Chapter Text
“Oh, oh yeaaahh… you can’t do a double suicide, a double-”
Dazai pauses his hushed (and very un-rhythmic) singing when he notices my bright pink hair.
“Oh?” Dazai moves his hands from behind his head to his pockets.
“Heyyyy~”
Dazai leans down to me.
*Weird fashion choice.*
I hear him think as he looks at the hairpins I'm wearing.
“Ugh…” I groan, looking at the floor.
I almost gasp, quickly covering my eyes.
Did I… faint? I think to myself.
And where are my glasses!?
I was trying to taste every type of coffee jelly from Japan, Yokohama being my last.
It seems I used too much of my power and exhausted myself.
“DAZAI, YOU BETTER GET BACK TO WORK OR I'LL-”
Kunikida quits his screaming, his running slowing to a walk.
He sighs, his whole body sagging.
“Really, Dazai? Another one?”
Dazai raises both of his hands, his eyes wide with innocence.
“Hey, Kunikida-kun! Stop looking at me like thaaat… It's not my fault.
I just saw him on the floor.”
He smiles.
“I wanted to be a kind stranger.”
I tighten my lips.
I don’t trust someone whose thoughts are “double suicides” every second.
I look around myself. Near me is some sort of dock.
Well, too late now. I guess I'll just see what happens here.
Dazai stretches his arms out, still looking at Kunikida.
“Ah, I'm getting deja vu! This was where I met Atsushi.”
*When I tried to kill myself… and was saved.*
“Ah…” Dazai looks at my hands, which are busy rubbing my eyes.
“You wear glasses.”
“Yeah, good luck finding those.”
“Dazai, we don't have time for-”
“What's with your fashion anyway?” Dazai continues.
My eyes widen ever so slightly.
No one ever questions my “fashion.” Did my mind control grow weaker somehow…? Or is this guy just some critic of fashion?
I mean… just look at his ridiculous trenchcoat.
What a show-off.
I cross my eyes.
Precognition.
…
I see the vision: my glasses had fallen off when I teleported, somehow springing into the water right next to me at the dock.
Great…
I point subtly with my shoulders, still not looking up.
“They fell in the water.”
“I can get it!” Dazai says immediately.
Kunikida pinches the bridge of his nose.
“Dazai, no… don't-”
He doesn't finish his sentence. Instead, he sighs loudly, his arms flopping down.
*Dammit, Dazai…*
I look down at the dock.
If Dazai wasn't acting so “cool” and “nice” right now, he'd be jumping.
No, seriously.
Both types of jumping.
I can already hear his thoughts, and the real reason why he wants to get my glasses.
Something along the lines of:
“If I go down into the water, I can simulate how it feels to be dying! If it's painless enough, maybe I can test the waters! Literally!”
Followed by a crazy: “Hahahaha!!!”
Good grief.
I can already sympathize with Kunikida.
I don't blink, and with a short movement of my finger, my glasses appear right in my school uniform's pocket.
“Whoops, seems I found them,” I say dryly, putting them back on slowly before finally looking up at the men talking to me.
“I guess I should get going now.”
Dazai points at me as I turn back. “Wait a second!”
“That uniform…”
Oh, yeah… he must be a detective.
I mean…
I don’t need psychic powers to notice his insanely long trenchcoat.
I’m not dealing with this. I'm already walking away.
Dazai giggles before he taps my shoulder.
“Boop!” he says.
Dazai's grin quickly fades. "Oh..."
"Seems he DOESN'T have an Ability. What a bummer."
Nullification, I see...
It seems in this world my DNA is the same, meaning my psychic powers aren't actually an Ability.
Heh, convenient.
"Dazai, quit it and let him go. He's clearly just a normal troubled boy!" Kunikida vigorously taps his notebook, restless.
Dazai smirks. "But he's so interestingggg..."
Kunikida sighs. "How so?"
"I've just never seen him before, which is crazy considering that hair!"
"Dazai... plenty of people here have dyed hair."
I look at the two before...
Teleportation!
I'm out!!
-"Plus, Dazai, you'd drive the kid mad anyway if you were to-"
Kunikida looks to where I was.
"Where'd he go...?"
