One thing Rory hated more than being alone, is being alone stranded on an vast ocean with nothing but a sad boat and a dream of finding Spain. Unfortunately for Rory, he forgot his compass at home and his map was stolen by an angry seagull.
It's been more than 2 weeks since he last saw a living soul. Even though that living soul was a mermaid, but somehow, they got along quite well. But even she hasn't shown up in quite a while. Rory wanted to tear his hair out, but then he saw something move in the water. "Hey, is that you Marie?"
Suddenly pale webbed hands grabbed onto the ship, making it stable. "Holy mackerel, your not Marie!" The first thing Rory noticed was that the person or rather a mer person was incredible handsome. He had hair like charcoal, coffee brown eyes and moles around his whole face and collar, placed so specifically it made him look even prettier.
"Mmmm, who's this Marie?" Said the boy, with voice sweeter than honey. "The name is Emil, you seem quite lost."
"...Emil, Emil sounds beautiful..." Rory forgot he was talking out loud again. "And yes, I'm totally lost, like a fish on land. Wait is that appropriate?" Rory started to get a light blush on his cheeks. "Like a pirate without a map, yes like that! Much better! Sorry, it's been a while since I talked with somebody, please don't leave yet."
Emil chuckled and it looked like some wicked thought has been forming in his head. "Oh, don't worry, I think I'll stay for awhile."
"Really?" Rory's eyes suddenly lighten up with stars. "Well then, I should introduce myself properly! My name is Roderick Mackintosh, but my friends call me Rory. I came from The Highlands and I'm sailing to Spain to... Find my brother." He frowned a bit at the word brother, but then he got excited again. "I can't wait to see the place mate, if only I haven't lost my map like an idiot."
Emil looked focused for a bit, trying to process all that information. "So Spain, which part? I could show you." Emil lips turned to a friendly smile.
"No way! You would do that for me? I'm sailing to a..." Rory proceeded to think for a second before finally remembering. "The city my brother is in is called Pescadería, do you know where that is? Because I'm utterly lost."
"Of course, it's that way." Emil pointed to a random direction towards Spain. In fact he had no clue that a city like that even existed.
Rory changed the course. "Thank you very much! How will I ever repay you." He put his hand on his chin. "Hmm, I know, I have a full bottle of Scotch whisky!" He passed the bottle to Emil who rejected with a polite smile. "I don't drink, but thank you. You don't have to repay me, it's fine."
"No, absolutely not. There must be something I could do for my savior! I can sing or tell you a funny story; One time I worked on a pirate ship-." He was cut off by Emil silky but insisting voice.
"Well you could do me a favor." Emil leaned in closer which made Rory incredibly happy. "I want to eat you, so how about you don't struggle and make it easy?" He winked at the terrified sailor.
"W-what?! Emil you want to eat me! How rude!" He immediately stumbled back in the ship, confused and horrified. "Could you halt it, mate! I don't even taste that good, I'm all bones!"
"You talk too much Rody, I think I'll kill you just for that honestly." Emil hands rocked the ship, making it unstable. He laughed at Rory's freaked out expressions.
"First up, I'm Rory!" He yelled. "Second up, I don't talk that much, you just talk too little!"
"Oh really? Then I shall speak more." Emil grinned at the man and started singing. Rory froze at the haunting voice. "Emil you're... You're a siren." He stuttered.
"Took you long enough to realise." Emil started to sing harmonious tones and Rory felt like his soul left his mortal body, he clutched his head. "Stop please, I have to, I have to meet my brother again." Rory felt like his head was spinning and all he could see was Emil hypnotizing eyes.
"Aww, I'll make sure you meet him very soon." Whispered Emil, just before he burst out into his maniacal laughter. "Humans are so stupid, cant even figure a simple lie out. And once presented to them on a silver platter they choose to reject and ignore it..." While Emil decided to go off on his monologue, Rory didn't waste a second and grabbed the harpoon. "Stay back, creature."
"You think you can hurt me with that stick? How pathetic." Emil ego allowed him to lean fully on the ship, but surprisingly Rory didn't strike him down yet.
"I'm going to do it! I'm not someone's lunch or dinner! So leave." Rory voice sounded strained and scared, the complete opposite of what he wanted to show. He wasn't used to yelling at someone.
Emil sighed, but did back off.
"Good." Rory hold on the harpoon loosened. "Now, can we have a truce?" Rory whispered a silent prayer.
"Even after I tried to eat you?" Said Emil looking down. "You still want me here?"
Rory nodded happily, glad to made another friend with his charm. "Yes." He reach out a hand as a friendly gesture and Emil grabbed it, but he didn't let go, instead he pulled. The sudden strength tipped Rory balance off and he fell down to water.
He didn't put much of a fight, since he left the harpoon in the boat. The water went dark with blood.
