Summary:

Verosika has her own image that she lets the world see. She lets you see the real her, and you love every bit of it.

Notes:

Sorry for the late post guys. I'm at LVL UP, and I got a bit distracted. XD
Hope you enjoy the wrap up for this series. 💕

Work Text:

“Hey, what’s this?”

You poked your head out around the corner of your kitchen, peering over at Verosika as she lounged against your couch. You had invited her over for a more in-house date night, and while you got things ready in the kitchen, she had been relaxing in your living room.

In her hand was a worn, dark blue book, one that you recognized almost immediately.

“Ah, that’s one of my journals.”

“I didn’t know you journaled.”

“I don’t do it much anymore, to be fair. I started when I started planning to transition. I figured it would help me through the whole experience if I wrote what I was feeling down.” You explained. “You can read through them if you like. I don’t mind.”

“Are you sure?” She asked, seeming uncertain, though you could see the curiosity in her eyes.

“I’m sure, Ver. You know my life is an open book to you.” You put your hand on your hip. “Now, no more interruptions. Or do you want a nice home cooked meal?” You sassed.

Verosika let out a scoff, quirking a brow.

“Baby, you’re making microwavable dinners.”

“... That I’m preparing in my kitchen, which makes them home cooked.”

Verosika cracked first, giggling as you joined in and continued laughing even as you ducked back into the kitchen to finish what you were doing.

After taking a moment or two to compose herself, she leaned back against the couch and started flipping through the pages of your journal. Based off the first entry she skimmed, this must have been something you started after transitioning. It was admittedly very interesting reading your thoughts, and she actually only skimmed a few entries here and there. She knew you trusted her and had given her permission to read this, but it still felt like a kind of invasion of privacy to be reading this, so she tried to give you her own version of privacy.

That completely stopped when she spotted an entry with her name in it.

“Things are going so well with Verosika.

I still don’t know how I ended up with someone like her.

She’s got the most amazing voice, it’s like a siren’s call, whether she’s on stage singing or murmuring praises in my ears, or even as simple as asking me how my day was. Her body is beyond alluring, it could make any man or woman cave in an instant, and she knows exactly how to use it.

And she has one of the most beautiful souls of anyone I’ve ever met. She’s so strong, confident, and yet so sweet and considerate. I can talk to her about anything, and I know that I’m safe and loved and supported. I hope she feels like that with me too…

Satan, how could someone like her be in love with me?

It doesn’t matter. All I know is that I’m going to cherish her for as long as she’ll let me, and I’ll love her as long as my heart still knows how to beat.”

Oh Baby, she did. She loved you so much… Verosika felt like her heart had exploded with how utterly in love and gushy you were in your writing, and she found herself falling in love with how adorable you were when you wrote about her. It was seriously so precious.

And to make it even more cute, the next page had an attempt at writing some kind of poem about her and how much you loved her. She had her share of fan mail sent, and a lot of them had attempts at poetry on them, but yours was just beyond endearing.

“Alright, dinner is served. Please save all complaints for the trashcan, but feel free to offer any compliments directly to the chef.” You popped out of the kitchen and set both dinners on the coffee table in front of her.

You glanced up at her, and caught the look on her face. It was warm, but the set of her smirk had you just a little bit on edge.

“What’s with that face?”

“Nothing, just… I didn’t realize I was dating a poet.” She murmured alluringly.

You blinked, then your eyes widened as you realized what she was hinting at and immediately lunged for the book. She just as quickly yanked the book out of your reach, and wrestled with you as you made a surprisingly half-hearted attempt at grabbing your book back.

“Give that back! I didn’t think you’d get to that!”

She laughed, and since she was just a smidge bigger she managed to wrestle you into her lap, squeezing you tightly to her chest as she set the book aside on the table.

“Oh come on, it’s cute! And so sweet!” She cooed, grinning at your scrunched up, flushed face.

“Oh it’s awful, I’m not a poet, I just… Felt like I was in a romantic mood.” You turned even more red.

“Well I love it.” She purred, and proceeded to completely smother you with smooches.

Afterwards, after you both had dinner and both of you were comfortable in your bed, Verosika woke up from a light doze to see you writing in your journal again. With just a subtle arch of her head, she could see what you were writing.

“I love her more than anything in the world. I could never tell her how much because there aren’t any words for it. Hopefully she knows.”

She did.

“Hey Baby, I have something I want to ask you.”

You glanced up from where you had been scrolling though your phone.

“What is it?” You asked, tilting your head.

She cleared her throat. “Well, I wanted to know if you wanted to go to my concert next week.” She offered a soft look. “I know it’s not typically your scene, and if you don’t want to you don’t need to feel pressured to go, but I just wanted to ask.”

You paused. Truly, things like this really weren’t your scene. The crowds, the noise, the wildness of all of it, it just really wound you up in the worst ways and you tended to avoid them when possible. Clubs were fine, they had places you could hide and calm down or were easier to leave given they were smaller, but concert venues were huge.

But you could see in her eyes that she really wanted you to come. Your mental health had been a lot better lately, and you knew you could always trust her… This would be your first concert. Only fitting you had another first with her.

“Okay.” You nodded. “I’ll come.”

“For real?” She perked up, and when you nodded again her smile grew huge. “Alright! Baby I’m going to blow your mind with how amazing this is going to be.”

The noise and the crowds were definitely something you had to get used to. You slightly covered your ears as you tiptoed around the fringes of the massive crowded venue, heading towards the roped off area marked “VIP”.

Verosika was chatting with Vortex about something, but as soon as you ducked under the rope, her eyes snapped to you and she flashed you a bright smile.

