Work Text:
He dropped everything and ran when he got the text. He only hoped that he knew Robby enough to get to the right place.
“Though shift. Talk to him.”
“How bad?”
“Hurry.”
The words were echoing in his brain as he was banging his fist against Robby’s apartment door. There was no answer. He knew Dana. Something bad had to happen for her to text at all. For her to write that last message… he hoped he wasn’t too late!
Not wasting any more time to knock, he fumbled for his spare key to open the door. Hell, he would have kicked in the door down, had he not had the key.
Robby was in the shower when Jack found him. Jack barged in, heedless of any privacy. Robby was on the shower floor, crying, mumbling.
“Robby…”
The man didn’t even flinch. Jack wasn’t sure he knew someone was there at all. He was naked. The feelings must have caught up with him when he was trying to wash the day off his skin.
Jack opened the shower doors. Cold vapor settled against his skin. He reached in. The water was freezing. He instantly grabbed Robby’s shoulders. He was cold to touch.
“Jesus, how long have you been in here?! You are freezing!”
Robby only sobbed and buried his face in his hands.
Jack turned off the water, grabbed the nearest towel and quickly pat dried him, careful not to rub the skin. He discarded the wet towel and wrapped him up in a dry one.
“Come on, you gotta get up.”
He pulled him up with hardly any help from Robby’s side. The only movement Robby seemed interested in was to hide his face, turning it away as in shame.
“Come on, brother, we gonna get you warm.”
He half carried, half pushed Robby into the bedroom. Discarding the towel, he placed him on the bed pulling all blankets in sight atop him.
That wasn’t enough. Robby’s skin was like ice. Without much thought Jack pulled off his own hoodie and t-shirt in one go and got behind Robby on the bed. He held him tight, draping his arm around the man so achieve as much skin contact as possible.
He pressed himself tight. He wasn’t sure whether it was for warmth or to stop the almost violent sobbing.
Tears were rolling down his own face as he pressed his cheek into Robby’s shoulder.
“You are gonna be OK. I’m here now.”
