.” If this was an in person conversation, Hiyoko might have just stuck her tongue out at him.
Kazuichi’s head started to ache as he attempted to think back on their conversation. What exactly did these meddlesome girls say to get him to agree to this?
Thankfully, he didn’t need to think too hard. Hiyoko was about to remind him. “We said it was a hot powerful blonde. Yonaga fits that description.”
“Yeah!! The freaky artist is all three! Hot to trot! Powerful, people bend to her will! Blonde, well, platinum blonde!”
“Well, you guys still tricked me! I can’t believe I’m going out on a date with a freshman.” Kazuichi ran a hand through his neon pink dyed locks.
“I can.” Hiyoko snarkily rebutted. “And if you’re in a public place, you might want to specify college freshman unless you want someone to beat your ass.”
Kazuichi’s face suddenly turned red as his eyes scanned around to see if there was anyone else in the restroom giving him the stink eye. Thankfully not. He let out a sigh of relief. “Either way, this is not a funny joke to pull on a guy. Setting him on a fake date to embarrass him.”
“Do you ever stop assuming things?” Annoyance was obvious in Hiyoko’s voice. “The date’s real.”
“The date’s real?” The young man stupidly repeated back. “What do you mean the date’s real?”
“What do you mean what do I mean? I know it’s shocking to learn that a real life girl could be interested in you, but it’s true. So maybe get off the phone with us and give not Nevermind a try. That way we can all move on…” Hiyoko muttered that last part. “But if you really don’t like her, you could always grow a pair and end the date.”
End the date….
The thought bounced around the mechanic’s mind. Yeah, that’s what he should probably do. He doesn’t want to be the guy that’s known for fooling around with COLLEGE freshmen. He sighed and hung up on the troublesome duo without warning. Kazuichi could practically feel Hiyoko cursing him from across the city as he exited the men’s restroom.
End the date.
That’s what he’s going to do.
He started towards the balcony dining area where he had left her.
He was going to end the date.
He was not going to be the dating the freshman guy.
It was going to be easy, just make an excuse and end the date.
Yeah, that’s just what he was going to-
Shittttt.
Did she somehow get prettier in the last 15 minutes? Yeah no, she totally did. The woman before him somehow morphed into an angel staring out into the ocean with the moonlight bouncing off her in the last 15 minutes.
Not like it could be possible that now he’s over his Not Sonia disappointment he could notice how pretty this girl really was. That would be crazy!
With a nervous smile on his face, he slid back into his seat. “I’m sorry about that. I hope I wasn’t gone too long.”
When Angie turned her head towards him and smiled, he could have easily believed her to be a moon goddess.
“Nyahaha~! No worries, Kazuichi!” Her laughter however brought him back down to earth.
“R-Right. We really haven’t interacted much, you’re a foreigner, right?” Just like Miss Sonia…. “Just caught me off guard bursting right out with the first names.” He nervously fidgeted with the collar of his rent a tux.
Angie nodded. “That’s true. Angie comes from an island that isn’t part of Japan.” She explained. “But she doesn’t mind being overly friendly with people, especially you!”
Kazuichi looked like he was about to fly out of his chair. “Huh, especially me?”
“Especially you!” The artist repeated before clasping her hands together in front of her chest. “God-sama told me he wants us to be together.” Angie stated definitively.
At that Kazuichi looked horrified and did actually stand up out of his chair. “God?!?” He exclaimed way too loudly. People were starting to stare. The neon pink haired young man felt like he was sweating bullets as he sat back down.
“Yes, Angie is an oracle for God! He wants this date to go well.” Angie said, unknowing leading in with the god stuff was probably the worst thing to do on a normal date.
That set the mood for an awkward dinner…
