Chapter Text
There were 4 kingdoms.
The eastern,
The northern,
The western,
And the south.
Each had rulers that would control over each of the 4 kingdoms.. But we aren't focused on them all.. Not even the rulers at that point.
We're focused on one.
The southern kingdom, and a strawberry prince.
—
It was a bright day at the southern castle, the birds were chirping, and everything was feeling great.. Well, except for one toon.
The prince.
The prince sat at his desk by the window, huffing and puffing as he looked out of it. “Ugh..” The prince scoffed, tapping his finger against his desk. ‘ Of course I had to be the one stuck inside-! ‘ He shook his head, he'd gotten into an argument with his father, causing him to get stuck in his room..
A small quiet knock came from the door, causing the strawberry to turn around.. “Come in..” He mumbled, he was expecting any guests.. Was he?..
The door creaked open, revealing a toon with fine clothes, a mustache ( that was made out of cream ) and a tray of tarts in his hands. “Hello, Prince.” Cosmo smiled, walking up to the strawberry. “Cosmo!” Sprout gained a sudden smile, getting up and hugging the toon.
This was the castle's baker- or Sprout's best friend. “Don't knock off the tarts-!” Cosmo held the tray, hugging Sprout with one arm. “Hehe- sorry..” Sprout chuckled, then let go of the brownie. “Yea you better be, prince. I spent a lot of time on these..” Cosmo smiled.
“Anyways, what's got you so cooped up in your room? You usually love going outside in the summer.” Cosmo raised an eyebrow, looking at Sprout. “Well..” Sprout huffed, turning away. He clearly didn't want to talk about it, and Cosmo could see it.
“It's fine, you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to, my prince..” Sprout shook his head. “No-no I do..” Sprout cleared his throat. “I just..” Sprout ran a hand through his leafy hair. “I got into an argument with my father- it's just.. he's so- annoying sometimes! You know?..” Sprout grumbled, going to sit on his bed.
“I understand.. your father can be a bit of a hassle to deal with myself, prince.” Cosmo nodded, watching as he sat down. “Come over here and sit down, Cosmo..” Sprout patted the spot next to him..
“It's okay, I’m fine stand-” Sprout rolled his eyes, not listening to the rest of the brownies sentence, he got up and picked Cosmo up, bridal style. “PRINCE!!” Cosmo yelped. “Put me down! You know I have treats on my tray!!” Cosmo was softly put down on the bed, next to Sprout.
Sprout sighed. “Finally-..” Sprout looked at Cosmo. “And stop with that ‘ Prince ‘ Stuff. ‘ We've been friends since we were young. You never called me that much back in the day..” Sprout tried to reason with him.. “My prince..” Cosmo started with that first, to just slightly tick Sprout off.
“Unfortunately, when we were younger, I wasn't the castle's baker.. I was just your friend, but now it's different. It's formal to call you this-” Cosmo went on a little rant, and Sprout wasn't having it.. He cut Cosmo off before he could speak anymore.
“You never listen, do you?..” Sprout raised an eyebrow.. “Nope!” Cosmo giggled, elbowing Sprout. “Sorry, Never- my prince.” Cosmo smugly replaced his words.
Sprout just shook his head, sighing. “Unbelievable..” Sprout took a glance around the room, then his eyes went back to the tray with tarts. “Hey.. Who are those for?..” Sprout tilted his head, looking at the sweets.
“For us, I just didn't say it at first, do you want one?..” Cosmo handed over the tray, Sprout took a few, stuffing them into his mouth. “Don't eat them all prince!..” Cosmo snatched away the tray.
Sprout blushed in embarrassment. “I wasn't gonna eat them all!- Shut up Cosmo..!” Sprout shook his head, looking away.. (But he secretly grinned one when Cosmo wasn't looking.. hehe.. )
-
Cosmo and Sprout sat back on the bed, talking about their days in the castle.. “Oh and Connie..?” Cosmo glanced at Sprout, kicking his legs up in the air. “The village ghost?..” Sprout made air quotations. “Yea, I know her..”
“I caught her stealing food in the pantry along with Gigi! I just let them off with a warning because they're.. Teenagers..” Cosmo chuckled, shaking his head. “Ooo.. My dad wouldn't like that..” Sprout turned over on his back, pointing at Cosmo.
“Oh shut up Sprout. You'd do the same, wouldn't you?..” Cosmo looked at the strawberry. “Maaybee..” Sprout paused. “And hey! You used my actual name!..” Sprout grinned.
“Oops- Right.. Let me correct myself, PRINCE.” Cosmo grinned. “Ugh..” Sprout shook his head, annoyed.. He wasn't really annoyed. They were just playing.
Cosmo sighed, scooting closer to Sprout. “Hey.- Sprout.” “Hmm..?” Sprout sat up, listening to Cosmo. “I'm glad we're friends." Cosmo smiled, Sprout smiled back. “Me too buddy!”
The two suddenly heard a soft knock on the door. “Hmm?..” Cosmo turned his head. “Who is it?..”
The door opened, revealing Tisha, A maid toon, also Cosmo's assistant. “Mr.Cosmic?..”
Cosmo raised an eyebrow, getting up and dusting his clothes off. “Yes?..” “You need to get back to the kitchen.. King's orders. He said you'd been hanging out with the Prince too much..”
Cosmo paused, looking back at Sprout, who had a salty look on his face. “Do you have to go?..” “He does.” Tisha nodded. “I do.. I'll be back tomorrow, Prince.” Cosmo sighed, adjusting his collar. “See you..” Cosmo walked out with Tisha, closing the door.
The color in the room suddenly disappeared.. and it was still. Sprout sighed, laying down on his bed. “Stuck in here.. again. Wonderful.” Sprout shook his head, closing his eyes. He'd rather just take a nap then have to wait any longer for his father to say he can go outside again.
It almost felt like he was taking away his only form of entertainment.. Cosmo.
This sucked.
Ugh.
