"Ash, are you here?"
Ewron entered the pantheon, hand trailing across the quartz, careful to avoid all the paintings his friend had hung up on the walls. Honestly, he's glad he covered the walls up with something, the white, shiny blocks that they had used to build the place always reflected light in the most annoying, painful way. He doesn't understand how Ash didn't go insane from looking at it for so long.
"I know you're here. Ash! You haven't left this silly building in days, you know! We've all noticed," he drawled, voice almost painfully lazy. Ever since that day, he had felt like he needed to watch his words a bit around Ash. It was almost as if anything he said could send him over the edge, and Ewron was not going to risk pushing it too far.
His eyes scanned the floor for the elevator– seriously, did they have to make it this difficult to find? Stupid, stupid Ashswag, always making things more complicated than they need to be. A sigh escaped his mouth, turning into a small grin when he finally located the scarily well-hidden elevator. (Cockroaches are very observant, you know!)
Jumping on the elevator, Ewron found himself standing in front of a door with a bright red sign above it,
'SUPREME LEADER'S ABODE. NOBODY ALLOWED"
... Ah. It was so, so Ash. It almost hurt.
His smile widened slightly as he imagined Ash, sitting and proudly etching the sentence onto the sign. He was sure he would be like, "Oh, a supreme leader needs his privacy, you know," and silly words like that... Ash isn't so dumb as to believe that this sign would stop anyone, he's sure. It was a silly little gesture.
Calming himself, he cleared his throat before slowly opening the door to the "Supreme Leader's Abode", only to see...
Well, nothing, really.
The first thing he sees is another boring quartz wall, and after looking at his sides, it's quite obvious that that's how the entire room will look, most likely. Also, what is with the shape of the room? So inconvenient, and for why?
He rounds the rounded corner into the larger space of Ash's room, eyes immediately spotting the small bed sitting against the far side of the wall, a suspiciously Ashswag-shaped lump under the purple comforter. directly in front of... curiously placed mauve wood planks.
Huh...
Well, at least it was a burst of colour. He probably needs it, the depressed obsidian-looking thing...
Ewron took careful strides towards the bed, ensuring that he wouldn't make any sudden loud noises to shock him. Or wake him. He would rather not do either, it might end with him dead on the ground if he gets unlucky.
"Ash..?" He whispered, apprehensive. "Are you awake, bro?"
His hand met the purple comforter– it was surprisingly soft– and carefully tugged it down, just a tiny bit.
As expected, he was met with curly black hair, way messier than usual from what he assumed was either Ash tossing and turning in his sleep or a general lack of care. The glitchy patch that sat upon his right eye was calm, having noticeably shrunk in size.
A giggle escaped his throat as he crouched down, brushing Ash's hair out of his face, gentle as to not awake the sleeping assassin. It was a rare sight, Ash’s expression looked the closest to being relaxed than it had since he first met him. Not that he was complaining, though! He felt kind of privileged, actually. Who gets the chance to see the Supreme Leader of The Regime like this? Only Ewron, of course.
A small noise came from Ash as he buried himself deeper into the mattress, probably disturbed from Ewrons miscellaneous vocalisations.
Ewron blinked, staring for a small moment, eventually deciding that it would probably be best to leave him alone. He was willing to give Ash a little slack. It has been a busy couple of days for everyone, and especially Ash. (Besides, he had long since forgotten the original reason for his visit to The Regime.)
Rising from his crouching position, he extended his arm, patting Ash lightly on the head. It was barely a conscious decision, the desire to comfort him came to him too easily at this point. Gross.
"Goodbye, my assassin. We will speak tomorrow-"
Before he could finish his sentence, his wrist was caught into a weak hold by something.
"O KURWA," a shrill screech left his mouth, unable to stop it. The sudden volume quickly caused whatever was holding his wrist to fall away.
Ewron spun around, only to be met with Ash, very obviously disoriented and confused. His visible eye was only half open, revealing his hazy, golden iris, struggling to focus on his figure. The hand that he'd used to grab onto Ewron was now pathetically dangling off the side of the bed, and it made him feel a kind of bad. Ash looked too vulnerable right now, it was unsettling and charming at the same time.
"Oh shit- Ash, I'm sorry, please go back to sleep, I was just leaving, you know? Do not worry," he squeaked, panicking just a tiiiny bit. Not afraid though, never afraid. Obviously.
Ash stared at him, blinking slowly and far apart as he tried to comprehend what was happening. So far, he hadn't been jumped, so things weren't too bad, at least. And it's Ewron standing in front of him, which was, unfortunately, reassuring.
"It's not my fault you decided to fall asleep in the middle of the day when I have important business to discuss with you, really-" "Ewron. Please shut up. Oh my god."
He cut Ewron off, words slurring slightly, "I'm tired. Either shut up and leave or join me."
Ewron fell into silence for a few moments, stunned. Was it normal for Ash to lose all filters when he's just woken up?
... Either way, he wasn't about to pass up this opportunity. The chances of this happening again after today were close to none, and, honestly, the rest would be... appreciated, to say the least.
Without another word, Ewron flopped onto the bed, halfway on top of Ash.
"Oh my god, you asshole-" Ash wheezed, face scrunching up into a frustrated expression. However, before he could continue scolding him, Ewron slipped Ash from under him, bringing him to lay on his chest. "No more complaining! You said you were tired, and I am too, so let's sleep, okay?"
The smile in his tone was obvious, but Ash couldn't find it in him to care too much. The closeness was nice, as much as he didn't want to admit it. He hadn't been around the other members of The Regime much since the day he was killed by Senpai, so contact with others was limited, to say the least.
It was a bit embarrassing, but that was an issue for future Ashswag. For now, he let his eyes close as Ewron continued to chatter endlessly below him, kinda resembling the rumbling of a purr. It was comforting, and you couldn't really blame him if he were to shuffle closer to Ewron, hiding his face in the crook of his neck. It was nice.
...
He was nice.
