Numb. That’s how Lance felt. As if all colour and emotion had been sucked out of him. So much loss, so much pain…
How he found himself on the floor of the CastleShip’s observation deck, he couldn’t even say.
He slid to the floor and hugged his knees tightly, seeking beyond hope any feeling or comfort, his unseeing eyes trained at the stars…
Keith didn’t notice there was someone on the deck already. He was shaking out of his skin, helpless rage buzzing through his veins.
They were too late… Again… He had failed…
In the dead of night all he wanted was to vent out his frustration to the inky-black void of space. Yet only silent tears came out, obscuring the world.
Shiro didn’t want to be alone, not tonight. A deep ache wracked through his entire being. Not the crippling physical pain of his injuries, but a profound pang echoing through every corner of his soul, compounding further with all that he co-existed with every single day. All that he had left behind, all that he missed, everything that he had suffered through.
He stepped into the lounge. Maybe the stars would keep him company through this quiet agony?
The three of them gravitated together.
A force stronger than their daily bickering and taunts silently bringing them closer.
The shared hurt, the echoing emotions, padded with unspoken insecurities that only amplified from one paladin to the next.
It was Shiro that engulfed both Lance and Keith in a strong embrace, as if to keep them safe.
Yet all three clinged to each other fiercely seeking solace in that improvised cuddle pile.
Lance gently wiped Keith’s tears away.
Keith squeezed Lance’s hand, fiercely imbuing feeling back into him.
Each of them building the others up, in a cuddle pile of solace.
