As he opened the door, Sarah gasped and pulled him into her arms. “Oh baby, what’s wrong?”
Nick couldn’t hold back the tears any longer and sobbed uncontrollably into her shoulder. “Shhh,” she soothed, freeing herself to close the door.
“Oh Mum, I feel like the worst person ever!”
Cupping his cheek she asked, “Because of Charlie?”
He nodded. “And because of Jen. She doesn’t deserve marrying someone who’s still in love with his ex.”
“Then don’t,” she said simply. “Whether it works out with Charlie or not, you don’t deserve to get stuck in a marriage you don’t want.”
