Work Text:

Viktor was especially pissed on a Tuesday morning; any prodding from Nancy only gets a grunt from him, but she does leave him his favorite coffee blend to calm down the nerves a little bit before kissing him in the cheek and bidding goodbye for work. The veins on his hands were throbbing as he grabbed the cup by its handle and brought it to his lips to take a sip.

Mmm. Just the right amount of bitter for the bitter soul that is Viktor David. His daughter knows the stuff.

He turned the mug around and smiled as he read the branding. "Beats a Doppelganger Dad". How thoughtful.

Just then, loud knocking on the door accompanied with rampant doorbell rings pulled Viktor from his reverie and his face immediately turned sour in the blink of an eye. "Almost forgot," Viktor stood up and reached for the coat rack. He put on his favorite coat that was taller than his granddaughter and wife's height combined. The coat's tail was hanging just above his ankles and swung side to side as he made his way towards the door in large strides. He looked into the screen that monitored those who were outside the door and his eyes widened at the sight of a lady in office wear and ponytail practically staring down the camera. Her—what seems to be—lackeys were behind her, all in yellow hazmat suits with the D.D.D. logo proudly emblazoned on their uniform's left chest area.

Regardless, it did look like it was really the D.D.D. themselves so Viktor put his face on the face scanner just next to him (there was a face scanner inside and outside of the apartment as well) and once done, the door automatically unlocked its hinges and the lady and her lackeys finally presented herself in front of him.

Viktor coughed into his hand and cleared his throat before looking the woman down and her yellow hazmat co-workers. He was a very tall man, and he was not afraid to use it as an advantage in his intimidation.

The woman had a rigid standing position and she had to crane her neck to meet the David's household head's eyes, but she did get there eventually.

"Helloooo. I’m Notredame, D.D.D. representative. Call me Notta, my parents hated me. This is a mandatory check up.”

The woman introduced herself quickly and her lines almost sounded rehearsed. The way she was talking dragged on even simple words and as long as these words had vowels, she was practically emphasizing them. Viktor could swear he was listening to chalk being scratched on a blackboard.

"Mrs. Notre—"

"Miss."

Viktor narrowed his eyes at this audacity but also found it rather entertaining.

"Tell your leader that I am not entertaining a lady lost with her delusions of being a head representative and that I expected it was Mr. G who would be coming to my apartment. Now get lost."

Notta smiled but it was strained and obviously forced as she shook her head and made the motion of a 'fuck you' towards Viktor when he turned his head to look at the employees behind her.

"I am a D.D.D. representative and Mr. G is not the head of the cleanup crew, I am." Viktor raised an incredulous brow at her that she had to crane her neck further up to even notice. "There was a doppelganger who got through and now we have to clean it up. It's dead, but we burn the dead into ashes for a reason."

"And somehow I'm supposed to just let you wander my property and do whatever you want, little girl?"

Notta's smile dropped for a second before she picked it back up with a twitch of her eye.

"A1 is still D.D.D.'s property, Viktor David. It is ours to do with as we please if there has been a doppelganger on sight."

Before Viktor could get another word in, Notta already turned towards her lackeys and finally rested her neck.

"Search the halls. We have all day for this building."

The D.D.D. employees filed in groups in two separate directions. Viktor was seething and his eyes had narrowed into slits.

"I paid good money for this apartment and everything else. Tell your leader that I am expecting an explanation for this anomaly; the apartment is supposed to be the most secure one there is and yet here we are."

"I'm not the head of the security crew, you'll have to talk to Mr. G to sort that one out."

Viktor gritted his teeth and sends his fist flying in the direction of Notta's face before stopping just before it could hit her nose. Notta was baffled, but did not relent and kept a resting bitch face on the whole time.

When he noticed that there was no fear in her eyes to be seen, Viktor dropped his arm at his side and turned back to go inside of his apartment. He glared Notta down before going inside and activated the security mechanism for the door again.

Notta would remain untouched and smug for the rest of the day, but not so much for the furnitures in the living room that Mr. G had to make a file for replacement that next day.
