How to have (Human) fun.

Summary:

It’s a boring day in the Undervale and Esther learns that Abbadon has no clue what an amusement park is.

Well obviously, he’s a demon trapped in a victorian child’s body—he wouldn’t know.

Lets change that.

This is based on when I went to a theme park and went on a roller coaster for the first time ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )

First fic!

Chapter 1: Human Fun

Chapter Text

Fun. A concept that is so concrete, yet so varied. The concept of fun falls differently upon different people. Some may find knitting fun, while others boring. Some prefer the thrill of bungee jumping and some prefer more calming activities such as cooking.

To Abaddon, the concept of fun is something that is very foreign to him. Yes, he does enjoy the thrill of murder, but that’s not exactly conventional nor legal. What he finds fun is not… exactly what fun is supposed to be (according to normal standards of course).

Climbing inside of vents, blending fruit and pretending it’s juices is the blood of your enemies, hoop trudleing, indulging in black magic, murder, none of this can be considered normal. Abaddon doesn’t know how to have fun. At least, not in a humane way.

The cool winter air the blankets the Undervale, the hotel is still. Quiet. Not a chirp from a bird, not a stir from a spirit, not a rustle in the wind. Silence and stillness shrouded the hotel grounds, and with it boredom crept in, filling all of Undervales residents with it.

Boredom hit like a truck, there was nothing to do! No spirits out to haunt, no monsters out to kill anyone, absolutely nothing. Ben was with his ghost girlfriend, as always, Katherine was working, and god knows where Nathan went. Esther was bored out of her mind, and she wasn’t about to let that slide.

“Abaddon, random question but what do you do for fun?”

“Uhm, well.. Hmmm.. I don’t actually know,” he said with a slight shrug. “I mean I torture people. That could be considered as fun.”

“Okay… Well that’s a start. I know that demons may have a different way of fun but like.. What do you do for fun as a human?”

“Oh! Well I am quite the hoop trudler if I do say so myself.”

“Abaddon, I know you’re a demon and all and fun isn’t really on your radar, but what the absolute fuck is hoop trundling??”

“There’s a metal hoop, similar to the ones that Katherine uses for her exercise. The hoop that she swings around her waist.”

“Oh oh! A hula hoop?”

“Yes, something of the sort. And you hit it with a metal rod and try to make it go as far as possible.”

Esther shot Abaddon a look of dismay.

“Abaddon, respectfully, that is the most boring activity I’ve ever heard of.”

“Okay then,” Abaddon replied raising his eyebrows suspiciously. “If you think that’s not fun then what is?”

“Well I don’t know, something like a rollercoaster!”

Huh? A roller coaster? Abaddon was so immensely confused. The last time he checked, the coast does not roll. His head tilted slightly sideways, his eyes filled with confusion.

Upon seeing this, Esther’s face lit up. Her eyes lit up with a slight glint and she developed a sly smirk, which never meant anything good.

“Roller coasters? Drop towers?? Spinning swings??? Are you familiar with with amusement parks?” she asked with enthusiasm.

“An amusement park.. That’s the first time I’ve ever come across this term.”

Esther let out a small devious chuckle.

“I have a plan so cunning that you can stick a tail on it and call it a fox. Abaddon, I know what we are doing today.”
