Work Text:
Steven Stone was a busy man: champion, former champion, looking for new mega stones so more pokemon can mega evolve, saving the world a few times…the usual.
So whenever the doorbell rings to give him an excuse to get away from his paperwork, naturally he takes it.
He got out of his chair and headed towards the door, opening it.
The mailman smiled at him. “Afternoon Steven. You got a package here from Bri Ketchum.”
He does? ‘Oh yeah, she texted me that she was giving me another stone soon.’ Seems like it arrived.
“Yes, thank you.” He took the package and closed the door. She’d never sent her findings by mail before. Perhaps she was busy with something on her end and couldn’t wait to send it? Or she got too excited and couldn’t wait to see him again?
He opened up the box and really wished he didn’t.
“I took a trip to Kalos recently and found this. I know you’ll put it to good use one day.”
It was a Lucarionite. Specifically, the one he gave her. He didn’t like where this was going.
There was an envelope in the box. He opened it and started to read.
Steven,
I figured you should have this back. I don’t deserve to use it right now. Keep it for me until I’m ready, okay?
-Bri
…What the hell does that mean?
He didn’t know what she was doing, but he does know she made a stupid decision. Hopefully when she’s back in the right mindset she’ll realize what she’s done.
For now though…he’ll keep it. Put it somewhere so it won’t stare him in the face and have him worry about her more than he already does.
…Maybe he should take the rest of the day off.
