lay me down, bring me to life

Summary:

Just a little vaguely-kainess-inspired piano ballad I wrote as a companion for 'a blue rose upon our grave'

Notes:

It's just my piano playing and shitty ahh singing lol (late night inspiration struck??)

lowkenuinely dislike it but it goes well with the fic? who knows

Work Text:

Lay me down on a bed of blue roses

Hold my hand as I drown

Bring me to life with cruel devotion

Crying dead on the ground

This never ending tale of fate

Just leaves me here to suffocate

Alone, alone

And if you know I love you so then

Break my heart and break it slow

Oh, oh

And here we stand on this pedestal they put us on

Expecting us to stay there but I run, I run away

And there you stand on this throne that I have put you on

Forgetting that I promised to get on my knees and pray

Oh, oh, oh, lay me down and

Bring me to life

[Instrumental]

Bite me with the fangs of your glory,

Hate that I love the pain.

No one said that it’d be so lonely,

Fighting a war that you already know that you’ve lost-

And here we stand on this pedestal they put us on

Expecting us to stay there but you run, you run away

And there I stand on this high that you have put me on

Forgetting that you told me to go die another day.

Oh, oh, oh, lay me down and

Bring me to life

Have you heard the tale of the boy who fell in love

With the one that Heaven cast out?

He was oh-so-foolish to give away his heart

And now he’s here, broken soul, as he drowns

This never ending tale of fate

Just left him there to suffocate

Alone, alone

And if you knew he loved you so then

Why the hell did you let go

Oh, oh

And here they stand on this pedestal we put them on

Expecting them to stay as we run, we run away

And there we lie in this grave that we have dug ourselves

Blue roses on our battered bodies, you know what they say.

Oh, oh, oh, lay me down and

Bring me to life

Oh, oh, oh, lay me down and

Bring me to life
