Work Text:
I wanna get home, now.
That is all Damon could think of, walking down the dark, empty streets of London. It's cold and windy and honestly, not much different from daytime. He just finished recording the orchestral part of their soundtrack to a film. It takes a lot of energy out of him.
How could professional musicians not know how to play with the music? All those years of studying, they couldn't even understand the soul, the feeling of music? Ridiculous that we're paying them for their supposed skills, Damon thought of it over and over again in his head.
He reached his apartment by the time the cigarette in his hand finished. He had drained his energy and was ready to sink into his fluffy bed. He hurriedly unlocks the door and rushes to slam it behind him.
Wait, what's that smell? There's a weird burning smell filling the house. He was pretty sure he had turned off the stove before leaving the apartment. Even if he hadn't, the house would have surely been gone by now.
Then he saw a figure hiding behind a wall, not even trying to hide. The long hair peaks out from the edge of the wall like a child waiting for their father to come back and scold them for damaging the furniture. Damon stood still and called him out.
"Babe, what are you doing there? When did you get here?"
The man behind the wall didn't respond to him, instead, he let his body out slightly from the shadows. Hands still clinging to the wall.
"Are you alright? Can I come to you?" Damon asked again.
The man is still frozen but now looks down at his feet. Damon had known him for years now. He knows that if the other man doesn't respond to his request it would mean 'yes, you can'. He was either shy to agree or had done something wrong. In this case, it's most likely the latter.
Damon approached him, grabbed onto his shoulders gently, and asked, "Hey, come on look at me. Can you tell me when you get here?"
"Hmmm... I got here a few hours ago. I wanted to surprise you," the long-haired man answered, still not raising his gaze.
"That's so sweet Liam. Thank you but would you mind telling me why you stood here hiding from me?"
"I'm just trying to surprise you, you see. I know you're busy with the whole soundtrack thing for weeks now, so I thought I would show up and maybe do something for you," Liam is now comfortable enough to meet Damon's gaze and confessed.
"And what exactly did you do for me?"
Liam dropped his head again and started to fiddle with his fingers. After a moment, he pointed towards a plate on the kitchen counter, "I cooked for you."
Damon turned and to his surprise, saw a plate of burnt sausages. He starts walking to get a closer look at them. Apparently, 2 of them are cooked perfectly but the rest are pretty much blackened. He then looks up and sees a patch of black soot plaster on the kitchen hood.
"The fire must have been really big," Damon comments.
"I'm sorry. I've never cooked before. I mean, it's just sausages, how hard could it be?" Liam is trying really hard not to choke on his words.
Damon turned back to look at Liam and he looked like a child trying to hold back tears with that frown on his face.
"Baby, look, I can still eat these 2 perfect ones."
Liam raised his head hesitantly. Damon instantly eats the sausages, trying to show that Liam's efforts are not going to waste. He ate way too quickly and started coughing. Liam frantically ran towards Damon, patting his back, trying to prevent him from choking. When the coughing slows down, Liam gets a glass of cold water for Damon to drink.
"It's not all that bad babe. They are actually good."
"But you almost choked. It was terrible. I almost killed you. And now, we don't have anything to eat for dinner," Liam frowned.
Damon smiled softly, then reached his hands towards Liam's cheeks, caressing them slowly. He understands that Liam is just trying to show his love to him. He's not good with words nor is he that romantic, so he will try showing it in different ways. The closest he had ever been to showing his sweet side was once a few years prior. Liam had given him a matching claddagh ring for their anniversary. The silver band is decorated with a small ruby and it has sweet words engraved, A Chroí, Mo Ghrá Thú. It is now one of the most precious jewellery he has along with the necklace made by his mother.
"It's okay, Liam. You are sweet enough to try to make these for me. You can always try it again until you get used to it!"
Liam launched towards Damon and hugged him tightly. It's a way for him to apologise without using words. Physical touch is definitely his love language. He believes that touching is the best way to convey unspeakable feelings.
Damon then hugged back and patted his head to soothe him. After a while, he broke the embrace and took Liam's hand, guiding him to the sofa. Damon crashed into the sofa comfortably, and Liam started climbing on top of Damon, quickly burying his head into Damon's warm chest. Damon gives long kisses on his head and for every other kiss, he would nuzzle into Damon's body. Damon finds it very cute when Liam gets really touchy with him.
After a few minutes, Liam seems to calm down. He raised his head and pouted, "We still have no food to eat. I'm pretty hungry right now. You ate all the good sausages."
Damon chuckled, "Let's order some Chinese food then. We'll order your favourite." Liam shook his head in agreement like a puppy excited to get treats from their owner. If Liam had a tail it would be wagging uncontrollably.
"But can we stay like this for a while? Haven't seen you for so long," Liam pleads with his sparkling blue eyes.
"Of course, love. I miss you too," Damon kisses Liam and they continue cuddling. Soon, they both fell asleep, with their hunger fuelled by the mere presence of each other.