“There you are!” She greeted you with a hug, and you smiled as you instinctively nuzzled into it. “I’m relieved you didn’t get lost. I forgot you aren’t used to this.” She flashed you an apologetic look.

You just shrugged good-naturedly. “It’s alright.” You smiled. “First time for everything, right?” You gestured to the VIP pass you had dangling from your neck. “VIP though?”

“Hey, first concert experience deserves the best seats.” She squeezed your cheeks playfully. “And my girl deserves the best, doesn’t she?”

“You spoil me.” You snickered, then sighed gently as she released you. “You’re gonna have to head back now, right?”

“Mhm. Don’t worry, Tex is staying here so you have some company just in case shit happens.” She fluttered her lashes playfully. “Wish me luck?”

“Always. Good luck. You’ll knock ‘em dead like always.”

She rewarded you with a peck on the lips, and gave your hip a playful smack with the tip of her tail as she passed you by.

You watched her until she completely disappeared from view, into the crowd of excited trembling bodies, and you wouldn’t lie, you felt a bit of nerves creep back into you when she was gone.

Vortex patted your shoulder.

“C’mon. Let’s get you up front and center.” He lightly nudged you, and you followed unthinkingly as he guided you towards the front of the VIP area, right up to the railing where he leaned against it. “And relax. Try to have a good time.”

“I’d have more of a good time if I was with her instead of just watching.” You admitted.

“I get that.” He chuckled. “But don’t let that get you down.”

You didn’t have time to let it get you down. The lights flashed, and the crowd’s energy heightened as Verosika appeared on stage, flashing everyone a bright grin as she strutted forward.

“Are we ready for a good time everybody?!” She shouted into the mic.

The crowd erupted into loud cheers, and you actually flinched slightly with how loud it got. Verosika just seemed to bask in the attention, and smiled at the noise before she gestured for everyone to settle down just a little bit.

“This first one of the night is a really special one. It’s dedicated to my beautiful girlfriend.” She gestured to you before she turned to you, her smile softening just a smidge as she addressed your slightly shellshocked figure.

“Baby, you’re my heart and soul. I love you.”

You felt your face heat up as she flashed you a sign she made with her hands, both of them curled into the shape of a heart right over where her heart was.

There’s no way she was doing this… Dedicating a song to you…?

You felt like you were going to swoon as the guitar and drums started up, and her honey-sweet voice started singing the sexually charged, yet still love-drenched lyrics. And even though she was dancing and singing for a crowd of people, her eyes stayed right on you, making sure you knew every word was meant just for you.

It started when both of you were cuddling after a pretty passionate roll-around, and you were planting kisses across random parts of her skin when you landed at Verosika’s tattoo. You paused at it, reading the crossed out name inside of the heart for not the first time.

Verosika had told you before about her last serious relationship, how much she had loved the guy before she had said the “L” word and had caused him to bolt. How heartbroken she had been. It didn’t alarm you in any way or concern you; if there was one thing you felt secure in, it was your relationship with her.

“I’m thinking about getting that damned thing taken off finally.” She admitted, bringing you back to the present.

“The whole thing?” You asked.

She shook her head. “Just the name and the “X” part, actually… I wanted to put your name in the heart.”

You blinked, smiling. “Really?”

“Of course Baby, you know you mean everything to me.” She slid her arm around you and pulled you on top of her, nuzzling her forehead against hers. “I’m curious… Would you ever consider getting one with me?”

“Like a couples tattoo?” You asked, tilting your head in thought as Verosika nodded.

You already knew you were in this for the long run with her. The fact that she wanted your name on her arm in mostly permanent ink only proved to you that she thought so too. You had never gotten a tattoo before, so it was only fitting the first was going to be of her.

You grinned. “Let’s do it.”

Tattoos hurt.

Not as much as some of the other things you had been through in life, but they still hurt. Verosika had picked an artist she had gone to last time, so at least they were familiar with her, and both of you were on the table at the same time. Verosika barely seemed affected by the needle erasing most of her old tattoo, and still barely flinched as your name was added in lovely cursive letters to her arm.

You on the other hand were an obvious tattoo virgin, so you were more than a bit fidgety as they got to work on you. You had picked a matching heart tattoo on the opposite arm, and while you did twitch a bit, they were pretty fast and efficient at the same time. When they were done, it was a damn near perfect match to Verosika’s, with her name in beautifully cursive script across the heart.

“Now that looks fucking perfect.” She pressed a kiss to your cheek. “How are you feeling? Any pain?” She asked.

You shook your head. “There’s a bit of a tingly feeling, but nothing I’d call pain.” You rolled your shoulder, smiling down and admiring the tattoo on your arm. It made you feel warm and tingly as well, right in your heart.

“That’s good. I’m glad it doesn’t hurt.” She smiled, and held up her phone. “You wanna make it Sinstagram official?”

You grinned. “You pick the pose.”

She snagged her phone with her tail and held it up as she pulled you in close, angling your arms so that they were right next to each other, showcasing the matching tattoos to the camera. She leaned in to kiss your nose as the camera shuttered, and both of you laughed as she grabbed her phone.

“Seal of approval?” She asked, showing you the picture after she glanced at it herself.

It was a sweet picture, and you immediately nodded your head after only a moment. It was definitely one you were going to save for your phone album.

“Girlfriend approved.” You hummed, leaning against her arm as she posted it with the caption ‘Babygirl and I got matching tats.’

Within literal seconds, it had already gotten a metric shit-ton of likes and dozens of gushing comments. It was amazing how supportive everyone was…

You were never going to regret the decision you made loving her.
