“I want to fight him now.”
Galaxy's hands trembled slightly, holding his sword in his hand. The training arena platform was empty, the sky a dark gray. The crater still in the corner of his field of vision, as if the memory wanted to stay.
Mugm lifted his gaze from the brewing stands.
“Are you sure? Absolutely sure.”
“Y-yes. I need to fight him.”
Mugm stood up walking over to him.
“Where did this stem from? What happened.” The half voidling asked.
“I-I couldn't stop myself… I went back.. to where I..” Galaxy looked over his shoulder, as if being able to see the wrecked shrines. Sharpness’ laugh.
“I need to kill him. He's just harming more people as I stand here and do nothing–”
“You are not doing nothing.” Mugm gripped his shoulder. He swiftly removed it, and sighed.
“You’ve been getting better. Training isn't sitting around and doing nothing.”
Galaxy took in a deep, shaky breath. “I can't sit here anymore. I can't, I have to get rid of him. I can't stop.. thinking about it..”
Galaxy rubbed his head, his stump of a horn feeling the cool breeze pass by. “He did this to me! He killed Finlo.. I need to get him. I need to kill him.”
Mugm backed away, grabbing potions from the stand. “Are you absolutely sure you're ready?” He asked with a slight nervousness entering his tone.
“I am ready.”
“Killing him won't rid you of those memories.”
“I am ready.”
Mugm broke the stands, collecting the potions. “Okay… okay. Fine. I'm coming with you though.” The half voidling threw his elytra on. Galaxy felt secretly grateful.
He wouldn't be there alone.
“Do you think… I could use the sword? That gives me resistance.”
“Do you believe you can't kill him without it?” Mugm raised a brow.
“No, I can. I just… need something to counter his mace.” Galaxy scratched his neck. “Take these instead.” Mugm tossed him some arrows with beige-ish tips. Slow falling arrows.
“Now, are we going or not?”
He put on his own elytra, taking to the skies. Wind filled his ears, his hair flapping in front of his eyes.
He was determined.
___________
Mugm landed on a roof in a small village, Galaxy close behind. It was slippery from fresh rain, but he held his grip, looking down at the people below.
His eyes narrowed.
Sharpness.
He was pointing his sword at the villagers, demanding items or death.
Galaxy knew he would get both either way.
The blond man looked up, catching Mugm’s dark figure and the invisible Galaxy beside him.
“Ohhhhoh. Mugm? Long time no see!” Sharp gleefully cheered. “Oh, and who's this?” He pointed his sword to Galaxy.
Galaxy drank milk to remove his invisibility.
Sharp’s eyes gleamed with intense excitement.
“Your back for more? I figured after the last time, you wouldn't come back.” He raised his voice, enough for Galaxy to hear if he couldn't already.
He could, loud and clear.
“I've had some training this time.” Galaxy exclaimed, jumping down from the roof. His hands caught a lamp post, the momentum twirling him up enough to stand on top of it.
Sharpness chuckled.
“Okay. Let's do this then.”
The villagers squirmed into their houses when Galaxy shot Sharpness with one of the tipped arrows. The man grunted, holding his forearm, ripping out the arrow.
“Seriously? Slow falling?” He growled. “Did you really think I would come into this fight against a mace without a counter?” Galaxy chuckled.
Galaxy jumped down from the lamp post, gripping his blade. He was nervous, but not scared.
Sharp ran forwards, slashing his blade, jabbing his sword.
He was moving fast, a little too fast for Galaxy to keep up with in the beginning. The blond man sliced open his arm, almost hitting his last whole horn. Warmth trickled down Galaxy’s arm as he forced himself to tune out the pain.
He caught up with Sharpness, shooting him again, but this time through his hand. The man seethed, a high pitch grunt of annoyance laced with pain escaping his mouth.
He swiped his sword in front of his face, the tip of the sword grazing his face, distracting Galaxy.
Sharpness gripped a mace, launching himself in the air, coming down at fast speeds, right for Galaxy’s head.
He couldn't hit him with an arrow to slow his attack in time.
The mace ruptured his head, popping his totem. Blood poured down his neck for a brief moment before disappearing, due to the totem of undying’s healing properties.
Galaxy still tumbled, losing his sword. Sharpness smiled down at him, watching the demon hybrid's eyes blink out of focus. He made his way to pick out Galaxy’s sword, but he managed to grip Sharpness’ ankle and yank him down.
Galaxy quickly stumbled up, his head pounding in pain from the mace, until he hit the rough rocks again a few feet away from his blade. He groaned when he hit the ground, hearing a chuckle behind him.
He kicked his foot out, hitting something and hearing a yelp. He picked himself up again, able to grab his sword, his breathing heavy.
Sharpness was touching his nose, a red footmark appearing on the skin. Galaxy smirked.
He slashed his sword, blood beginning to drop from Sharp’s leg.
That did not make him happy.
He launched himself up again, crushing Galaxy’s back. His vision went black for a second.
…
Pop.
When he opened his eyes, Sharp was holding his blade above his head. Galaxy’s eyes widened, rolling out of the way before the sword could connect.
Galaxy forced himself up, panting. His back spiked with pain.
A villager threw out a strength potion, hitting his skin. The potion numbed the injuries, giving him enough energy and adrenaline to continue.
He managed to slice Sharpness a few more times, some light, some deep. He wanted to keep going. He wanted to kill him. Kill him.
For killing Finlo.
For destroying him before.
For his own stupidity of bringing him back to life.
Sharpness however, scrambled and ran.
“Screw this, I'll see you around, Galaxy.”
Galaxy chased him, shooting him in the back with a slow falling arrow with his crossbow. He reloaded it again only for the man to start digging into the ground. Galaxy charged down after him.
He was not letting him get away this easily.
He dug, following his sounds and stone breaking until it went silent.
The demon hybrid slammed his fist into the stone around him in anger.
He lost him.
He made his way back up to the surface, annoyed and disappointed but proud of himself. He took that fight. He won, even with Sharpness running away. He was taking that win.
He made it to the surface, the strength potion given to him running out. He stumbled towards the tower, smiling. Mugm gazed down at him from the top, concern slipping through his proud eyes.
The villagers peeked out from their windows and doorways.
He'd won.
He won.
His knees buckled, his adrenaline running out soon after. He smiled.
He won. He won against Sharpness.
He laughed with slight craziness.
Mugm landed next to him, immediately checking his injuries.
All Galaxy could think about was his win.
The memories that haunted him faded into translucence. They were still there, but they weren’t clouding him as much as they did before.
“Galaxy, can you stand?” Mugm asked. The demon hybrid shook his head. His head pounded, his back in pain, his arm weirdly warm from the red that stained it. He was happy though.
It was worth it.
It was worth it.
“You stuck out that fight. Even with those mace hits. I'm.. proud of you Galaxy.
Good work today.”
Galaxy's crazed smile turned to a light one.
Proud.
He liked that word.
