A heart of iron and a heart of undead

Summary:

Simon reconnects with an old friend....uh sorta

Notes:

I don't know what I'm doing but please ENJOY, and I very much don't know how to tag. This is kinda based on the fan game "A heart of iron". Oh yeah and Wynn (my OC) is she/they

Chapter Text

A voice crackled over the intercom on the iron lung, Simon was trying to prepare himself for the descent even now as the hatch was getting sealed, the voice was….familiar to him, it gave him slight hope, soon enough he asked.

“Wynn is that….you?”

A low but soft chuckle could be heard over the intercom, then a response

“You caught me Simon, but at least it's not Ava, right?”

And Simon does indeed nod despite Wynn not being able to see him, Wynn was an old friend of his, more specifically when they were kids and teenagers before the silent rapture. The only reason why he remembered them is because they'd always put an arm him if they were uncomfortable in school space, or if the hallways got got too crowded for their liking, but Wynn's voice snapped him out of his thought

“How's the oxygen levels Simon?”

So Simon checked them

“Still full as of now, I'm trying not to breathe too, too much, I wouldn't want to run it out too fast.”

But deep down he was afraid it would, he was afraid he'd get trapped down there with no return, but little did he know, Wynn was like a part of the eel, more so against their will, because they were the first to get sent down, the first to get lost, the first to get swallowed, but their suit kept them from being digested, their body redeveloping within the body of the eel, kind of a part of it but not directly, and they still had their communication device and could reach Ava if absolutely needed.

Through the night Wynn had stayed up giving Simon instructions on what to do, how to potentially get free, but when Simon screamed it was raw and terrifying.

“Wynn?! Wynn!?!? Wynn please come BACK!”

Wynn had come through after a moment of struggling to get signal

“Here! Simon I’m here!”

“Pull me back up! Please pull me back up, there’s something down here, I don’t know what it was but-”

“Simon, Simon!”

“WHAT?!”

“Take a deep breath and calm down. Otherwise the captain might take over and she won’t be talkin to ya as nicely as I am as of now”

After a pause Simon speaks up.

“I-I saw a skeleton, Wynn”

“A skeleton….like an actual skeleton? Like made of bone.”

“What the fuck else is a skeleton made out of??”

“Hey mister, I just need to double check. Because if what you’re saying is true- Oh this is good- This is really good- I-I have to report this to the captain, hold on-”

But Simon quickly speaks up

“Wait! Before you do that Wynn uh….I-I found something…else.”

After a long pause and a shaky breath he said

“There’s something down here Wynn, something down here with…me.”

And that’s what made Wynn’s heart drop, from inside the eel they couldn’t feel it moving, not at all, which was odd….it scared her….what if this THING they were kinda trapped in tried to kill Simon, what if he saw them if they got out - that was indeed their biggest fear currently, but they stay calm, or well as calm as they calm as they can be.

“listen…Simon….if it was under my control I’d……I would’ve made sure you were okay……trust me, I would have”

There was a small choked up sound on Simon’s end, for a moment there was silence, terrified, sad silence, but soon Wynn hears his shaky voice again

“I-I want to see you again-”

But that made their heart drop, maybe even flutter a little bit.
